- Our East Lothian series continues with a Story of a Golf Club episode from Gullane. Whilst the pronunciation of Gullane is a hotly contested debate, there is complete unanimity on the quality of the courses! With no founding architect cited by the club, we can only thank Mother Nature for the 3 wonderful links courses that sit front and centre of Gullane town and are all maintained to the same exacting standards.
Host to 2015 and 2018 Scottish Open, Gullane plays across the top of Gullane Hill and the views across the Firth of Forth are simply staggering, with Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s seat in the distance. The flip side of this, is that the course is open to the elements, and the winds frequently howl, even on a calm day!
Gullane comes without quirks, and despite its history which stretches all the way back to 1650, there are no awkward holes, or blind shots, instead it stands there today, able to test the world’s best players and is simply one fantastic, honest links course!
We hope you enjoy the film!

Thanks J, have a great week and thank you very much for a lovely evening, now safely home
After many years since playing at Gullane #1, I still remember the hills, the views, the rough, and the smooth sand in the bunkers. What a beautiful course.
Yeah it’s special isn’t it - all courses there are fabulous to be honest, great views and just wonderful rolling terrain! 👍
I was just there. This vlog brings it back. The elements, the vista in front of you, the next shot at your feet, the changing story of every hole. If you actually love golf in Scotland, and are not just ticking off the famous places so you can say you played there, you should be here...... and Cruden Bay.....
100% agree ⬆️
I love these videos, gets the goosebumps going, once all this is over I’m definitely going to appreciate playing golf a lot more!
I know how you feel! It feels like a distant memory and it wasn’t that long ago! 🤦♂️ hopefully next few weeks fly by! Glad you like the film - Gullane is a very special place - stunning views and just pure honest links golf
Well done, another great film
Thanks Malcolm 👍😎
More great work gents! Thanks again for the your efforts and contributions!
We love making them - glad you enjoyed! Another one next week 👍
Just love this place. Can't think of anywhere I'd rather spend a few days playing golf.
Perhaps the best one yet!
Thanks 🙏
Very well shot vlog. Three great courses, as you say, all equally well tended. Played all three, and they all offer a great challenge. Lots of people forget about no3.
Some great photography in there.
Thank you - as I said, hard to get a bad shot of Gullane. The land is simply incredible, and it’s just such a pure links experience. It’s exactly what golf is all about
So good, absolutely love these videos and the commentary!
Thanks Thomas - we absolutely love doing them! Don’t forget to check the podcast out too and some of the other resources on our website 👍👍👍
Just found this channel a couple of days ago. Seen a lot of the videos now, and it is just pure class. Fantastic storytelling and filming. Keep it up.
Thank you - glad you enjoy them! More to come in the next few weeks as well! 👍
Where do you play your golf?
Beautifully shot video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Brian - really glad you enjoyed. I think it’s hard to get a bad camera angle of Gullane though lol 😂
@@CookieJarGolf When I'm able to make my first trip to Scotland, Gullane #1 will be on the itinerary
You’ll need a month at least lol! 👍
Golfing heaven, fantastic courses everywhere.
Unbelievable big Fan of you Guys I could watch and listen to your vlogs all day well done ⛳️👌
Something spiritual about links Golf I'd play Links Golf permanently if I could but round my way the the fee is pricey and the Membership you need 2 letters from God 🙏
Thanks - love reading this! Glad you like them - we’ve been very luck to visit some epic places last year
Where abouts are you based?
Cookie Jar Golf Liverpool so I have Formby, West Lancs, Birkdale, and S/A all pretty top Lincs courses I'm currently a member of Woolton GC small course built 1901'ive just left due to drainage issues so on the look out for a new course, these vlogs you do are superb it sort of makes you feel part of the vlog which connects you to the course the story is about, I've been following no lay up as well who have been to these courses as well and funny thing is seeing how Malcom duck looks now from when they met him and still putting off the chairs hahaha but honestly these vlogs open up the path way for Golfing trips away.
Haha - yeah the beard is the big difference I think! Local celeb in East Lothian! Well you have a lot of good golf near you to choose from - as well as Ormskirk and Hesketh, and plenty more 👍
Beautiful bit of poetry there mills 👍
🪶 📜
Playing there in 5 weeks......can't wait!
Enjoy 👍👍
Class again .....👌
Thanks Ross 👊💥
Marvelous!
Thank you 🙏
Really looking forward to playing this after watching this ! Great video. Is the video a mix of all three courses ?
Glad you enjoyed! It’s an epic links playground
The film is just set on #1 - but the courses are similar in make up. 1&2 especially are similar
Played with a member during Open week and he had a great philosophy for a lifetime of golf at Gullane:
“When you are a child you start on No. 3 and then graduate to 2 and finally onto No. 1.”
“Then as you get older and No. 1 is too much, you go back to No. 2 and eventually back to No. 3.”
Love Gullane
Top work again mate 👍
