- Fatima Wajir from Mashamari Ward, Jere LGA, Borno State, once faced challenges with breastfeeding and monitoring her children’s nutrition.
“Women in our community didn’t breastfeed correctly; we only offered the nipple, not the areolar,” she said. “The training taught me proper latching techniques, improving feeding and reducing malnutrition risks.”
She also learned to use a MUAC tape to detect malnutrition. “This simple tool helps me monitor my children’s nutrition and act quickly if needed,” she shared.
With this knowledge, Fatima is improving her children’s health and raising awareness about nutrition, demonstrating the transformative impact of GHIV Africa's MIYCN program in Jere LGA funded by International Rescue Committee
