I think a major reason why people were 'confused' about this is because of what he has said about his experiences with religion. He was raised in a very Christian household, homeschooled, and only really allowed to associate with other Christians or within the Church. This may be totally okay with some people, but Joshua was also sexually abused by an adult within the church he attended. He speaks about it on his interview on the Zach Sang show, how an older man in his church forced him into a sexual/romantic relationship and how he was publicly shamed at the church for it. He explains on incident of a leader seeing them 'in the act', and instead of wondering why a young teenager was having sexual relations with an adult, they spread it around the church and to his peers to shame him for it. So it is really amazing if Joshua was able to claim back his faith, but I also understand how people can be worried since he has very recently spoken about the terrible experiences and shaming he has experienced through religion, and how he has said he is still healing for it and how difficult it has been.
It was not a member of his Church, it was a member of his family when he was a young child. When he was a freshman it was a student at his drama school.

Hold on hold on, so yesterday during church I was praying hard to God begging for a revelation in this world that people all over the world may turn to Christ and I was begging God that I must see on social media people turning to God that there has to be a mass realisation In the world and I kept praying. Okay everyone hold up. He has always been religious, always. He has spoken about how he was raised in religion but in the wrong way, he was raised in fear. When he went into septic shock he spoke about praying to god, the one and only, because he was dying. He had full prayers for the first time in his life. NOW, all of that being said, he is still a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I hope you all can respect and understand that this is the way he was born. He has left church after church, including the one where he was recently re-baptized, because of their stance on the LGBTQ+ community. He will not waver. He will pray on his own, every day, every night and never step foot in a church again. So it is my suggestion that the Catholic community just lighten up a little bit. There are people out there who believe Jesus is our Savior, God is our Father, and are members of the LGBTQ community. If it were me, the doors would be open.

When I first saw josh in hstmtmts I thought he was the bad guy that broke Olivia's heart etcetera etcetera ... And when I started listening to his music I totally made up my mind cause i fell in love with his singing and his voice and his amazing and fan personality. At this point as an Olivia's fan I decided to stay out of the whole drama and just support them both . But then josh released set me free, Crisis and secret and then this 1 hour amazing podcast. This way josh was given the opportunity to talk about his side of the story. After that I started to support him more than Olivia especially after his very last song lifeline I'm which he's describing the way he was about to die because of the hate that he was getting and he was given a 30% possibilities to live, if I am not being mistaken, and then fortunately a miracle happened and his pure soul is still with us.all I wanna say is that as a Christian myself I was struggling to find the relationship that I used to have with God that I felt like loosing due to my mental health problems. When I first heard Joshua talking about Jesus I immediately felt tears coming from my eyes . I don't know why . I just felt like that was a sign from god to tell me that everything is going to be alright.
