When he said: Why does this show hate Applejack so much?" I noticed his usual demeanour changed. He broke character. He's dead serious folks...and right of course. There was a time when fans didn't like her, sure, but the show.. Oh boy.
She is still one of the most unpopular characters. It’s not like she is disliked but she doesn’t have much passionate fans either.
@@sarasamaletdin4574 true
@@sarasamaletdin4574 The comment above you seems to disagree with us both. Can't tell if they're indeed salty, didn't watch the video or just unaware of the past.
@@sarasamaletdin4574 This pretty much sums up my feelings on Applejack. She was always my least favourite, not because I outright hated her, but I felt like she was the only one who just wasn't interesting enough to carry an episode.
Wow, I had no idea people disliked her. I never really gave much thought as to whether I liked her or not. I guess she’s one of my least favorites, cause, like the previous comments stated, she just isn’t interesting enough.
Actually, this episode is a good demonstration of the idiom "The shoemaker's children have no shoes". The general concept is that it's easy to recognize faults in someone else, but not so easy to recognize the faults in one's self, even if it's the same fault. I mean, this episode sure does exaggerate it. But the point is that even if you recognize a fault in someone else, you may not recognize that you yourself have this fault because, in your mind, it's a system that works. It's basically the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality at its most extreme. Just because a system works, it doesn't mean it's at its most efficient. Especially if that's how you were raised and taught.
That acually reminds me of a story.
Basically my Great-grandmother always cut the end off of her chicken before she cooked it, so that's how my maternal Grandma learned it. So when my mom was a kid, that's still how Grandma cooked her chicken. One day, Mom asked Grandma why she cut the ends off the chicken before cooking it. Grandma said that's just how *her* mom did it and she didn't know why. So Grandma called *her* mom and asked why she cut the ends off her chicken.
It was because the pot was too small.
My Grandma had just assumed that was a special trick or something and started doing it herself, even though her pot was plenty big.
Thanks for reading this random storytime 😊
In my opinion, this should not work for this episode, for various reasons.Considering that AJ's family is away in this episode, she is left with all the work, but you can't say that they wouldn't notice the amount of extra work she does.So this begs the question:does her family knows what she is doing, but they either don't care or secretly laugh at her, or are they just as dumb?
@@CyberWarezz05 You presented a false dichotomy. Here's a third option. Those are all part of her normal chores. The chores get done and so don't question how. So like AJ, the rest of the doesn't take into consideration that AJ's process is unnecessary.
@@CyberWarezz05 i mean probably apple bloom question her big Mac is busy somewhere else and granny Smith encourage her to do it like that
I know the gyroscopic toolbelt thing was a joke, but that could be an interesting bit of worldbuilding for a fanfic.
The pouches just need to attach to the belt on a single pivoting point, like a button in a buttonhole.
@@featherpony I thought this too. A gyroscope would an over-engineered solution. Single works fine as long as the tools are heavy enough to make gravity do the work.
@@PlebNC The bottom (floor) of the pouch could be weighted with something (bit of sand sealed in a flat pouch?) that would make the bottom of the pouch want to be closest to the ground.
@@featherpony That could work as long as the combined weight of the sand and tools aren't too burdensome.
WhAts a gYrOscOpE?
No wonder Applejack is willing to go to the spa. The writers kept doing her dirty.
I think Applejack got off easy, compared to How Fancy Pants was Downgraded in MLP's Later Years (INCLUDING PONY LIFE,) and The Later Years of Equestria Girls.
Oh, also The Infamous Grogar Twist and how Discord's Character Development was demolished.
@@The_Double_U THEY DID DISCORD SO DIRTY LOL
"Oh, the guy we spent several episodes teaching about friendship is actually never going to change his ways and will just keep unintentionally endangering ponykind. Hope you enjoyed the finale!"
I hated the season 9 finale twist. Discord was such a funny and likable character, being sly and cunning at the same time. And then they went and dumbed him down. Like seriously, did this mean all that drama in the season 9 trailer with discord getting hurt and everything, it was all fake? Equestria was in danger, cause of discord’s stupid prank? Ughhhhhhh sorry I needed to vent somewhere
@@graphitetailgrace3870
It was made worse by how gullible he was being too.
And also We were all Lied to about Grogar being The Main Antagonist in Season 9.
All that hype, led to Disappointment showing he was actually Discord.
I Despise This Plot Twist, because There was so much potential with actually Having Grogar being The Final Villain, and they wasted it.
Spike is usually the most rational one. He's only not when he's the focus of the episode.
Maybe being the focus character somehow makes you dumber for the sake of the episode XD
@@inevitableanarchy4203 yeah that would make sense
@@inevitableanarchy4203 That's what we call "holding the idiot stick" -_-
sad but true
@@candarus_collective Unfortunately so in this case, it just can't be helped.
