I like how you educate us DIYers what and why you're doing what you do. What materials are best, what tools are needed and things to consider before, during and after you build. Thanks a million! ♥️👍🏻🇺🇸
Little tip on the grass at the side of deck to get a nice grass finish get a spade take out a tiny bit of mud from under the grass without damaging the grass then press the grass down to curve over the mud to give it that better look 👍🏻
Looking good lads. Some on here Brand bragging should watch the Torque test channel and learn a few things. No customer I have ever worked for has ever asked me what brand of tool I use and never had one complaint on my work. Also I wonder how many know Decking Board can come both side grooved and how many engage not having a clue what the client has asked for. I have had loads of jobs where I have advised the correct way to do jobs but they have wanted their own version. Great job guys.
9:10 Gods watering can 😉🙏🏼 Spot on about the tools Dave. All I have is a Spade,a 5 foot wrecking bar,a decent hand saw ,a £60 Cordless with two batteries,a wheel barrow,a bag of hand tools, chisel’s and 30 years experience in Civil and Military Engineering. Yes it takes me longer and yes it takes more effort but the job gets done to a high standard and I never run over my quotes. My only concern is my sparse tools array getting robbed by a full kit wanker in poser clobber 😉👍🏼
I'm a 53 year old scouser living in Galicia nw spain and I've no idea why I'm watching this video. After watching several of your videos I have to say it's good to see workman doing excellent work, taking pride in their work and doing it as fast as they can and thinking about the customer. Well done fellas. There's only one thing though youse talk funny...haha! Where are youse from Nottingham? Derby?. Learn to talk properly lol.
Just had a knee replacement op so got plenty of time on my hands come across your channel great vids and some quality music and you always do a good job Keep it up lads
Hi guys. Great work as usual, did some decking for a customer and used the Allen key spacer for the first time. Great idea will definitely do this from now on.. cheers boys and girls.. Tony
Good videos lads 👍. I had some concrete posts off you last year and one of your videos popped up I thought D & J that rings a bell 😂. I like how you two encourage people to try stuff themselves. I hope the channel keeps doing well 👍
Stevie & asny. What a fantastic job you have done on the fencing job, well done lads. Dave, as I have said there are drivers and screwdrivers, you my friend are definitley a driver . Keep up doing what you are doing.
Oi Dave I’m not old I use inch when working with wood, I’m not a pro so I find it easier 😂. I don’t have the proper gear nor the Materials but I did have a idea 💡 so during lockdown I reclaimed some decking and the frames, I cleaned them all up and got what tools I had out and made a big decking across the back of my house and closed it all in and it’s been up almost 2 years, i liked the idea 💡 of allenkeys for spacers for the decking boards I used packers that all I could think of at the time but worked. A great insight to build a little decking Dave and Stevie 👍 few things I would change how I done mine to how you done yours defo, for future reference I’ll do it 🤝.
Good point on Ryobi. Tool snobbery is silly....lovely little decking job ....."agitated" 👍🏻 I think it was....but who knows with Steve 😜 As per super job..... I saw a video the other day on what is the right way (side) to lay decking ....many lay it with the ribbed side down for air whereas I've always laid it like you with ribs up for grip....what's your opinion ? Take care both and see you on Sunday 👌👍🏻✋
I’ve been doing decking for around 12 years now and honestly the biggest tip I can give for smaller sized decks is to pay attention to what direction you put your boards on IE left to right or front to back. Can give you the illusion the deck is bigger than it actually is sometimes.
Thanks. Commenting so i give you the hits. Looking at how I can design an outside gym platform and this really helps. I only need the frame not the decking.
As for getting the decking frame square- 3,4,5 is a good way to make sure it’s square- another way is to measure corner to corner 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Top video again guys! Soon be 10k subs
I agree mate I put my decking together with a cheap 40 quid Amazon drill I have upgraded since but it lasted me 3 years building sheds decking normal home stuff lol
Love your video guys 👌 Just subscribed. You and your dad do a great job and easy step by step shown! Keep it up boys. Can wait to see the planters being built👌
I own complete roybi tool set and I'm a council contractor and put my tools through its paces and they never let me down 1 year later I'm now looking at their new HP+ line
Good job lads! I've just done a load of decking for someone, once I was about to finish the owners wife wanted me to also fit the plastic decking on top. 🤣 Any footage of making up panels and in the wear house? If not can I come down and have a blast. Lol
I want to build my own deck as I have a low income. Could I use pallets as a base if I wood preserve? Ground sheet etc on the base. Would love to do decking at a 45 degree angle. Love that your notts based
Me I use challenge or performance cheap but gets the job done plus I’ve had this challenge Angel grinder for 7 years and changed the brushes twice work’s every time
I did a deck last year and did a screw space, but the gap has gone a bit too big for my liking now. If I did it again I would butt them right up against each other as if they have just been dipped then will only shrink.
Considering doing decking, but do I need post anchors for mounting onto concrete, or is there another method? Obviously, it would rot quicker if placed directly on concrete. Any help would be appreciated
Nice to see you using 3 4 5 to square it up, ideally you should do 3ft 4ft 5ft gives you a bigger reference area and ensure the whole frame is square rather than a few inches 👍🏻
I worked for Nottingham City Council for 9 years and had to wear these terribly uncomfortable trousers so going to the tough gear joggers is a blessing! We fully recommend them!
Another tidy job boys I noticed at the end you seemed to have added 4x2 round the edge do you always do that on your decking jobs. oh and regarding your dad tidying the sawn edges I thought it was just me doing it but I'm old school DIY and use a small hand plane
I'm like your old man don't like waring glove when I worked. But I'm on the permanent disabled list but before I let it become a permanent thing I hung drywall taped and textured drywall for 13 years until my doctor got tired of reading in my file that I was in the E.R. again because my back was spasmodic or uncontrollable back spasms or both legs were cramping up even when pounding down water
I’m a bit late to the D&J show but loving the videos lads, great work, pure graft, and great to see a Dad and Lad working together like you two do! Nice little decking tutorial, gonna do this myself, stupid question but what size timbers/joists did you use?
Agree its not about the tools, although decent tools makes it easier, was having a nightmare putting some DIY decking together with a cheap £30 Amazon drill. Went and brought a naff £50 Black and Decker combi which just about got it done but the job would have been much easier with a decent drill.
Top lads . This is what England is made off .. Meaning father and son working absolutely fantastic . Keep it up and keep vids rolling

