Actual flight numbers tell a lot about a disc. These numbers vary from disc to disc within the same run or disc as well as how a used disc has wear, which affects those numbers. After that obvious factor, nose angle and hyzer/anhyzer angles are super important as that is how to utilize the knowledge of the flight numbers. Then as you said the speed you throw the disc is another factor in how those numbers react to the speed. I do think the RPMs or rotational speed a disc golfer puts on the disc is important as well. Obvious example is how a spin putter can kinda slice threw the air. The spinning of the disc and how evenly it spins, is essentially to maintaining a glide, and level flight path. Take all six shots and put zero or little rotation on them and change the speed as you did, You’ll see much different flight paths. So the snap or rotation would also change it as much or more than the speed in comparison to It’s flight numbers
I think of it like this. There are two force vectors operating on the disc, a lift vector and a gyroscopic vector. The aerodynamic vector changes strength and angle with velocity. The gyro vector loses strength as the disc spins down. At the designed disc speed, the vectors line up and the disc flies straight. Any force off axis to the gyro force creates a mysterious force at right angles, turning the disc. Throw the disc faster than the designed speed and it turns right, slower and it fades left (right back hand). I don't know how accurate this is. If it's true I would expect dome-like discs to have more turn. I'm not very good and only play with 3 discs so I don't know if that's so. Looking forward to what the next 2 guests have to say.
really curious how players throw a disc straight for a significant portion of the flight and then have it go understable at the end of the flight. Not just a hyzer flip that turns over, but more like flips up to flat, goes flat for a ways, then turns over and may or may not fade back. Specifically, I've seen Paul do it on some holes in tournaments, but I nobody has discussed how to do it. I suspect a combination of speed & spin.
OMG!🤯 I made some form enhancements and wondered why my usually straight flights were landing right suddenly (meaning, today...bad weather meant I couldn't hit the course for a week, here). I should have connected the dots! I've also been able to throw faster speed discs more accurately. I totally missed that there was a connection. I'm throwing FASTER! Sheesh. I wouldn't have figured this out for another at least another week or so. Thanks Joel! Dang! This is great stuff!!
i want to be able to release a brand new Destroyer on Hyzer so fast that it flips up flat turns over right and then slowly turns back up to flat and gradually to left.. i imagine this is how one gets 500ft drive on flat ground oh and likely 65mph+ throws lol
I was playing video games the other day and just couldn’t get in the groove of things kept loosing so I threw my keyboard why I’m not sure but things really got serious when keys went everywhere That’s when the shift hit the fan #101010
Chuck Norris wishes he had as much speed as Speed Spencer.
I think you might’ve missed your calling in acting lol More of this, please!
We don’t deserve Joel Freeman. Dude puts heart into his videos.
"that's a crush"
Nice change of pace from traditional instructional vids! Thanks Speed!!! Lol

LOL! That Spencer guy reminds me of Rex from Napoleon Dynamite. Distant relative, perhaps?

Domey discs have more glide. Look at a Lat64 River for an extreme example
Speed Spencer has spent a lot of time at Globo Gym, hasn’t he?
He is better than us and he knows it!! Lol
Love Speed's hand gestures. Who is that guy? He's extreme, maybe even dangerous. hahah
Loved every minute of this!

I lost it when SS spit😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂 that was hilarious but informative 👍👍
Can't wait for the next guests 🙂🙂
Speed has the strength of a grizzly, the reflexes of a puma, and the wisdom of a maaannn
Thank you Joel for being so entertaining 😄
I didn't actually see Speed Spencer in his intro. I just saw a red blur on the screen. Guy's TOO fast 🏃🏼🏃🏼💥
This video is golden thanks for the entertainment!!
Speed Spencer, I now know what the SS stands for on discs!
New king of content ... coming up.
JF is where it's at boyo.
The weather will affect a disc if it's cold out the disc will fly more over stable then when it's warm
Hilarious 😂 but also very good information for players to think about! I hope to play a round with Speed Spencer someday
These videos are so helpful man! Speeeeeeeed is the keeeeeeey!
I have the perfect person to tag in the IG post. He's just getting in to disc golf.
Speed's arm is great, but his running form is unlike anything I've ever seen!
Wow, talk about mind blown. Thanks!
this is awesome! 😂
Bro, you totally had me crackin up!!! This video was just awesome! Thanks man!!

How funny. I paused the video before the switch back from Spencer when i realized what I did. And then you explained it. HA! Thank you again!
The speed of the flick and the arm speed will directly influence the flight of the disc

Speed was killing me 😂😂😂
Good stuff Joel! Thank you sir!
Lovely! What an actor we miss in Joel. 😉
Great stuff!
How do you feel about being rated the second most disliked player behind Nikko Lancastro?
Joel’s voice is that of Fix It Felix (Wreck It Ralph)
Speed is my hero!! need more Speed!
What a legend
I saw Speed Spencer throw a putter 99mph one time in Dallas
I love your confidence for the need for speed. I just want to drink mountain dew and eat slim Jims
Good teacher
Speed Spencer looks familiar
No need for more Speed, you do fine on your own, great work.
I was playing video games the other day and just couldn’t get in the groove of things kept loosing so I threw my keyboard why I’m not sure but things really got serious when keys went everywhere
That’s when the shift hit the fan #101010
My grandson runs like that very funny
Seth Meyers + Dr. Disrespect = Speedy Spencer and that's just math.
Cool video brother
