I can't understand how come ONLY 69K views and most shoking, only 57k subscribers. Achim is amazing player and teacher for what I can see. He deserves many many many more! Thank you so much for the channel and all the time you put on the videos Achim!
A master makes things look easy. You pulled so much use from the 1 position. Amazing. THat was a great video how you labelled the theme for each cycle.
Great lesson (and great playing)!!! Went to your website and got the transcripts, MP3's; wow! It's wonderful to have those resources to follow your playing. Thanks for putting this up…and after surfing your other vids I'm quite sure it won't be my only purchase! Great material you've put out there! Thanks again!
Hi Jacob Loreant..I am not on this guy level yet, but will get there..Learn your arpeggios then play over jam tracks using the the arpeggios that you have learned...And listen to alot of jazz music..Trust me on this..
Learn triads, pentatonic scale, learn concepts like string skipping and hybrid picking, learn to use a wider fretboard area (combine 2 pentatonic boxes), experiment a lot and listen to the soinds you create :-) hope this helps haha Edit: you also need to listen to a lot of music you want to improvise in, suck in the music let it really get into yourself and develop a good sense of rhythm. With a good foundation on rhythm even the simplest ideas will sound really awesome
Great stuff Achim. I really enjoyed some of the clips you put out on RUclips. When purchasing one of your lessons, do you supply the corresponding backing track ? Thx.

Good question, you can play the whole tune in C minor blues scale, but that sounds not like jazz, it's more like B.B. King in "Thrill is gone". I've played over Cm7 the C dorian scale, over Fm7 the F dorian scale, over Ab7/9 a Ab7 arpeggio and over G7#9 the altered scale or G HM5 (C harmonic minor starting with the 5th). I've mixed the whole stuff with the C blues scale and some chromatic approach and ready is the solo. O.k. if you need more help, start with my lesson here on RUclips: ruclips.net/p/PLGSQLUOdi3Smi8z8lyBWfHk2MwogsgZYh
congrats achim ,awesome ... but i think thats is more Chitlins con carne (SRV) than thrills is gone (BBking) . You have a great talent to mix all the scales .Thanks for share
thank you, I have always practiced a minimum of 2 hours a day, but I'm a little confused about the chromatic jazz, is all jazz chromatic blues or jazz wear has a special chromatic? this time I just know chromatic minor and major in the regular chord without 7. thanks for responding to this :)
Beautiful as always, smooth, tasteful, melodic and interesting.
Thanks! Best regards from Germany

Hi Heaton, you're a funny guy, but I don't think that jazz music fits in your videos, all the best . . .
(how could anyone thumb this down?!?)
people giving themselves a thumbs down....putting their own playing down..
True that brother!
Wes Montgomery could thumb anything down mate! ;)
How would you recommend someone practice improvisation?

Is this entire improv in C Minor Blues or do you do any scale changes based on the chords?

Achim Kohl Thanks a lot for going into detail about it, that really helped.
congrats achim ,awesome ... but i think thats is more Chitlins con carne (SRV) than thrills is gone (BBking) . You have a great talent to mix all the scales .Thanks for share
Is that your band backing you? If so they are excellent.
Name of track?! Thanks!
It's a composition of mine . . .
Have you tried playing jazz on a 12 string? I wonder how that'll sound...
Check out the Pat Martino version of Oleo on the Desperado album! It's on RUclips as well.
i'm 31 yrs old, its that late fore me to learning jazz,??
No, you are not too old, it depends more on how much time you have for practicing,
minimum 1 -2 hours a day, that will work fine . . .
thank you, I have always practiced a minimum of 2 hours a day, but I'm a little confused about the chromatic jazz, is all jazz chromatic blues or jazz wear has a special chromatic? this time I just know chromatic minor and major in the regular chord without 7. thanks for responding to this :)
SOOOOO SLICK...
