Maybe after Featherine siding with Satoko in Higurashi gou, Bernkastel despise Featherine so much for abandoning her when she was Hanyuu in nekodamashi hen and turn against her.
@Omega Zero Are you saying she needs to reenact her family legend? If you don’t know one of the lore bits of Higurashi is that Hanyuu, when alive as an oni-like being who’se existence created the Syndrome, married a Furude priest and had a daughter. When her husband was murdered she went into an insane frenzy and began mindlessly eating the inhabitants of Onigafuchi, thus giving birth to the legend of the flesh-eating oni. Her daughter was thus forced to use the Furude’s sacred sword to permanently kill her, thus ending the massacre and creating the legend of the Watanagashi ritual. Basically, considering how very obvious Gou is being about a lot of the broad details, my guess is that we already know how it ends. Rika goes insane and becomes an “oni”, and the appointed ‘shrine maiden” kills her with the sword. For all the ‘trolling”, the entire sequel has been nothing short of predictable if you paid attention (if anything, people were being fooled because of how obvious the answer was).
