He was impeached previously. The Senate, under Republican control, refused to hear evidence or witness testimony regarding the foreign election interference welcomed by Trump or the obstruction of Congressional Special Investigation his administration committed. That does not nullify impeachment. It just refused to try him for election fraud and obstruction of Congress. Now more Senators are likely to want to hear arguments and even McConnell wants to have it actually tried. When people try to make this seem like a smear job on Trump they are forgetting that this is how the Constitution is written to allow constraint of Presidential power when that President is unworthy of the office by his actions and statements.

I’m hoping that the history books are accurate about everything that went down last year, plus, during this whole administration, holding everyone accountable for their part. The Senate, under Republican control, refused to hear evidence or witness testimony regarding the foreign election interference welcomed by Trump or the obstruction of Congressional Special Investigation his administration committed. That does not nullify impeachment. It just refused to try him for election fraud and obstruction of Congress.
Now more Senators are likely to want to hear arguments and even McConnell wants to have it actually tried.
