inspecting and repairing a 10 year old degraded macbook sends Louis into an introspective reflection on how much he's upgraded and grown in the last 10 years
The amount of damage you repaired on this, while Apple would just send the whole machine to landfill, should be your main testimony for right to repair. And yeah, this was surgery, you can find a video on tooth decay and it'll look the same, with the UV hardened compound and all.

Louis’ comment @10:48 about not moving to Texas didn’t age so well. @Louis Rossmann. That is not the dirtiest board I have ever seen. There are a couple I flat out refused to fix and clean...I draw the line at bodily fluids...let's just leave it at that. I did manage to repair a laptop board several years ago when the user's cat peed all over it. That was terrible. I had to send it through the wash 3 times to get the smell out. Had to replace pretty much everything else. The screen had it between the layers, the keyboard, the touch pad, the hard drive, the fan, the cooler, the battery. Fixed the mobo and power board...and had it all back together and working 100% for 350 bucks...but it was a 2000 laptop and nearly brand new...which is why at the time I loved Lenovo. Not sure of their practice these days but once they were easily top two for parts and serviceability.
I’m about to turn 34 in the past 14 years let’s say 16 years I feel like I’m the same person but I know I have grown what you said I totally agree I was wondering if anybody else felt the same way but at the same time it’s not something you bring up too often almost as if it’s taboo you got this expectation per age mark what are you should’ve been done! Also every time I see send your MacBook I think about getting screwed over but honestly if anything happened to mine I would do it in a heartbeat man!

6:20 I'm reminded of the Simon&Garfunkel line: "After changes upon changes we are more or less the same."
1:59 - "Oh my god, ew"
2:23 - "Ewww, ew, ahhg"/mic specs
8:50 - Board being held in purely by stickiness.
10:12 - Slurp?
18:27 - Fuck, he's getting a call from a Maryland lobbyist.
24:06 - It's Mario time
27:21 - If you're subbed and you are watching you are the 1%
35:54 - "Cmon!"
45:51 - Looks like hell
49:37 - "Gotta find some green shit"
51:54 - Louis telling himself to not look at the pen
57:05 - Fan spin
1:00:44 - That screen belongs in an art museum
1:01:48 - Question mark folder!
1:04:39 - If you are interested in repairing motherboards
1% gang checking in
10:44 *moves to texas anyways*
Best vid ever Louis. Keep the humour going!
I wish I’d found your channel a couple years ago, i used to have a ‘08 MacBook Pro with a kernel panic that I could not figure out. I bet you could have fixed it up nice!
I need an update on this particular MacBook. I wanna see the entire journey. Watching this MacBook be repaired is like watching an addict on the path to recovery.
Omg I nearly died of laughter when you opened it up. The reaction was priceless.
That immediate change of subject at 1:57 had me lying on the floor.