"Applejack being karen by ... and fixing things herself", I am pretty sure that isnt what karens would do
Perhaps "fix" with heavy air quotes.
@@LittleshyFiM Karens' way of fixing things are more like being a 4 year old and destroying everything including pplz salinity.
Karens usually make things worse.
Things I enjoyed in the episode:
1. RD`s development from being afraid of pedicures to enjoying them, and how she hilariously tries to do it in secrecy to maintain her rad persona
2. Spa sisters` accents
3. Getting to look around the spa more
Which Is a similar thing to what happened when when read the Daring-Do Book- *Now look*
And maybe she learnt this lesson in order to maybe love the spa eventually? Maybe? I dunno. But I won't judge if you ❤ the Spa or Books or if you don't- You can still be cool regardless. What's not cool is Rainbow Dash being Insulting
The sprinkler thing is especially silly, because the way AJ did it is actually better than what Twi did -- assuming that water pressure physics exist in Equestria. But evidently they don't.
Why did the show writers butcher all the characters in the last few seasons? Applejack had always been kinda stubborn but never to this embarrassing extent. The writers butchered my poor girl.
I think it's less stubbornness and more doing things by habit to the point you forgot why you did it in the first place.
they butchered literally all of the mane 6 really. i guess to push the school 6 to help them out so something, that’s what i noticed in the last few seasons
I realy didn't like Rairty getting more and more oblivious by the season eighter.
Flanderization. New writers came in and didn't know how to write for the characters aside from running their most basic traits into the ground.
@@Chiwowza I suppose one of the issues with having characters with flaws and having them improve over time is inevitably they get flanderised to some extent. Only so many times character growth can shave off the rough edges.
Fun Fact:
Horses will occasionally eat meat (mostly birds) to supplement their diet and get nutrients that aren't found in their normal diet (Like protein and calcium) so the pigs just might have a purpose after all...
I saw this episode as a contradiction to the way Granny Smith makes zap apple jam by yelling at bottles and jumping over them in a bunny outfit. The lesson in that case was that such things were legitimate.
Good observation
ah, I never thought about that. The difference seems to be that Granny Smith held value and enjoyment in those unnecessary tasks, while AJ is only needlessly burdened and frustrated bcos of the extra steps. So I guess the lesson is, its okay to do needless things that take up your time if they make the time feel worthwile, but dont waste time on things that are needless and stressful. And I believe that is a pretty valuable lesson
@@jemimahrajakumar7770 Actually, they said it was impossible to make zap apple jam correctly without those extra steps. It wasn't about Granny Smith enjoying those things for fun.
Granny Smith: "Just like harvestin' the zap apples had its special rules, so did makin' zap apple jam. I learned that you gotta be extra friendly with the bees, otherwise their honey won't taste rightly sweet to mix in with the zap apples. Who'd'a thought that glass jars needed talkin' to? Or that zap apples like pink polka dots? But magic is as magic does. Just funny that way."
@@featherpony ah, I guess I forgot abt that part. Thanks!
@@featherpony My question is just how did she figure this stuff out? Be good to bees for best honey makes sense, and I guess making sure your jars aren't going to break easy is good, but at what point do you put on a bunny suit hopping over watering cans singing the alphabet song?
Spike tends to be highly competent and the voice of reason even, just not usually when he's in the spotlight because the writers are goofs.
The pigs could be truffle hunters.
oh great. I thought Diamond Tiara's mother was the only Karen in MLP. Now I know that Applejack is also a Karen. Oof
Karens are bitches who only knows how to complain about everything and never do something to fix those things themselves. AJ, on the other hoof, while being stubborn because she didn't get what she wants, actually tried to fix the problem herself. She even learn from her mistakes.
Worst pony now has the personally of worst person
@@hiccy6927 so basically my dad.
**cough** Honest Apple **cough**
2:20 You also forgot the fact of her mane being blond too and her forlock being short like a Karen
This is the best episode in mlp......the best at being the worst.
There are episodes that are way worse than this.
@@baffledbrandon3132 like what? All other episodes are amazing. Well maybe not "the cystaling" since the villains are clouds, but compared to this episode its not so bad.
@@Linoluvsss that one episode where Rarity got jealous of spikes new friend, Gabby, or that other episode where Pinky annoyed her friends with a Yak instrument
@@peachesncharlotte oh.............well they are not the best.
Rainbow Falls
Honestly, I am kind of surprised when Applejack makes that face😂
0:23 Funnily enough, there's actually a fanfic where Rainbow Dash is apparently cursed (key word, apparently) to say the word 'darling' over and over again. I don't remember who wrote it, but it's called 'Rainbow Dash's Darling Day', Look it up.
