USB drains the phone more than Bluetooth in my case (GS G8 vs G8+/X4) - I've compared both on the same phone at full charge each, I played longer on the G8+/X4 by at least an hour more @@Jucelegario

We've also heard from our community that some users want the option to adjust or even turn it off, so we're working on that! 2. **D-pad**: It's a known issue since late August with the current trial unit. The final production version will have two updates: the D-pad will be 10% less stiff, and we'll fix the occasional issue where pressing hard affects adjacent keys. 3. **Software**: Still in development, but we're aiming for a mid-October update that will include full touchscreen functionality, a guided tutorial, and additional S9 features like macros and turbo functions. Hope to make it even better and be your everyday controller!

I’ve been testing this for a while now. They defiantly have been listening and doing updates. It’s also the most comfortable telescopic controller I’ve ever used. I really enjoy playing on an 8” tablet with it
Dang, that's a step up from the telescopic controller that I got for my Galaxy S20 5G FE! The chip that allows phone calls to be made/received fried, so instead of throwing away the phone (which was otherwise working great) I turned it into a gaming device. I'm going to have to check out this controller!
Yass!🎉 This is how I started my emulation adventure. Long before there was any handheld on the market I fell in love with emulation and was also stunned how good PS Remote Play worked back then. Yet there was no gamepad like this. Later on, gamepads became an extremly niche product= very expensive. This one looks abzzyyylutely nice and I share my hopes with you, TD. We need a good D-Pad for many Retro-Systems and especially a proper Keymapper for android games. Passthrough charging and a 3mm Headphone Jack are a big plus on this one too. Nice review as always TD. Love❤
The one thing that convinced me to get a handheld instead of using my phone is a taller/wider screen. Phone screens are way too narrow for me to enjoy them like that
I like the d9 controller. I use it to do the usual emulation. But also stream PS5 and PC. It has hall sticks and triggers. As well as motion control. Pretty crazy for only 30-40
I do love me some root beer. I grew up on Barqs, but recently learned it isn’t TECHNICALLY a true root beer because it has caffeine. It’s still good, though…still good.
I like the idea of gaming on a cellphone, but the hardest practically is losing save data, when swapping devices. I did use 8bitodo pro 2 with attachment to add my cell to play on it, which was fun! Was able to play WWF No Mercy pretty well, but long term it would have felt better if I had a controller like in the video. I still use my 8bitodo pro 2 though for my other devices
I can't recommend people buy these things for 100 when a dual sense is 70, but even less so when there's perfectly pocketable 8bitdo lite controllers for less than 30 bucks.
You can't lounge with a dual sense or 8bitdo or any other type of controller. It has to be this style in order to balance weight and "lounge-ability" (you'll know what that means if you've ever tried to use a standard controller connected to a phone/tablet in bed or on a recliner).

Thanks for the review! Will keep an eye out for this controller. But the inaccurate d-pad is a deal breaker for me. It's crazy but I have been searching a lot and haven't found a single telescopic controller that has good buttons and a good d-pad. Even some $150 ones that seem great but don't use rubber membrane and the buttons sound crazy loud on each press. Are companies afraid to do it for the first time, so they just keep copying each other??

I've heard that a lot of the ribbon cables in expanding phone controllers are brittle. It's the same issue with screen-hinges on clam-shells; structural integrity is very important, and this seems very inconsistent (for long-term usage) from brand to brand.

These controllers are nice, but they are big and bulky and are too expensive. You still end up carrying around something extra. You can get a separate gaming handheld for just as cheap or even cheaper than theses. Plus unless you have a phone with active cooling you won’t be able to play any intensive games for that long. Having a phone and a separate gaming handheld is a better choice.
nothing is better to me that playing in a dedicated handheld, designed exclusively to play. leaving the smartphone far away while playing it's the cherry on top. P.D. if your smartphone have a prominent camera module it will be an annoying experience
Which phone are you using? I have been using a lenovo for last 6 years ago, and kinda on it's path to death now. The only thing stopping me from getting a new one is the weird camera holes all the new phones have, which I absolutely hate. Bring back bezels! But yours have a nice capsule in the corner instead, which is pretty pleasing. Feels like the perfect upgrade for me.

i use my phone for lengthy jrpgs (pknm, ff7) that dont require quick perfect controls and are good to play in any situation. for anything else i play on the retroid pocket 4 pro.
I guess "budget price" depends on the buyers available budget. When there are good controllers for less than $25/£30 I'd struggle to find a reason to get this over those at the $59 price let alone the $99 mark.
The issue I'm having is I'm using a s24 ultra, and it's to powerful.. some emulators haven't caught up to its power. I'm excited for Ps3 and Switch in the future, though, with it. For a controller, I recommend Gamesir g8+ its a blue tooth controller that can be on the phone or tablet and be used as a controller for other devices.
Looks very similar to the gamesir g8 and g8 plus. Wonder if it's a reskin of that controller. I do like that it's the only USB c controller (that I know of) that can stretch wide enough to handle an 8.8 inch tablet. Very interesting device for sure.
I have a 12.9 inch ipad pro, and it claims to have 216mm of length support. The 12.9 inch ipad pro is 214.9mm, so in theory, it should fit. This may fit your device.

I have an old fire hd 8 inch tablet i ise for reading and i got a trlescopic Bluetooth controller a while ago to stream xbox to. While it is serviceable, the double layer of onput lag is noticeable and makes it hard to play action heavy things. Hope this one can stretch far enough and fit a tablet that size or a phone with a hard rugged csse

The Gamesir G8 is very similar and has a great D-pad. It doesn't have quite as many features as this one, but it's a great controller. Retrogamecorp did a great in-depth review of it.

That's why I use an 8" tablet. Taller screen better aspect ratio and only marginally heavier than my phone.
That is so smart that they will allow for changing up the joysticks and d-pads, I wish all controllers were smart enough to allow for that feature.

This one is wired OR bluetooth. You don't need to use the bluetooth, but it's there for compatibility with games like COD.

Gamesir g8 Galileo
The Gamesir G8 is very similar and has a great D-pad. It doesn't have quite as many features as this one, but it's a great controller. Retrogamecorp did a great in-depth review of it.

I was on a holiday with my new girlfriend. We were like 2 days driving from home and we were at a restaurant enjoying our evening. At some point i wanted to order a root beer and she said to me: 'Do you like root beer?'. I replied with e enthousiastic 'I do! Do you 2?' she said to me she hated root beer and that she didn't like the fact that i would drink root beer. We had a heated discussion and at some point she shouted at me: 'You have to chose, root beer or me!'. I stood up, went to my car (we went with my car) and drove home, ignored all her calls and never heard of her again. Don't mess with root beer
If there was a good cheap phone with no front camera I would buy it. I never use it and the hole is awful.
