For how brutal Blood Bowl is of a sport, it is the closest of noblebright version of Warhammer ever. Like yeah, they tend to kill eachother during the matches quite often, but compared to all the craziness and grimdarkness of WH, it is still really nice solution to deal with the problems without fighting another apocalyptic war. Also the Blood Bowl 3 trailer with lizardmen kicks ass :D
In universe the societies that engage in Blood Bowl are clearly very prosperous. There are all sorts of offshoot commerce as a result of the games. Teams have sponsors, games are shown via Cabalvision and there are dedicated fan bases. I imagine a hugely wealthy society, akin to peak USA
why do you think rome had the coliseum? Give the populace something to feed their lust for violence and settle disputes in a less destructive way, on top of generating commerce and internal camaraderie and BAM, your entire society is on the up and up.
You want halfing stories? Heres one. Was playing at a 3 round Charity cup tournament with halflings. Round two go against a high elf team. Game overall goes to whooping score of zero to zero. I managed stall the player to a draw and he refuses to talk to me for months.
Story two. Playing against a goblin team. I take out all of his secret weapon players and managed to pitch clear the goblins and win the game with a score of 5 to zero. The cost? My treemen who lived the whole season, who had block, was killed that game by a mass fouling goblins.
Bloodbowl is connected to the 40k setting because in a story a wizard made a portal and a imperial catcher (i don't fully remember what he was only that he was human) fell in seen metal skeletons fighting four armed bug men before grabbing the ball and going back through the portal. Only to have a genestealer follow him rip him apart take the ball and score a touchdown before running off to do who knows what
I'd be fully on board with Blood Bowl if there was a 40K version. I want to play the Blood Angels as the Baalite Predators and the players are just Death Company who are convinced that the ball is Horus.
And it could have a small fun little justification. Like some space marine chapters would send their aspirants to play blood bawl as part of their training.
Quick lore justification: Daemon Planet that is ruled by an Undivided god of games. He traps nearby ships and drags them down. They are incapable of dying outside of games, and the winner of the yearly tournament gets to leave. Some tournament champs choose to stay and play more games after they enjoy it so much.
I will fully admit to not being very into Bloodbowl as a game, but the vibes are IMMACULATE, I love the minis, I love the artwork and the whole idea of solving international conflict by literally going "fuck it we ball" tickles me

The funniest story i have was when me and my brother where playung gutterbowl (another spin-off) and it was underworld denizens vs Humans, a scrimmage had formed between his troll and 4 gobins and my 3 linemen and 1 Blitzer (who was the ball carrier). It was my brother's turn and he had his troll pick up one of his goblins and try to throw it in the middle of it all with the hopes that during the deviation the player would hit one of mine knocking it over and setting up a play, he fumbled the throw and dropped the goblin on to one of his own and knocking it out. It doesn't end there though as a funny thing about throwing a player is that; if it lands on someone, they bounce off, however when determining where they land, the rules don't specify it needs to be unoccupied, so a thown player can bounce onto a another player and contiue to bounce until it finally lands. The dropped goblin would fall onto my lineman (failed to break armour), then bounce onto another one of his goblins and stun it, bounce onto a third goblin and kill it, bounce back onto the previous goblin stunning it again, and finish by bouncing onto the troll and knocking it out before landing stunning itself. The best part about this was the goblin he'd used i had modeled and painted to look like Jerma985, we had thus named it: "The dumptruck Andy incident".
Also I'm not super informed on the lore for blowbowl and got into it when they released the vampire team so if there's lore on them it would be awesome to learn more on them. Also are vampires weak to the sun in BloodBowl? I know Nagash made them weak to the sun in fantasy, so do they retain that weakness in the Bloodbowl alt universe?🤔

I think it's worth mentioning that Blood Bowl makes for a far better competitive game than 40K. The amount of interaction, the robust rules plus all the randomness makes for an extremely exciting game. I started playing last year, and I'm in my third season of a local league with my Amazon team. It's an absolute blast!

