  • Is Chiang Mai Thailand worth visiting in 2022? Find out as we take you along for a full day exploring our favorite city in Thailand!
    SUBSCRIBE to follow our 3-month adventure traveling Thailand full-time, and to be the first to know when a new Thailand travel vlog goes live!
    In this Thailand vlog, we start our day in Chiang Mai Old Town to find out what’s open in 2022 and, unfortunately, what’s closed down. We find some new favorites, including delicious vegetarian Khao Soi and unique craft coffee, as well as visit an old favorite that survived the last two years. No visit to Chiang Mai Thailand is complete without visiting some beautiful temples, so we visit Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang, plus give you a glimpse into Doi Suthep. We end our day with exploring the Nimman neighborhood, and yes, we answer your biggest question… How’s the Chiang Mai Sunday Walking Street (aka Chiang Mai night market)?
    If you have any questions about traveling to Thailand in 2022, the Test and Go entry requirements or anything else, REACH OUT IN THE COMMENTS and we’ll reply soon.

    I found your channel randomly via a RUclips suggestion. I watch a lot of Thailand vlogs and videos. I must say that, at least in this video (because I have not seen your other videos) you have captured some beautiful perspectives with bright colors, vibrant views, and your choice of angles and camera placement makes the video very attractive. It stands out among the crowd of folks doing videos in Thailand. The way the gold shines on the Buddha, the views of the canals, Monks sweeping and doing things, etc... all well timed and well captured. I just wanted to drop this note of thanks for the well done video. Thank you

    Chiang Mai are stunning, this should have been shown

    What beautiful temples...I'm awestruck. I also like your opinions at the end of the vlog that the trip to Thailand is worth it if you're gonna stay a while, not for a short trip with all the uncertainty of the dreaded C word. I look forward to your next vlog of your travels in this beautiful country. I was very young when I visited Thailand back in the 70's so I can't remember much. I've been in Chiang Mai for 5 weeks and I haven't seen any 7-11 stores that are closed, so there aren't many that are. (I started out in Phuket for a week and 95% of their 7-11s were closed.) I'm also in the Nimman area and I'm going to try Cheva & Chavee. FYI, I went to a great class at the Asia Scenic Thai Cooking School you pointed out, and it was so much fun! I asked specifically to be put into a busy class, and there were 16 of us.

    I've lived in Chiang Mai for 8 years and even with a big bike, I have barely scratched the surface of the events and attractions in Northwest Thailand. The dry Songkran this year was weird. I live in the Nimman area and usually we have very large Chinese tourist traffic. So it seems a bit dead. Back before the February unrest in Burma the covid numbers were so low it seemed like covid was under control but when the unrest started in Burma refugees and tribal people came thru the porous Thai/ Burma border. The south had more trouble with migrants than the North and fish markets were closed in BKK and at one point inter-provincial travel was not allowed in the 5 provinces surrounding Bangkok. Have a great time, BTW, Qingdao, China is a remarkable city if you're city hopping. It is where the 2008 Olympic Rowing and sailing events were held and it was occupied by both the Germans and the Japanese so it has an interesting area where there are German castles and Japanese style architecture. It is generally considered one of the top three Chinese cities for beauty.All the 7-11's on Hua Kaew are all open.BTW: Kao soi is Chinese in origin and the further South you go, the harder it is to find. An earthquake caused the damage to Wat Chedi Luang several hundred years ago.Happy Trails.

    Loved the 🏍 tour ! - The 🥛 🍩 looked incredible & were actually fairly expensive by Thai prices but apparently a very worthwhile treat 😋. Never have seen a 7-11 closed. That's a bummer 😕. I wonder if Southland corporation owns them 🤔 - Keep Having Fun ! 👋

    • @KeepGoingPlaces
      @KeepGoingPlaces  2 года назад +2

      Thank you, David! Glad you enjoyed it. Those were definitely expensive compared to typical local prices, but made up with the $1.50 Khao Soi! 7-11s being shut down is very unusual. Looking forward to sharing the next video soon!

    • @SomchaiSpeaks
      @SomchaiSpeaks 2 года назад +1

      Of course 7-11 is not owned by Southland it is owned by CP which is a local conglomerate. Many outlets are franchises so those with financial issues have to close. Like all other countries Thailand is suffering from inflation that is affecting all kinds of costs for businesses, in turn they are forced to raise prices because after 2 years of economic mismanagement by the junta they are in precarious financial condition. And there is no expectation of an improvement any time soon.

    Hi Ashley and Jordan, very good video, your video are awesome. Thumb Up. Very detailed information with location pin dropped. I have visited Chiang Mai 4 times. The best way to move around the Chiang Mai city is to rent a small scooter and roaming around. I have produced some traveling videos in Chiang Mai, but your videos are way much better than mine. I was using GoPro Hero 6 camera for my blog. Your video, sharpness, and night scene are way better than mine. Can you share, what video camera you used for this video production? Thanks a lot. Stay safe and have a wonderful time! Sending greetings with good luck from Singapore.

      Ofcourse there will be more covid spikes it's a mutating viral disease like flu , it's constantly going to be evolving , but so will our immunity , the sooner these world governments realize this and just let the world get going again and heal all the extra poverty created by this the better , sadly Thailand seems to be way behind in this belief compared to Cambodia and Vietnam .... It's the Thai people that rely on tourism that I feel sorry for

    • @SomchaiSpeaks
      @SomchaiSpeaks 2 года назад

      Remember Thailand is ruled by a military junta who are using Covid as an excuse to continually extend the state of emergency. So don't plan on any restrictions being removed. Already they are backtracking on declaring the virus endemic by July 1st. There are so many businesses that have closed permanently and of course bars & entertainment venues have been closed for over a year although some have reopened as restaurants. Life here is dull, people see no light at the end of the tunnel. Enjoy your return.
