The spinal cord thing is a Ciconia reference. I won't spoil exactly what it is but it comes from probably one of the most brutal scenes in all of When They Cry, which is why it's such a crazy connection/reference to make.

Yes, in that scene everyone is cut down in a meat factory until they're nothing but a brain with a spinal cord, but the narration points out that they're somehow still alive. The most commonly accepted theory about this scene at the moment (since only part 1 of Ciconia is out rn and no one knows the real answer yet) is that the brain/spinal cords are put into a virtual simulation, and that simulation is Ciconia. This scene seems to imply that the Satoko equivalent in Ciconia is currently one of those spinal cords.

Jesus christ I knew it! You're right btw that IS the most gut wrenching and saddest moment in all of ciconia. AND IT MAKES SENSE how this is all a game of perspectives. Everyone is trapped in that hell but living in other dream like experiences , which allow anything to happen in them (higurashi and Umineko). I'm very excited to see the meaning of what Jayden said at the end on phase 1.

I'm glad i finished Ciconia yesterday lol, but God this might be Gou's most important part, maybe the end will truly surprise us...

interesting. So this could mean several things.
1.Vier (Ciconia's takano lookalike) has met Featherine in a place called the Red Sea (probably the sea of fragments of ciconia)
2.the Satoko lookalike of Ciconia is in the spinal cord factory for some reason
3.Featherine confused Satoko for Vier so this means that Gou is either after Ciconia or is happening in the same time period. It may be Featherine and her memory problems though.

You know, now that I think about it, but Featherine is p much Ryukishi, (Umineko spoilers ahead now)
She is the Witch of Theater, and at the end of ep 6 of Umineko Chiru and ep 7, is shown to be the true controller of the events of Umineko, but only monologues on the sidelines. AKA she is the reason behind all of the events of Higurashi, Umineko, and Ciconia at once
So uhh I started watching Gou cause I loved the of Higurashi and now I’m totally entranced. Where do I go now? I’ve head the Umineko anime sucks so the games I guess? But also Ciconia or something??? yea anime is "oof" but game doesn't sucks. it explains everysh.t and it's really good like musics, scenario, dialogues, characters, voice actings... imo. forget about Ciconia for a while. I suggest u to watch both umineko and higurashi animes. then u should watch visual novels. (or play, buy it on steam or whatelse idk i didn't buy, there are plenty of youtubers who are playing them) i didn't watch VNs yet because i'm busy now. u know, exams.. but i watched some scenes and they were cool. that's all i can say. : )
Start with Umineko visual novels available on steam and then get the PS3 Mod for better sprites. Or, if you want a clearer explanation but without awesome music and voice acting, you can read the Umineko manga. After you finish all 8 of Umineko, take some time, let it rest, you've read the best piece of fiction ever (imo). After that, you can start reading Ciconia visual novel, which is also on steam. No mods needed for that one. They are both amazing.

At first I thought it was a piece of Featherine's (come on, the AuAu~ is a link between her "human" name, too. And the fact that Bern calls her AuAurora even though Featherine says that's not her name links them too)

Furthermore, if Featherine gave powers to them both, then where's Lambdadelta in all of this?
ALSO, I've been wondering if Higurashi is REALLY the story where Bern and Lambda fought or not. Sure, Takano's story might be linked to Lambda, but what if that's not the case?
Maybe, the real fight between Bern and Lambda is not the fight that Rika had with Takano, but the fight she is about to have with Satoko.
So, Higurashi could be read as: Featherine gets bored and sends Hanyuu to help a girl (Rika) fight against her fate. Bernkastel is born due to all that despair. Rika/Bern win and try to live their lives, only for Lambdadelta to resurrect the same gameboard and sending Rika/Bern to the past via Satoko (though, why would Satoko gain the looper ability via Oyashiro and NOT Lambdadelta, unless Lambda was also born in the same gameboard as Bernkastel? But nah, since Oyashiro is referencing Ciconia...)

@@rjmax3311 Kind of. In Umineko, there are beings called the Witches of Theatergoing. Bernkastel talks about them when she makes a game for Featherine to reveal the Answers. We are some of them.
Hanyuu is Featherine's piece with memory damage. The Device you see around her head holds her personality and sense of self. If it takes damage, she changes form. If gets destroyed completely she becomes The Holy Spirit, God, the Creator, an Omnipotent Subsistence "Being"
I'd like to think that if Bernkastel ended up as forming from Rika, then maybe Satoko eventually ends up becoming Lambdadelta?
Lambdadelta is the Witch of Certainty. She praises hard workers and was said to have escaped her hell with "hard work". Satoko is mentioned to have worked her ass off to get into St. Lucia to be with Rika, which befits that. Lambda also has a psychotic attachment to Bernkastel and desire to keep her with her no matter what, just like Satoko here does for Rika.
I'd like to imagine this is a space between Higurashi and Umineko, that details the beginning of Bernkastel and Lambdadelta.

I thought this original timeline where they beat fate would end with satoko killing rika but it ends with featherine sending satoko straight back in time instead? Anyone else finds this weird? Does that mean the original timeline where they beat fate still exists cause no one was killed in it?
Might be part of the ending to end back at the shrine.
If that’s the case then only Satoko died and the others including Rika are still moving on with there lives.

I think she is mistaking Satoko as Lambda's piece. Im in shock and wondering as well, cause these Ciconia references just makes me feel like Lambda could appear.
Featherine's memory is notoriously bad. Its why she has the memory device, and Hanyuu was caused when the thing was damaged. It stands to reason that the damage could have jumbled things up.
I mean it could also be that Featherine’s relationship with time is rather... complicated. Assuming that Gou exists as a sort of backstory for Bern and Lambda the fact that Rika and Satoko went to St Lucia *After* the events of Rokkenjima, Bern and Lambda wouldn’t have existed, unless Bern, Lambda, and Featherine are operating on a completely non-linear form of time, were watching Bern and Lambda be created, while also being Witches that have existed for a thousand years.

Technically, Rika did offer help to Satoko, but it was not enough, plus Satoko, with her huge pride and inferiority issues, completely refuse it. Also, it seems like Satoko did not make any effort to make new friends, too. Now, if Rika try helping a bit more, and Satoko push her pride aside and accept help, then maybe things would be different.

I think I had read somewhere a while back that higanbana was the third installment of the series, but it had nothing to do with the first two. And since the title is sorttt of similar, it made sense. But yes, ciconia makes way more sense.
@@carmenmontoya5548 ciconia is the latest one in the series and there is currently only 1 phase out (1 episode like the other games) there are planned 4 phases so lets see. Highly recommend tho.