TB was pretty good at explaining the old dice mechanics under the computer game. BB is a game of risk management. Like in Space Hulk etc there is no predictable hp meter. A bloke can be walloped on a single action.
Okay, that intro part with the Ork's playing Football/Soccer/maybe HandEgg just dug up deep memories of playing "Mutant League Football" on the Sega with my Uncle. For that alone, you get an upvote and, if I'm not already subscribed, my subscription.
Since I learned about this game Blood Bowl, back in 3rd edition, late 90's, if I'm correct. I am sold to this game: role-play, player and team development. I call it playing chess with dice, since it's turn based and all important moves require a dice roll. And the coolest mechanic is the Turn-over: if you of you 11 players fucks up, the turn abruptly ends and it's the oppositions turn. Even if it was the first players you activated that turn. This leeds to many meaningful choices and make it hard to predict what tactic is the best for winning a certain match.
BB was one of those skirmish-scale specialist games you could role play. Same with Mordheim, Necromunda, Full Tilt and Gorkamorka. They created funky little stories. Gorkamorka created takes of serial crashes, orks clinging to trukks and rising up.
KILLED an entire hafling team in the first half with my orcs. Just scored so that the other guy would have to reset a few more. Just kept getting those knock downs, barely even fouled every turn. Ok, I did foul every turn. Goblins took a whole game to kill, so there's that.
i didn't know this existed. but i did have a similar scenario in my head where there was a 40k version of basketball called "Saturn Ring" (ball being saturn, the ring being the basket). and in my head, sanguinius can JUMP.
Absolutely love bloodbowl and would love to see you cover more of it! I love how you can show up to a league and just laugh your way through a game as some downright bonkers stuff unfolds. I love how in the games, there were many times, where at the end of the match, enemy's team was mostly on the "benches" (aka dead/injured) also, please do the rest of the teams

Blood bowl was my first introduction to the setting. I've since become a full on lore nerd for all of GW's settings, even buying 40k models and painting them, knowing full well that I'm the only one in my friend group who'd actually play a game with them. But that's ok. I enjoy it, and eventually I'll find someone who will actually play a game with me (in any setting) :p

Please do an episode on the true and known history of bloodbowl, it is amazing. I know you went over it but the finer details are hilarious. The rules and armor for bloodbowl were found because the orcs and dwarfs were having a battle and both decided that they would take a break for a bit. I am not kidding, orcs and dwarfs were getting tired from all the fighting and decided to have a water break.
It would be interesting if 40k is given its own equivalent of blood bowl. It will probably be in some hive or forgotten world with gangs, ab-humans, Xenos, and cults in the mix. It would be cool to have a game with lesser-known species playable, like a team of Felinid vs a team of Barghesi for example.

The cool thing about Blood Bowl is that you can use basically whatever minis you like. You could kit bash a Sisters of Battle team to run as Humans or Amazons and nobody would have an issue with it.
Arthur, I'll have you know that I've been sitting on an unpainted nurgle team for something like, 3 years now. Bought it during the team rehash because I love Papa Nurgle, had no friends locally to play with, but just enjoyed having the models. Well, this video (and just your enthusiasm for the absurdity we know and love as Blood Bowl) has got me painting them tomorrow. Because I want to crash my big unga bunga bloaters into some guys at the LGS and fulfill my nerd-given right to enjoy the most absurd version of American sports possible. Blood bowl was my first introduction to the setting. I've since become a full on lore nerd for all of GW's settings, even buying 40k models and painting them, knowing full well that I'm the only one in my friend group who'd actually play a game with them. But that's ok. I enjoy it, and eventually I'll find someone who will actually play a game with me (in any setting) :p
I've been interested in various Warhammer stuff since about 2001 when I was a kid & honestly Blood Bowl was so badass & iconic it has long remained imo THE MOST warhammer thing in all of warhammer lmao

Please do an episode on the true and known history of bloodbowl, it is amazing. I know you went over it but the finer details are hilarious. The rules and armor for bloodbowl were found because the orcs and dwarfs were having a battle and both decided that they would take a break for a bit. I am not kidding, orcs and dwarfs were getting tired from all the fighting and decided to have a water break.

I might be the only person who knew Blood Bowl before any form of Warhammer.
It would be interesting if 40k is given its own equivalent of blood bowl.
It will probably be in some hive or forgotten world with gangs, ab-humans, Xenos, and cults in the mix. It would be cool to have a game with lesser-known species playable, like a team of Felinid vs a team of Barghesi for example.
It does: the skrumball. It practiced in the Schola progenium and aparently the aspirants sisters of battles are a menace at it.

The cool thing about Blood Bowl is that you can use basically whatever minis you like. You could kit bash a Sisters of Battle team to run as Humans or Amazons and nobody would have an issue with it.

Arthur, I'll have you know that I've been sitting on an unpainted nurgle team for something like, 3 years now. Bought it during the team rehash because I love Papa Nurgle, had no friends locally to play with, but just enjoyed having the models. Well, this video (and just your enthusiasm for the absurdity we know and love as Blood Bowl) has got me painting them tomorrow. Because I want to crash my big unga bunga bloaters into some guys at the LGS and fulfill my nerd-given right to enjoy the most absurd version of American sports possible. So thank you, I plan to report back on how Professor Putricide's Poorest Performers do in their first few games.

When I was 13 I came across the first of the Blood Bowl books in my school library and they along with Trollslayer are what made me a warhammer fan for life. I need to see if I can find them again because I remember finding them hilarious
