I could listen to this interpretation over and over again. It's simply gorgeous. The Lord has blessed you with an incredible talent. Keep up the good work! Pax Vobiscum!
Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices, Who wondrous things has done, in Whom this world rejoices; Who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way With countless gifts of love, and still is ours today. Oh, may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; And keep us in His grace, and guide us when perplexed; And guard us through all ills in this world, till the next! All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given, The Son, and Him Who reigns with Them in highest Heaven- The one eternal God, Whom earth and Heav’n adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
I love that the words to the prayer are superimposed on the screen as they are played. That has so enhanced my love of this piece since you can almost hear the prayer in the voicing of the pipe. Great interpretation also of the Virgil Fox arrangement. Saw VF play this in Philly twice, once in the one of the oldest churches in America. Great job Mr. Jackson!
Sean this hymn has a deep spiritual meaning for me. This hymn is MY Favorite and one of my late mother's. My daughter just got married this weekend and it was played on the church's pipe organ. To me this was a confirmation that my mother was present in the church. I loved your playing it slow it adds feeling to the hymn. I would love to hear you play this live one day!
# 1. Fantastic playing, Sean Jackson. Just Magnificent !!!!# 2. As To Mr. Fox --- Flamboyancy (etc.), Rhinestones, Cape, And Interpretations/Registrations Hated By Too Many Jealous 'American Guild Of Organists' Elitist Pricks Be Damned. Monsieur Virgil Was A Friggin' Genius !!!! A Genius !!!!!!!! A Genius !!!!!!!!!!!!
If the Lord allows me to slip out quietly I will be asking for a pair of earphones playing this one. Could there be a better way to enter into Glory? Soli Deo Gloria
Thanks For Posting. What a great version. I wasn't aware that J.S.Bach had written this version. We learn something new everyday. Thanks again and so well played.
Sean may I say as an organist, this is one of my favorite all time pieces to play.. I just played this this morning at AM services and every one liked it....You have a very blessed gift from God and you played this piece at the right speed.... God bless... I really like listening to hear you play! :)
Such wonderful playing!! My hat is off to you for the sound of a great instrument such as you played this magnificent piece on. A true joy to hear that song done with such skill. THANK YOU!
Great performance! I am really thankful for the lyrics - that's great idea you put them! Thanks to it we can understand the music and Bach's idea much better!
I saw the comment on slow tempo, and do not agree with this. VERY well played and very CLEAR, both in player and instrument. BTW, the same 'tempo wars' exist on the Widor Toccata. Widor himself 'slowed it down' in later publications (tempo=100). As you have taken this song, all the ingenious harmonies of the improvision on the hymn tune can be heard and appreciated.
Sean, better late hearing and seeing you than never. Great job, well done and the instrument is a real masterpiece and you know how to use it. Blessings. David Snyder, Lumierist
Hey dude, I think G-D has most certainly given you a gift. I would love to hear you play this masterpiece of Bach/Virgil on the grand CAVAILLE-COLL organ in Rouen Abbey France! G-D bless.
WOW, Sean! Outstanding! excellent! You are by all means a very gifted musician and a FINE organist. I think both Bach and Fox would have been very pleased. ALSO, PLEASE tell us what and where that organ is, it sounds great. Thank you and God Bless you my brother from another mother... (:
No. It's a 6800 pipe organ (116 ranks) that is essentially an American classic. It started off as a Roosevelt but eventually E. M. Skinner took it over. It was revoiced by Bruce Shultz of Philadelphia in the early 90s.
Dude incredible job! I hear what tom saying, but that situational & way u played there not at all monotonous; in fact very tight & technically sound. I'm sure u could loosen it up and/or build more in a live performance when called for. Overall a fine tribute to both Bach & Virgil.
Personally, I found it a bit slow. One will remember, Music in not on the page; it's in the ear. I would love to hear your own arrangement of this great piece. You have access to a wonderful instrument and I'm sure you have the skill. So, why not? Sent with love. CVD
Technically excellent, but tonally unsatisfying. Virgil gave specific instructions for a gradual build-up to maximum full organ. Without that gradual build-up, the musical satisfaction is lacking and the effect becomes monotonous Please try doing this piece again, only this time try following Virgil's instructions for registration, and see if you don't notice a HUGE difference in the overall effect!
The GOLD STANDARD for performance of this Virgil Fox arrangement!
I could listen to this interpretation over and over again. It's simply gorgeous. The Lord has blessed you with an incredible talent. Keep up the good work! Pax Vobiscum!
Fantastic. It's not Thanksgiving for me until I hear this!

It is my absolute pleasure. Thank you for listening.

