I love when people think they are watching to react to Tarja’s voice, only to be blown away by Marco’s insanely powerful voice.
"He goes not high because he's not really a high voice"
Marco starts singing with a high voice 🤣🤣
hahaha though exactly the same, like "you have no idea"
Haha
Marco: hold my beer
Not exactly a good singer herself-she knows nothing about music
Marco is *SO* underrated. A monster voice!
You ain't lyin! Marco completely rocks.
Hell yeah, that last part I think he says All Rise, I want that for my message tone
@@Steve_P_B I think he says All right.
The metal vs the operatic voice... A good illustration of the story between the phantom and the singer. I always tough if was one of the best way to tell the story of this song.
Good point, look at Rob Hanford of Judas Priest who also sang in operas.
II see Nightwish I click. Tarja is unique. But Marco is pure Epicness !!! He is Badass period !
Everyone argues Floor vs Tarja, so boring. Marco is the unsung hero!
@@MichaelRCarlson TEAM MARCO FOR THE WIN 😎
I trust you lot have checked out Marco's original band, Tarot? Great stuff.
Marco is better than Anette! Hah you fools. Trollolol. kekekek
THIS COACH CANT EVEN MATCH TARJAS VOICE SORRY TARJA IS MAGJIC
I love this song so much, it has been one of the first Nightwish songs I have heard and Tarja with Marco sound so good together!
Tarja was sick with flu the day that concert was filmed, and still she nailed it. You should watch her singing live "Supremacy", her improvement since this concert is really out of this planet and she use more her chest voice than her operatic style.
I like the fact that not only you actually explain the technical stuff regarding their singing (mentioning pitches, etc), and it's not all "oh my god this is awesome", but you also make note of things regarding the music, or the piece in general. Nice.
"He goes not high because he's not really high voice"
Marco: Hold my bear
I know this is a very old video but I love your explanations and comments! Marko and Tarja are SUCH a duo!
One thing you might be interested to know is that Tarja actually has explained what you noticed about how she appears to be a mezzo-soprano but then hits notes that are considered really high for that range. She’s said that she IS a lyrical soprano, but that because Nightwish songs often required her to sing in more of a mezzo-soprano range, she ended up developing a stronger chest voice than a lyrical soprano would usually have.
Tarja and Marco and just a match made in heaven.
Actually at Kitee !
@@Mr.M1STER See Kitee on Google ! There are Even some on RUclips ! Isnt Heaven after You are Dead ?
Jawbreaking performance by Tarja!!!
This is BEST live on the Earth of all time - live voice qualify Marco and Tarja .
Re-watching this reaction video over a year later, and I have to say that you gave the best reaction to this particular performance. And nobody I have seen since you can touch you in terms of your reaction to this song.
I love how everyone is getting the legit vocal coaches to start doing Nightwish reactions. Great breakdown btw.
Big respect for singing and explaining everything she did!
I've watched this performance many times, and it always is entertaining, and amazing at the same time. Thank you for reacting to Nightwish.
Thank you very much for that amazing professional expertise 🙏❤
I love Tarja!!
Did You know that in Estonia / Tere means Hello ? In Your case The Greeting / would Be Tere Tere / I Never seen Anyone before Have Such a name !
@@GothikaMetalera666 Hola / Tere Tere - I You Would travel to Estonia / Nobody Would believe You / that Their Greeting IS so Popular in Mexico ! See Tallinn Videos on RUclips ! Hasta Lluego !
I like your reaction! Tarja was one of the reasons why I have started listening symphonic metal many many years ago.
Really recommend you Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Live Wacken 2013). It's with their current singer Floor Jansen. I don't know if you'll like it or not, but she uses different ways of singing and it's interesting at least.
I second this.
@@Xeranxies I "third" this ;) .
I started to listen to this genre because of Nightwish. And though, both Tarja y Floor are very different singers, their styles are fully compatible with the band. I love Tarja, it was frustrating for me to know she was not part of the band anymore, but Floor nails it.
I would sub if I seen this video ;) love vocal analysis of floors voice... after watching the full video. Ghost Love Score is amazing with floor, but Romanticide wacken 2013 give you both Marco and Floor. Its gritty and amazing. For their most epic song, Poet and the Pendulum is amazing as well. I hope you like the music, happy nighwishing lol.
The reason why floor sound different is do to her being a mix of dark & bright soprano.
Tarja is a Dark Soprano & Annette is a bright soprano.
Floor is a mix of both. Bright & Dark.....Hmmm !! Shall we say a wonderful mix :)
Tarja accent also plays greatly in her sound.
