You probably don't know that Napoleon once sent Polish troops to suppress an uprising against the French in Haiti. When the Poles saw that the Haitians were fighting for independence, they joined their side and defeated the French troops. At that time, the independent Polish state no longer existed, partitioned by its neighbours a few decades before.

Yes, our history was a constant fight for independence. Being situated between 2 powerful countries (Russia and Germany) and between "western" and "eastern" world meant that there was always some war conflict going through Poland. There were many moments in our history when more powerful countries would decide our future among themselves and divide our land taking parts of it, trying to erase Poland from the map. (e.g. right after the war with Hitler was over the " liberating" Russian army came in, but in a way never left because since then we were under Soviet influence till 1989.) But Poland always rose from the ashes.🙂 🇵🇱 Thank you guys for this video, all the best to you and your channel! 🌸

You recognised correctly: The Teutonic Knights were invited by Polish king to help with pagans in the north but decided to stay after mission was completed. They were kicked out in XV c.; and secondly yes Poland was erased from the maps as a state for 123years (1795-1918) due to partitions by Austria, Prussia and Russia.

No. When Poland was under occupation, Napoleon told them that if they joined him, he would put Poland on the map again. So we did. But he took some of the Polish soldiers with French to fight uprising of slaves in Haiti. Because Polish people were fighting for independence themselves they didn't like it at all.
