The truth is it's not America that's the issue, here, it's English. English is the drug addicted homeless man that jumps other languages in dark alleys, goes through their pockets for spare vocabulary, and then butchers the pronunciation beyond all recognition (kinda like Japanese in that way lol). Kansas and Arkansas are actually named in honor of two completely different tribes and in entirely different native languages but to the French explorers who wrote all this down, the pronunciations were similar and they all just wrote down the closest approximation to the names in their journals in French. (Kansa and Akansa, respectively) Fast forward about 200 years and the spelling has transformed quite a bit, becoming Kansas and Arkansas and the English speakers that eventually settled in Kansas took one look at the spelling and decided to pronounce it the way they would a typical English word and pronounced the 's' on the end. Arkansas, meanwhile, didn't settle on a pronunciation so quickly. Some parts pronounced it with the English pronunciation of "Ar-Kansas" and some areas keeping to the more French pronunciation with the silent 's' at the end. It wasn't until 1881 that the state officially decided on the more French pronunciation to honor those original French explorers. However, English speakers being English speakers, the more traditional French pronunciation was butchered by the native English speakers who aren't used to long vowels at the end of words, causing the "sas" at the end to be pronounced more like "saw".

@Lord Voldemort you mean the typical 2012 look? well thats not original and how is it original when multiple youtubers has typed shit and made it showe up on de fucken video thats not original
Fun fact: it is pronounced Arkansaw because of the people arguing over the pronunciation and spelling of it when in 1881, the states general assembly was able to close the argument by having the spelling of the state being A R K A N S A S, but pronounce it “Arkansaw” to stop the people from arguing so much. Now you know.
Can we also address about the fact that Washington dc is in like the very east side of the U.S. but then Washington is like all the way to the northwest

Can you please explain the question to me?