I'm not an expert, but that distortion in Marco's voice might be because of the nerve damage in one of his vocal cords. He went through a surgery in the 90's to remove a polyp from that vocal cord, and the doctor had to force his way to get to that polyp. He didn't get his voice back after the surgery, and that's when he learned about the nerve damage. He had to train very hard to get most of his voice register back, but for example his clean falsetto is gone forever. His vocal cords just don't "synch" anymore.
He later learned that the surgery was totally unneccessary and he could have learned to live with that polyp with some training.
@@ronniefarnsworth6465 The evidence don't accept it or deny it, therefor we can't make a statement about "finnish vikings", but off course, due to blood line, there is a possible way that Marco's blood could be viking. Just facts ;) (BTW, I'm lighten up, but I prefer facts instead of "especulations").
@@ronniefarnsworth6465 No, I did get it, only that is wrong. And also, yes, vikings even went to America, but that doesn't make America a viking country.
Anyway, I don't think it matters.
@@ronniefarnsworth6465 The conversation doesn't really. You have a point of view, base in the look, not the fact, and for me that doesn't matter. Besides, I don't see the point on keep "talking" about this.
No, it's just something you learn to do with your voixe, but sounds interesting for a plot if they mke a film about them
@@scoreanimation4271 Well, a few people have purely Viking, or purely the inhertiage of any ethnic group. Many Finns are blonds, even more have blue eyes - though Finns are on the average about 1/4 of the 'viking' background, or more like Scandinavian. around 70% of the Finnish bloodline is Finno-Ugrian: the bloodline of North-Eastern Europe until the Ural mnts. and a bit beyond for thousands of years. Then there's around 5% of soemthing else, like Russian (Eastern European) & Westren European.
The Western and Eastern European bloodlines are actually quite close genetic groups - the Scandinavians and the Finno-Ugric are different, as well as many Southern European nations. The Scandinavians have distant blood relatives in the Balkans. The Southern Europeans have at least the North African and Anatolian (already pre-Turkish) bloodlines, which appear somewhat elsewhere in Europe, but very little in Finland.
I like this kind of analysis! Please explain Floor Jansen singing ghost love score live wacken 2013
right!
I agree! That one really demonstrates Floor's abilities and provides an nice contrast to Tarja's version of Phantom. By the way, not trying to start a "who is better?" argument. I think they are both amazing, each in her own way!
@@GothicElf68 Not only that, lots of other songs demonstrate her abilities especially if you want to know about what she can do in the lower regions.
@@autohmae True that. But part of what I was considering by my statement was Floor's demonstrated versatility in GLS. She literally switches styles from one moment to the next, something I've heard vocal coaches say is incredibly difficult and usually not done in the same day, let alone in the space of a few seconds.
Up
I love that you talked about Marco, who in Nightwish Iive videos I feel doesn't get enough credit. He was right there with Tarja and hitting those notes AND playing bass. Enjoyed your analysis, look forward to more in the future!
joecrafted I love the contrast between the two. Marco was definitely an excellent addition to Nightwish. His voice brings so much to the songs. I’d love to see Nightwish perform this song live with Floor on the next tour.
@@wjrneo2 I know they've played it with Floor but there's no official recording of it yet and I wish there was
@@wesleyzimmerman94 ruclips.net/video/plCScjvDOJM/видео.html 😉
Tarja is a complet artist, she has a beautiful voice and passion! She can touch your soul with her voice
I think the best breakdown of this performance of this song I've ever heard. Obviously from extremely talented person. Beautifully done.
Freya, I love, love your analysis of one of my favorite songs "Phantom of the Opera". You have a gorgeous voice as well.
This is the reaction video that got me started on Nightwish. Thank you Freya Casey.
Erik Destler is a monster, having inflicted murder and terror upon the troupe. Marko's characterization perfectly conveys this personality.
I think you're the best reacting vocal coach I've seen yet. You explain everything with expertise and it's a pleasure to hear you sing as well.
Its honestly impressive how she was able to go up and down
This is Nightwish at its absolute best and also the coach has the most beautiful voice out of all coaches. Terkkuja From Finland
ei ole vaan floor on paljon monipuolisempi
It is very rare when the commentator himself really sings very well. You have excellent vocal skills and competent analysis of the composition. In my humble opinion, this version is the best of all that I have heard
I like how you actually break it down. Thank you I'll be subscribing.
This analysis is beautiful. I remember why I always enjoyed voice lessons. You're incredible.
You should react to Tarja singing Ave Maria.
I love how you appreciate the performance above the technique. There is more than a perfect technique. Though I never liked her wide vibrato (I think is due to overdarkening the voice) I really enjoy her performances.
You're gonna love Floor Jansen in After Forever band. She goes from a chest/mix voice (pop-rock-style) to a very well trained operatic soprano voice and that's interesting!