I wonder if AJ's family ever noticed her time-wasting shenanigans. Would they think its all good or are they too embarrased to tell AJ she's doing it all wrong?
A: Pigs eat leftovers and make fertilizer. Useful on a farm.
B: Anypony wonder exactly where Rarity is keeping that pocket watch when she has no pockets? 🤭
💚🐇🐴💚
To be honest, to me this episode always kinda felt like a repeat of "Green Isn't Your Color"...you know in terms of Rarity wanting to spend time with a friend at the spa and all that.
I think This Episode is worth watching, JUST for watching Applejack act like a Chicken and making Faces at The Pigs, and Rainbow Dash getting caught going to The Spa.
The Rest of The Episode, Not so much. I actually usually skip This Episode when wanting too watch MLP.
Darling darling darlingdaaaarling
*Translation*
Keep up with the amazing content
5:17 why does everyone assume Ponish doesn’t just naturally sound like English?
Oh my god, I'm soooooooo excited. Flutter Brutter is my favorite episode of Season 6! I can't wait for this video! There will never be a pony like the ridiculous Zeph. It's gonna be so much fun.
As a fan of Applejack, I HATED how this episode made her out to be such an incompetant. Surely there was other way to teach that lesson than showing that AJ can't even farm good.
Well, it's bound to happen eventually. When your characters develop to a certain point you either end the show because they have nowhere to go, add in new main characters, or regress your characters so they can relearn stuff they already learned ages ago. Point 2 is how we got Starlight and eventually the School 6.
@@kyuubinaruto17 But that episode was not even regressing to relearn the same thing. It was making her forget the very core of her character. Pinky Pie was making a better job at farming in magical mystery cure!
@Hadeshy sorry for the late comment , but ikr? If I were Hasbro, I would've made AJ the SOLUTION to the problem instead, cuz it makes more sense (in my mind).
This episode finally gave us canonical accents for the Spa twins.
This Episode exists because we needed an excuse to put AJ and Rarity in the same episode
7:00
If that was what he said im the actual episode i would be both confused and laughing
Im sorry, the idea of a changling enjoying a hooficure is hilarious
For some reason the writers think that to make an episode with a moral about honesty, farming, or family-ing, they have to make Applejack bad at it first, which just makes her seem like she's really not good at anything she's known for.
"One look at the list should've convinced Twilight that Applejack is not right in the head."
Yeah, but can we say in good conscience that ANY of them have EVER been right in the head? Lol!
I opened RUclips this morning wondering when the next Cinemare Sins video was coming out 😆
I can't remember what it was anymore (because it was so long ago), but this episode made me realize I was doing something unnecessary that was a fix for a problem that no longer existed.
I wish we got more actually GOOD Applejack episodes
1:23 wait… why DO they own pigs?
Yes
One weird thing is the title.
Applejack's "Day Off": Would imply that it wasn't a day off, even though it seemed like it
Applejack's "Day" Off: Makes it sound like the "day" part was a lie, and it was actually a night off, or a week off.
Ah yes one of the most bland/boring/not bad episodes of the series.
Yeah.
The only reason I can think of having pigs on an Equestrian farm would be for truffle hunting or being adorable, and they already have Winona for both of those. This comment shows just how much of a city-slicker I really am.
Horses will occasionally eat meat to supplement their diets.
Granted it's usually birds but pigs work too :P
"Why do the show hates Applejack?" Why don't you?
"Without working a day in their life RARITY!" Rarity has been working since she was a child, just because she works in what she loves (and can find precious gem whenever she wants) doesn't mean it is not work.
I don't know why the Applejack chicken dance came after the callback to Spoon drawer line is so funny but it is and I love it.
The Werefrog love the running joke of Spike being the smart one, with how often that joke gets made.
“Darling?”
“Darling, darling.”
“Darling.”
“Darling!”
He sinned that the gate was squeaking, but am clearly said that it used to squeak SO LOUD.
Notice how as the series goes on, the sins become less and less nitpicky and more and more actual glaring problems with the overall script.
Yeah that's so true. I do feel like the later episodes have a decline in writing quality.
@LittleshyFiM when Spike asked Rarity what she was going to get and she said she was going to get Applejack I thought “ huh Apple Jack was for sale I didn’t know that”. And that made me laugh too
Whoa dude, I watched your videos 8 years ago. Aesthetics and quality increased a ton, not that that's surprising, keep it up!
I’m surprised Littleshy didn’t mention the Mission Impossible reference
I like the clunk sound effect for the sins
*BONUS:* applejack does a chicken dance for the pigs, though horses can barely stand on their two limbs without support, she makes it look so easy and tells the law of physics to fuck off. 2: applejack claims that the pig fence is loose, yet doesn't enhance it using the tools SHE CLEARLY DID MINUTES LATER IN THE EPISODE. 3: twilight uses a rope to hold herself as shes feeding the pigs, then why even bother using *"WINGS!"* . cmon twilight you had ONE JOB!. SIN SUMMARY: this is confusion
She literally fixed the gate, but forgot the habit was useless.
