As a Laker fan, I remember this was the only game the Lakers won against the Suns in the 2005-06 regular season. Without Steve Nash, the Suns offense was uncharacteristically sloppy and out of sync and Kobe took advantage, which is why the Lakers blew the Suns out of the building.
I honestly don't think that there has ever been a better individual season from any other player, if you adjust his pace to other era's he averages even more. Not only that but the fact that he did this while still having a solid record is insane.
@@all-aroundnba8912 Well he missed the playoffs in the east, and Kobe made all defensive 1st team that year which put him in the realm of only him and MJ to ever do such a thing. Average over 35 ppg and make all defensive first team. Not to mention he had a great 3pt% considering the era, the number of shots he took, and the fact that most of them came off the dribble. I mean he did this all with Kwame and Smush starting for him. Odom was good but he was at best a glorified role player who's best numbers came on bad teams, I mean he could get the job done for what you needed him to do, but the fact he averaged 15 and 9 that year speaks to how weak that overall roster was. It's honestly a miracle Kobe took that squad to the playoffs, and to 7 games against the Suns.
I've always thought that Kobe's All-Defence Teams during 06- (can't remeber when the last one was) is more to do with his reputation and star status than actually playing great defence. 05-06 I would have rather had Shane Battier or some like that instead of Kobe on the 1st or 2nd team. But that's just me.
@@all-aroundnba8912 I mean, his defense didn't yield statistics, but he held his opponents down on and off the ball. Not only that but if that were the case then he would have had more than 1 MVP and closer to 3 or 4 MVP's. If his 1st defensive team was gifted to him because of people going off of reputation he would've won the MVP. I mean he deserved to win defensive first team, and the MVP that year.
🙌🙌🙌 I been looking for highlights of this game since 2006!!!This was right before the playoffs and set the tone for that series.Still HATE that Lakers were unable to take advantage of the 3-1 lead and beat Phoenix

AI averaged 33 and 7 during that season.

Ridiculous start to a game the guy had a rebound a layup a steal a dunk a 3 pointer and 7 points in less than a minute
@all around nba Kobe was Beethoven on the elbow
Damn, the Suns are getting into Kobe's nerves during this season. Rest in Peace, Kobe.
that's why he lit them up next time he saw them in the playoffs in 2010.
@@ArmandoKozomara Kobe just decimated the Suns that Conference finals series. Game 6 was something Suns fans wanted to forget.
He did say that he hated the Phoenix Suns.