Love how you guys keep your muddy feet off the deck, that’s pride in your work
Hey -it’s great that father & son get on so well.Good work as ever.
Son and dad team is amazing it is nice to see such a good team at work

Good morning just come across your channel last night. Such amazing work from you all. Keep up the good work and keep the video coming.

Love it Papa and Sun. Love it. Have all the tools but no idea. 101%. Spot On with skill and humour. Great stuff. Mr.Garrick
About this new project... Is it a repeat costumer? That fence looks familiar to us. Great witness of how much your customers love your work. 🇺🇸👍🏻♥️
Great stuff again lads. Top quality work and a fantastic video.
Stevie & asny. What a fantastic job you have done on the fencing job, well done lads. Dave, as I have said there are drivers and screwdrivers, you my friend are definitley a driver . Keep up doing what you are doing.

Yeah startin to love these videos nuff love
I agree mate I put my decking together with a cheap 40 quid Amazon drill I have upgraded since but it lasted me 3 years building sheds decking normal home stuff lol
You need a ground cemented post in the front middle and back, right where everyone steps the most. It will warp in less than two years.
Can't believe how fast your channel is growing. I've been making woodwork videos for about 2yrs & not even hit 2000 subs yet. Keep up the great work
not sure why we have blown up like this lol
@@DJProjectss i do, its because your content is awesome its that simple
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 thank you 🙏
Another great job, good to see the channel is growing.

Your editing skills have certainly improved since the first vlog, well done guys 💯👌🏻

If you work for the council then you use your tools 3 times a year if your lucky mate
@@kierancoates5997 I fucking wished, that would mean my days was easy lol, since covid there's a mental amount of work to be down in the housing

Nice nice nice! We finally got our first video online! Let us know what you think!
Keep it up guys!
Subs flying up fellas
Well deserved 👏
Don't worry about the words, Dave...we knew exactly what you meant! 😉👍
Spot on
Nice video. Do you know the boards are upside down? The grooves should be on the underside
Really I thought it was always grooves up to add grip and water run off?
Looking forward to seeing the planter build
future video!
Beaut job, are the decking planks upside down?
They’re the right way up panda pops, the grove side up is supposed to make them anti slip when wet
Well said about the tool brands!! You are prime examples of 'it's not the tools, it's how you use them'!
Can't stand snobbery.
How you guys ain’t got more subscribers is beyond me , brilliant content keep them coming lads 👌
Another great job, not to shabby 😉
2.2K in 8 months.
Great job crew.

Just came across your video great job. I wanted to know as you only used 4 posts, for this job. How many posts would I need for 2.7m x 3m decking?
Top trades men 👍😎

Hummm sure you said you was going to show how to build the the planter. I didn't think D&J rolled that way. 🤣🤣🤣
future video buddy
What were the type of screws you used for the decking?
You 2 getting right good round the camera now you will be getting called out by jake & logan paul next jokes aside channel looks banging lads
Great great great👍👍👍
How does stevie & davie find the tough gear work joggers... Any good? I was looking into something similar for work myself
I worked for Nottingham City Council for 9 years and had to wear these terribly uncomfortable trousers so going to the tough gear joggers is a blessing! We fully recommend them!
You soo wanna be a rapper / gangster init broth.you make me laugh boy 🤣😂
What size of screws do you use for the 4x2 base ?
