I'm pretty confident it'll be relatively straightforward to spawn things in with this system, getting a basic mod working and making a tutorial for it are going to be high on my list after the release :)
Very nice to see the return of the Chomper and Capactron. I like that KEEN have allowed several RUclipsrs to make videos about different parts of this update rather than just one. I could easily quote Adam Savage during this video: "I'm going to need a grin-ectomy". Grinning ear to ear.
One of my goals after release is to see if I can make a console friendly alternative for scrapyard, It wouldn't have quite as much stuff, but maybe I can make something that is still fun :)
@@Splitsieim assuming you got some special knowledge and im assuming the encounters are mod able also thats gonna be amazing even if it is dedicated server only since thats the only way to ise server side scripts on console and theres hope the update revievs console player base since it got devastated by the signal update not being playable online for 2 weeks

Example:- (Splitsie, make a crane and caustiosly place items onto the back of a truck, Capac, make a dozer a ramp and push the lot on the back of the truck) When your fed up of hearing politics loose yourself with these two.
Pause at the final screen, and hide the cards, and there's a whole bunch of new blocks! New cockpit, thruster variants, and all sorts of new goodies. Definitely looking forward to this update!

I do love the fact that the NPC's are all getting overhauled with newer weapons such as autocannons and artillery cannons, possibly also the railguns too so they are really going to be "Endgame" so no more super easy space pirates anymore they now match our arsenal of weapons. Also that new Drone design looked sick!.
Ever since planets became a think in SE I've been constantly dreaming about encounters like these to actually become official for the game, so glad they are finally officially implementing them to the game.
Yup, I made a video at the end of 2017 where I talked about how (what became) MES was adding these and that it would be awesome to get it in the base game. So glad it's finally here in any form :)
Agreed, I know some people get upset when devs take ideas from popular mods, but isn't that what we want them to do? Get the best mods available to everyone :)

That doesn't claim the NPC, it just makes its PCU cost your own, this allows it to remain in the world and not get deleted, you still have to capture the whole grid as you always did

My brain has been so thoroughly conditioned that when Capac did his “catch you next time everybody!” Salute, i just _had_ to add a TFE “Byeehhh..” myself.
This is reminding me of one of the modular encounter mods that added wrecks and structures on the earthlike planet. In the end I turned it off as it felt like cheating since it was a fast source of components that you couldn't get on the earthlike planet but had to travel off the planet to get. I have started the scrapyard survival mod. That involves a new way of problem solving.
i'm worried about going to fast - smacks into rock. how many versions of each type of spawn are there? They remind me a bit of the ones we saw on purgatory...
What would be cool is if they actually started you off in a small base instead of a drop pod. Just like a small hut with a survival kit and probably a basic assembler, a battery, and a solar panel or wind turbine.
i hope they asked Splitsie for tips and ideas since he basically built and play tested this idea ages ago and also tips for tools players or modders could use
as a Console player this is amazing because unless you have a dedicated Server you can't really have random encounters like these due to not being able to use scripts on single player and none PC hosted servers
Yup, it's nice to see everyone being able to play with this sort of stuff and hopefully being able to play with new mods that take advantage of these systems
I hope its a start of them adding more pois, roaming drones and hopefully factions that do wonder set up bases and attack youe bases when detected in the base game and not having to rely too heavily on mods for something to interact with and explore

Splitsie, did you see that you can claim NPC grids now through the grid's inventory menu.
That doesn't claim the NPC, it just makes its PCU cost your own, this allows it to remain in the world and not get deleted, you still have to capture the whole grid as you always did