Floor is fantastic! I would love to see Freya reacting to her. :D
After Forever is defunct. They haven't existed for a long time.
Its not wide evrywhere. She actualy tightens it up alot for her pure operatic stuff. Lisen to this!
ruclips.net/video/tR5o4FrFxlo/видео.html
That is the by far the best reaction from a vocalcoach ive seen.
You explain it so well,so even a idiot like me understand☺️
Begging you to react to Nightwish with Floor Jansen,The Poet and the pendulum live at wembley.
Stay safe n well👍😊🇸🇪
I think they’ve started blocking that one.
they are wild together- tarjas piercing tones are deep
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013). With their current singer Floor. :)
Wow! I love this song forever. Your Analysis is profound and I listen to music way differently now.
This is by far the best commentary on this song I’ve seen. I have probably watched 30 different reactions to it because I love Nightwish (all 3 lovely singers) and I love the people
factor of reactions.
I loved how you offered the technical background to their singing rather than just saying it's great, like other coaches do
Glad to see you are doing analysis/reviews. Just watched your take on Tarja of Nightwish. There are two more singers that I would like to see you analyze, other than the popular Floor Jansen.
1. A band called Jinjer with lead singer Tatiana. The song/video is called Pisces (live) in the studio. Hold on to your chair for this one.
2. A band called Epica with lead singer Simeone Simon . The song is done in a studio with a choral and symphony arrangement.
Thank you!
The current singer of Nightwish Floor Jansen and Marco who you saw singing and playing the bass here did a rendition of Ave Maria for a Christmas concert back in 2016. There is a video of it on youtube. It's very nice!
It is nice? That is a bloody understatement :-)
Love your voice and play by play, great commentary.
I really enjoy this vid reaction , thank u
This version, that day, that convergence is not seen every day. tank you tarja and marco
i would like to point out she sang this entire gig with the flu
HOLY SHIT!
and a killer throat infection (against doctor's recommendations) to avoid disappointing her fans...some diva ha...
Great narrative !! You have great chops too !! Keep it up.
I'm just going to go ahead and throw this out there: I'm not into singing whatsoever, and I've never heard of you before, and the fact that I even stumbled upon and then proceeded to watch this video is nothing more than the result of random RUclips video-binging from the past 2 hours, just jumping from subject to subject. I'm not trying to come off as a weirdo by saying this, but the only reason that I'm leaving this comment is because I just wanted to let you know that despite how good you may or may not be in the 'singing community', in my opinion you have one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, no question. I'm being honest too, your voice is among one of the most angelic. I've always felt that female vocalists have superior singing capabilities in general, and hearing you sing was a fantastic example of just how incredible the sounds from human vocal chords can really be, in my opinion anyways. Just wanted to let you know lol
You should check out something with their new singer Floor Jansen... I would love to understand the way Floor sings
@Jack Skellington true
I agree. Tarja is great especially for the 'pure operatic' or 'classical' singing. Floor can do it, aslo, though maybe not quite as well. But what makes Floor stand out and truly shine is her versatility; her ability to switch literally instantaneously between styles. I'd recommend Ghost Love Score, live at Wacken for a reaction to Nightwish with Floor.
@@GothicElf68 is incredible how floor fans still believe in the fantasy that floor can do "all". NW is at their weakest period with her, why? Because of her sweetness. Every sound the same, there's no versatility. I've listening some European bands and there are many singers that sings so much better than her, and NW has become one of the bunch.
@@Moonlight_shine7 they are better now than ever before and you know it.
@@sm1echel I disagree. They are not, and there a lot of proofs. But if you prefer the monotonous sweet band they are now, it's your choice. I prefer something heavier and stronger as powerwolf 😉
Loved this!
This gives me goosebumps every time
You should check out Tarja's cover of Muse's "Supremacy" at Woodstock
Be prepared for the Metal Community to come at u with more suggestions!!! Im not a singer but I love watching these Vocal Coach videos on their take on Metal Singers its great! Do more NightWish too!

Great, technical and informative review. You've got my sub.
Great analysis, learned a lot! Would love to see more reaction videos from you :)
His hair is beautiful ☺
I really appreciate this video of yours. Really nice one and different from all your other videos.
Thank you so much, what a informative and great video, you not only see and hear the singers, you also focus on the music and the drums. Loved this. Check out more Nightwish, Floors Ghost Love Score in Buenos Aires 2012 would be nice to see.
Wow. This was so different to compare other reaction videos. Thanks so much!
I like your analysis! not only th vocals but also the instrumental part.. :D cool video!
This was great 👍🏻 thanks!!
Goodness, you are beautiful. I also love the detailed analysis!
C MINOR, not Major. (The original was in D minor). The E-flat in the chord is the give-away.
