Its such a melancholic story that is the basis for Secondhand Serenade. I know for sure the woman in this video is his wife/ex-wife, and this is one of the only "positive" and reassuring songs he's done off his first two successful albums. I don't know when they split up but definitely A Twist in My story is about their seperation...I know they have a child/children together I hope they're good to each other because he's put his soul into this and his music is so beautiful. This is one of my favorite songs.
They split up in 2008 when a he released his album a twist in my story. That whole album was dedicated to his ex wife. Heart breaking story really they even had two sons.

I was sweet 16 when I heard this from my EX-girlfriend's MP3 player. This was actually my song for her since she was more into Emo stuffs were I'm into Punk rock/skate punk type of music. Now 32, and still this song reminds me of her even though she's already married and we still remain friends on our social media accounts. Good times

I still remember bringing my then GF to his show in Manhattan after this song dropped and us waiting inline when i saw john just smoking a cig outside and i came up to him and asked for a pic with us...he was such a great guy who took the time to acknowledge his fans...and the concert was absolutely great
