jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy | Kanye Raps In The Roc-A-Fella Offices | Netflix
/ netflix
The lives of an emerging superstar and a filmmaker intertwine in this intense, intimate docuseries charting Kanye West's career, filmed over two decades.
The fact that so many people were not impressed with his music before the fame goes to show no one will ever believe in you until the numbers are there.
to be fair the guy in the video tweeted out he heard it 10x before that time. Basically he was just putting on a show. But yeah, no one is going to believe in you prematurely. And most people are that way, the people who do believe are called investors.
Facts man
Same goes with sports. "Scouting".

This is easily one of my favorite clips from this episode of Jeen-Yuhs. The fact that he’s playing an absolute hit and no one seems to care just leaves me wordless
Exactly!!!
Did you actually watch the episode? This is not an audition and these are not A&R people who have any kind of say on signing new artists. He literally just walked into the Roc-a-fella office without an appointment, and started rapping in front of random employees, like marketing people, secretaries, all of whom were visibly super uncomfortable and not sure why he was doing this. He might as well be rapping at the drive thru of the McDonalds and then complaining why Ronald McDonald won't come see him.
@@GotNextVideo he literally knew them all you donut wasn’t that deep
@@willclark3962 Of course he did. But there was no reason for him to be in their office playing his demo, there's are people that have no power to sign him and who have jobs they're trying to do.

Loved the first episode. The moments with his moms really heartwarming. The way she told him ‘a giant looks in the mirror and sees nothing.’ He then says ‘I’m too arrogant?’ And she replies ‘ No. A giant can be in the sky and on the ground at the same time.’… he was so tuned in.. he respected her every word. Donda stole the show for me.

What did she mean by that “a giant looks in the mirror and sees nothing”???
@@himynamespaul7954 pride or ego being too big you cant self-reflect in the mirror. You see nothing wrong with yourself. In this context I'd say people around him saw him as an egoistic person but Kanye never saw that because he was being himself.

The truth is, they wanted to use Kanye to produce the hits for endless albums on the Roc, that would make them hundreds of millions of more dollars than Kanye putting them on only 1-2 albums.
So they tried keeping him in a box as only a producer. But Ye too unstoppable to be contained. Very important life lessons show in this documentary.
I love how unimpressed she looks for how much this song is a instant hit 😂 on first listen for me
It's not so much unimpressed as confused why there is a man standing in her office and rapping when she works in marketing and has nothing to do with talent acquisition...
@@GotNextVideo 💀
@@GotNextVideo impressions..
Fun fact, this is the demo for all falls down. The female singing is actually a Lauren hill sample unlike the interpolated hook that came out on the final version.
The one that came out was a massive hit
I'm glad Lauryn pulled on the sample cause Syleena Johnson is a great vocalist and really made that song what it was
@@MightSiiigh agreed. But I can’t tell if that’s because it’s what I’m used to or if it’s legitimately better 🤔
@@Vageta1999 me personally I think she made the song better. The fact that she did those rifts herself and even made it like her voice was "falling down" is incredible to me

She was the one that pushed him to keep doing music. You can tell he got his confidence from her energy and that she really cared about him and his future. She was the one who got him his connection to No I.D and if that never happened who knows where he'd be right now.
The doc is incredible, def worth watching... unbelievable archive footage and Kanye's determination to break the mold of producer and be seen and respected as a rapper is a testament to his work ethic and determination... Film is put together very well and makes a great narrative about a modern day icon...
The college dropout came out when I was struggling in college (as a junior/senior) and ended up shortly thereafter dropping out or taking a 10 year break. I remember really appreciating the album and listening to it often back in 2004 (and beyond). Pretty cool they’re sharing this footage now. Love a good origin story.

@@dwmlearning9671 wow. That's dedication. What was the main problem you think?
It's crazy that he could rap his heart out in front of people that you can just tell were just waiting for him to leave, and have it not faze him. Same thing happened when he went to Dame's crib and started playing his music; Dame listened at first and then left his own crib while Kanye was still playing his music. He had to have noticed what was happening but he didn't let it affect his determination. He had talent but his work ethic and determination is really what makes him great.
