Interesting conversation. Christmas Vacation is a stone cold classic. As you guys imply, it is ultimately a sweet story about Clark and his devotion to his family (and Cousin Eddie's loyalty as well).
It is! I didn't really get it a few years ago the first time I watched it but since then it has really started to click for me. Maybe it's me getting older but I just feel like I get it now.
It’d be interesting to see this story from Ellen’s viewpoint. She was the one entertaining, feeding, coordinating, and cleaning up after all those people while Clark went trotting off to work each day. At least she got a swimming pool out of it.
Yeah good point! I was watching her reactions during some of Clark's antics! Like when he drove under that logging truck. That would make an interesting sequel!