Excellent version! Too many organists rush this piece -- your tempo is just right.
Perfectly played. And the articulation is just right for the live acoustic. You can hear every note! Bravo!
Beautiful playing. Virgil would be proud!
If the Lord allows me to slip out quietly I will be asking for a pair of earphones playing this one. Could there be a better way to enter into Glory? Soli Deo Gloria
Its nice to hear this slowed down. I can actually sit back and enjoy it.
Brilliant Mr. Jackson! Simply Brilliant!
Sean,,your joyous playing of Now Thank We all our God was stunning. Thank you.
David Snyder, Lumierist
Thanks David. Glad you enjoyed it!
My best friend Andy toured with Virgil when he was playing the Rodgers organ. Fabulous stories! I miss hearing him tell stories about it!!!
This fabulous rendition has a permanent place in my 'History'. It brings joy every time I hear it, thank you Sean.
Immaculate..perfect pacing.registration.dignified and elegant..truly played to the greater glory of God.thankyou..

You are absolutely incredible. I almost wanna give you a standing ovation right from my living room where I’m watching this.
Excellent job! The chorale melody is very clearly played. And I am singing it again and again. God bless you Sean!
that is the very best tempo ever for this piece!
I really like this tempo and registration. Wonderful execution and love the clarity! Love this! I feel there's enough drama in my opinion.
very lovely hymn. and well played
Beautifully played. Wonderful technique and tempo. Thank you on this Thanksgiving Day, 2012.
Such wonderful playing!! My hat is off to you for the sound of a great instrument such as you played this magnificent piece on. A true joy to hear that song done with such skill. THANK YOU!
Very good, Mr. Jackson. I loved seeing the words when the melody came up. Excellent idea. Blessings, sir.
Spectacular! The tempo is perfect.
Great performance! I am really thankful for the lyrics - that's great idea you put them! Thanks to it we can understand the music and Bach's idea much better!
This is excellent sir! Great Job. I love the tempo.
the tempo is very correct despite what is said below, and it is very clearly played.bravo

+steamrocks -- improvisations can really improve this amazing piece :)
I agree - your comments are spot-on!
Simply Beautiful and played very majestically! Thank you Sean for sharing.
Couldn't be better! Many thanks.
So much joy and freedom in your playing! Thanks for sharing!
Virgil would be proud. great job Sean.
Thanks for posting - a good singable speed. I always wanted to use this as my wedding recessional with choir and organ (went with Widor's Toccata)
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (February 10), I played this for Sunday School Assembly.
Just wonderful...and perfect tempo!
Nice job, Mr. Jackson!
Wonderful!
Sean, I listen to you play this wonderful piece every day, It helps me cope. Great Job!!
AMAZING!
Marvelous! Thank you for this appropriate Thanksgiving hymn, played with such passion as to evoke a thankful heart in all who hear it.
Very pleasant rendition and I am pleased with your smile at the end which shows you also enjoyed the piece. More grace and thanks for sharing.
Awesome Job Sean, Virgil would be proud.
Lovely !! Thank you for sharing !!
My God how beautiful !
Very well played and enjoyed!
Sean, better late hearing and seeing you than never. Great job, well done and the instrument is a real masterpiece and you know how to use it. Blessings. David Snyder, Lumierist
Sparkling. Thank you.
Also appreciate that you bring out the melody. Too often, it gets muddied by the ornamentation.
Love your passionate playing! Enjoyed the concert you gave a few years ago at Trinity Church Wall Street in NY! Very uplifting!
Beautiful!
thank to God for talents He gave to you
Excellent Thank you for posting!
Perfectempo! Must hear this fun piece often. (In the right hand I kept brushing the same note which Virgil sometimes hit.)
Wonderful
wonderful! bravo!
Virgil is looking over the rims of his glasses and proclaiming, “Honey, well done”!
Great Stuff! Thank you very much indeed!
Wonderful!
Video also well done!
Thank you.
The best I've ever heard it!
This I Absolutely Love

Absolutley fantastic. Enjoyed it very much! :-)
WOW, Sean! Outstanding! excellent! You are by all means a very gifted musician and a FINE organist. I think both Bach and Fox would have been very pleased.
ALSO, PLEASE tell us what and where that organ is, it sounds great.
Thank you and God Bless you my brother from another mother... (:
Nice sounding Aeolian Skinner Organ there!
"In one hand I have Now Thank We All Our God by J.S. Bach, and in the other...Martin Luther. Grab hold will you???!!!" - Virgil Fox
Thanks Danny.

"Play it again Sam!" Now do it your way. Knock the hell out of it. "NOW Thank we all our God." Do it dear. You way!
Lobe den Herrn!
Lovely! I'd love to do what you do every day.

Where is this magnificent instrument located ?
John Carleton Sacramento Ca.
At 3:49, don't fall of the bench backwards there, bud.
I just got back from this church. Even toured the basement
So you saw the model railroad station I take it.
3:49 : whew!!! that was some Christ praisin'!
Two people need prayer.
Is this an Allen organ? It has very similar program buttons under the manuals.
Impeccable fingering :)
Great fun. Make it yours and take it home honey.

+Tom Nichol, You're correct to add this comment - thanks!
if you watch closely you can see his registration change a few times throughout the song
Excellent
Superb!