I’m just gonna say it: the show definitely saw a slight dip in quality once Amy Keating Rogers left at the end of season 5.
It was also when MA Larson left as story editor 😭
Applejack went full on KAREN mode
The ending gag is gold !! 🤣
Boy, this MLP episode sure does exist, doesn’t it?
this is so far my favourite video from ur channel
1:29 - That's a good point! In a land of intelligent herbivores, why would anyone raise pigs?? (I've never tried pig milk and don't know anyone who has, but somehow I don't think it would be very good.)
Pigs are great for composting! They eat food waste and turn it into fertilizer
this is just. an episode.
if i remember correctly, twilight’s “easy solution” for watering the plants was… turning the wheels all at once … with unicorn magic?? how is applejack meant to do this on her own
Open the other wheels before open the big one.
42 is the meaning of anything and everything
I like the way that the discription says:🍎🐴🌞📱
I’ve been a fan of MLP since the first season, and can I just say,
*What the hell is this episode?*
4:35
Trough is right next to the fence where food could easily be dumped in from the OUTSIDE of the pen. **Ding**
I love these videos so much, they’re so enjoyable to watch lmao
This is the same season everyone was replaced by changelings Maybe the little things in the background are just little hints. Like how Celestia was super rude at twilights party in no second prances when she is normally more polite and playful.
the ads- double unskippable, plays perfectly clear with no lag
the video as soon as i finally get to it- huge amount of lag, cruddy quality, 1fps framerate, audio with no video, etc etc
repeat 2 or 3 times with me refreshing the page and even restarting my whole computer and finally yt stops being a bish an lets me watch the video normally
...
thanks a lot yt -_-
As far as I'm aware RUclips doesn't show multiple unskippable ads. When they do show an unskippable ad, it shouldn't be longer than 20 seconds. It sounds like there may be an issue with your computer especially with all of the lag and frame dropping you describe. It's possible your browser was hijacked by some kind of malware to show malicious advertising which isn't from RUclips. I recommend a scan with something reputable like Malwarebytes.
I only just realized that AJ apparently had OCD (needing to do eeevery step in routine for years)
Now if only my OCD could be cured this easily…
I guess that makes her as bad as Twilight.
Not proud of how many times I forget this series exists
Arguably one of the worst episodes in the show, and a clear sign that writers had no idea how to use Applejack anymore
At least it isn't Yakety Sax.
@@imveryangryitsnotbutter yeah lol i never watched it because of how stupid the premise is
A Matter of Principals is my least favorite just because it ruined Discord for me.
The only episode i refuse to watch is the last daring do one where she becomes friends with alizodo or how you spell his name....
@@HandheldGamer1991 Ahuizotl
It only does the show hate applejack, the toys do too
I'm sure Hasbro will accept you as their supervisor to make sure no error in their aniamtion , also i feel like Spa pony is talking some kind of language . Now your really mention it , it was really interesting Littleshy
(Idk if somebody already commented this but)
I just realized that ponies have their eyes at the front of their face....
Ponies are predators and hunt for food.
Man, when Applejack was dancing like a chicken, I thought was as cute as a chicken when she was doing the chicken dance.
To this day I'm convinced this was one of those employee workplace videos that HR somehow thinks are not a waste of people's time that was doing the rounds at Hasbro that somehow then ended up being mistaken for a MLP script and animated.
Yeah, this isn't anypony's finest moment. (Spike, meanwhile, did the best he could with all the crazy horses.)
Applejack doesn’t have an illegal pig farm.
I think they actually confirmed that the pigs are for companionship and for hunting truffles??
Fun fact:applejack and rarity are in love
I’m just gonna say something that should be said way more often. Applejack is the best pony. She’s a great character but is only ever brought into the spotlight to be petty. She deserves better.
2 things-
Didn't know Applejack is a Karen (That's just *great* but it's interesting and I think she's a nicer, kinder one) And that well b4 you say she's awful she's clearly as flawed as the rest of the 6- Twilight isn't orginally a good friendship person to give an example
I love this series. Also yeah Spike is usually the one with the brain.
"KarenJack"
Wait, why does Sweet Apple Acres have pigs anyway? The ponies are vegetarian, dragons eat gems, are they for selling to griffons? Maybe they’re pets?
Episodes like this one make me ask myself why I regard Applejack as 'Best Pony', especially knowing that DJ Pon-3 and Octavia exist in this universe.

And we have finally, finally gotten to the part of the series I left off at. Now I get to see episode summaries of the ones I haven't seen yet, without bothering to go watch the rest of the series go downhill. Woo!
