Thanks for hosting our ship for a port visit. In the 80s I served in the US Navy and visited Portsmouth 3 times, all great visits. The British people are brilliant and our closest friends, and I am grateful for the hospitality and generosity shown every time I've visited. Nice one Kev...back in the 60's was a barman in the Gaiety Lounge on South Parade Pier in Southsea. when a large USN Carrier and escorts arrived.....was always so impressed by just how smart and polite the American officers and sailors were! One asked me if we sold pretzels...could only supply him with potato crisps... Later on, nearby Southsea Common was heaving with yanks and ladies of the night doing late night exercises
I saw of video of the HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier entering New York harbor recently. Great to see these two allies welcoming each other's war ships for ports of call at their great, coastal cities.

I'm not saying they're useless, it's just that we don't know how invulnerable they are and you can be sure that potentially hostile powers will be devoting a lot of resources towards attempting to neutralise them.

I don’t like to see our Aircraft carriers in a vulnerable position. So while this is really cool, I would rather have them quietly go out to sea and conduct operations and be ready to fight on a moments notice. Like a submarine submerging, these strategic behemoths need to be protected and not shown off.

USS Gerald R Ford Super Carrier is the 7th largest air force in the world all by herself.
I believe the US Navy combined has the 2nd largest airforce after the US Air Force which is #1.

It looks lower to the water than an old WWII carrier (USS Hornet that's near me).
Keep in mind Hornet probably doesn’t have any fuel in her, so she’d be riding high in the water.