She's a scam, so who cares... Apparently everyone can be a vocal coach these days.
Listening to an american pronouncing the name of the singer correctly makes me restore my faith in humanity. Thank you.
First, it is really nice performance.
Then, Freya you look so pretty today more than ever.

really amazing performance. Please check Nightwish - Ghost love score (with Floor)
I love your reacting videos!
Ím in love with your reaction because it's a master class at the same time. Tarja has a huge classical technique you should check her classical music performances! And solo metal band
I really like your reaction video! Thanks.
tarja was sick in this concert, cold and something else
Would love to see you react to Nightwish-Ghost Love Score-Live At Wacken 2013 with Floor Jansen.
Thank you for your professional critique. There are many opinions of "vocal coach reacts to xxxxx" between Tarja an Floor, and it seems like a war between two rival football teams.
I first heard Nightwish on a business trip to Finland in the late 90s. I thought it was weird to hear opera vocals mixed with power metal ( I'm a fan of power, thrash, doom, classic), but strangely alluring.
I forgot about them until I ran across a Wishmaster CD and picked it up. Been a fan ever since.
You should check out their early live TV appearance with "Gethsemane" and "Sacrament of the Wilderness"
ich liebe dich Freya 😊 Your Videos are Amazing keep up the Good work 👍😊
You have incredible voice.
Thank you so much for this!! You explain everything so detailed and make it easy to understand, which is great!!
I second everyone requesting Nightwish's Ghost Love Score (live at Wacken 2013) but I'd also love to see your reactions on their "The Greatest Show On Earth" (live at Tampere) and/or "The Poet and the Pendulum" (live at Wembley Arena 2016)! Floor has such a huge diversity in the styles she can sing, most of them show in TGSOE. That's why seeing both TGSOE and TPatP would be absolutely amazing!!! (The only reason for "and/OR" is in case TGSOE is too long for you to make this kind of video ;D)
Thank you Freya. Wish you did more "how to sing that song" videos for phantom songs.
Really great explanation and critics, i love it really, you made a very very good react.
Great reaction Freya! You clearly have talent. This was Tarja's last performance and last song in Nightwish before she got fired right after the show, so that makes it extra special. Please react to their current singer Floor Jansen, singing Ghost Love Score, live at Wacken or Buenos Aires. In the latter she had been only couple of months in the band.
Always a bit weird: "This was probably the best show we ever did and also your fired."
But it could not be helped.
Plus: Tarja was ill on that day and didn't know, if she would make it through the concert.
@@nebucamv5524 Oh I didn't know that!
great reaction and very informative!
you are so fun to watch
Actually Tarja is a lyric soprano with a 3 octave voice range so that last note really isn't out of her range. :)
Freya.... you have a lovely voice.
Ok so I want to improve my singing voice very much and I have been subscribing to almost every vocal coach I have seen reacting to NIghtwish lately bc I really enjoy everyone's different critiques. So totally subbed and love that you have tons of videos on techniques and ways to better our voices. I am glad to that you are getting into reacting to certain singers bc I feel like these type of videos have been helping me at least to really understand and appreciate what the singers I vocally look up to do with their voices and how they do it. So please like others have said since you have opened the Nightwish can of worms watch Floor Jansen kill it in Ghost Love Story Live at Wacken 2013. Her perfornance gives me chills and tears to my eyes it's just near perfection!!
Havnt seen any of your other videoes, but this is great content. Good job.
Nie poswieciliscie się i nie daliscie czadu.. To po co te dupoty??
your voice is so amazing, good lady
Cry for the moon by Epica or Ghost love score by Nightwish!!
So, while Tarja and Marco are both spectacular singers, what really impressed me with this video was the fact that you can ALSO sing like that. it gives me a reason to listen and respect your input far more then others. you have an awesome voice!!
You can check Ghost love score live from buenos Aires Argentina with Floor Jansen, current singer
Buenos Aires had a better crowd energy. But Floor's vocal technique was far superior at Wacken.
So Wacken is a better one for a vocal coach to react to.
Beautiful review!!!!!!
Vc é tão linda. Sou brasileira e te acompanho tem muito tempo. As vezes não entendo o que vc fala, mas replico seus exemplos rsrs
You should be the next singer in nightwish 😊😊
Many are going to suggest the Wacken 2013 version of Ghost Love Score to hear Floor Jansen's voice. I would suggest checking out The Poet and the Pendulum live from Wembley 2016.
That is a great one, also.
Finally, a reaction video from u 😊
I'd love to see a whole movie of Phantom of the Opera sung in metal
Your voice is really great too.
Also, just as everyone says. check out Noghtwish - Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013) with their current singer Floor Jansen. Simply breathtaking.
