    So in actual messa di voce singing technique, which this opera could be considered still in use of the vocal technique, you wouldn't sing louder than you could bring back (on the same note ) smoothly to piano. I don't know if Joyce's suggestion of "bigger" singing was best for a younger singer.

      I agree! I don’t think the voice was a problem. It was her acting. And it was clear she wasn’t “in it” or didn’t complete believe the story she was telling. If she worked on intent, everything would have fell into place. Not bigger. Which would be exhausting
