When we got our kitchen redone I seriously considered the AGA. The learning curve on how to use it is steep but so worthwhile, especially in winter since it does double duty as a heater. But this extra heat in the summer and the high cost of running the AGA are what convinced us to go with induction instead. It’s so nice to see this oven in action, though, and imagine how I would have used it. Thanks for the great recipe ideas.

Hi, I’m in England and I have an Aga. I noticed when you’re cooking your eggs and grilled sandwiches, you use cast iron pans. You don’t need pans. Aga (and Amazon) sell a product called Bake-O-Glide which is a non stick mat that perfectly fits your simmering ring. You can cook your eggs and grilled sandwiches directly onto this. Crack an egg on it, close the lid and within a minute or two you have a perfectly cooked egg without using any fat, they’re delicious. You can cook toast and grilled sandwiches the same way plus lots of other things like pancakes, etc. I’ve had my Bake-O-Glide for eleven years and it’s still going strong.
Thanks for sharing!! We’ve heard this before but haven’t gone for it yet! The person we bought it from always said she used pans like normal so that’s what we’ve done too 🙃.
Late to this and came to the comments because I was confused why she was not using her Glide! Also, you can use the Aga for sterilizing your canning jars!

I'm a grandma and I love your videos! I never heard of the AGA cooker before until I seen yours! I love eating pretty similar to you. I am going to try that Dulche de Leche! Blessings on your sweet family!
I have had a aga for years, people get very stressed about using them including my husband but they are so easy. You are missing a few tricks with your use of the aga. You have worked out that you loose heat if you have the tops open too long. You can steam your veggies in the aga too in the simmer oven, so you don’t need to have the top open for long. If you can get yourself a Aga book or look at some tutorials online I think it would help you. Love how your life is round the Aga, I love mine. ❤
My husband is English. I always wanted an AGA and found one on Facebook marketplace. I now own it, but have not yet used it. It is a 6 burner gas top and 4 oven electric range. Can't wait to get it installed. It is the same color as yours.
My children growing up ate alot of egg custard which left egg whites in plenty. Meringues are an excellent treat and make nice gifts.Seems like the AGA would do excellent for these.
How is the oven powered? Just found y'all today and I have been watching all morning. I'm a grandma and my family live on a sixth generation farm. We live a similar lifestyle but not as in depth as you, however we are working towards a more self substanible future. I do the garden and preservation and a ton of everyday cooking. I also home school my grandson. I live across the road from my son and his family and I usually prepare breakfast and lunch for him and my grandchildren I also prepare dinner several times a week. First time seeing an oven like yours and I am amazed. Can't believe I have never heard of it before you are very lucky. What a beautiful family and life you have!!!
Thank you!! A 6th generation farm with that generational life - you are living our dream too!! Our oven runs on gas. I'm still in awe that we were actually able to find it at for such a bargain and make it happen. Thanks so much for your encouragement! It's such a beautiful life!
They are the best!! Check used sites like fb marketplace, you never know!! When I told my husband that an aga was my dream oven I also said “this is likely impossible but…” And here we are!
I so support you homeschooling your children, and others who are doing the same! It has to be so darn difficult with multiple littles/a large, young family...while making homemade meals. I hope you have family or friends who give you some Needed breaks to get away for some time to yourself.
My Aga hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m watching a lot of Aga cooking content. With the cooking plates on top losing heat, I see consistently that those with older models like yours try to cook everything they can on the floor of the ovens instead of on the top wherever possible. Apparently the floor of your roasting oven can behave just like a cooktop. But that’s not firsthand experience from me, so I could be wrong. Wonderful video, thank you xx
You are amazing mom/wife. I just love your cooking style and the fact that you give so much nutrition to your family. So inspiring! God bless your work! It must be exhausting cooking so much but is so rewarding and you make it look so easy and enjoyable. You also so clean and so organized. I am cooking also everything from scratch but I’m a messy. 😅my kitchen is very small I don’t have a dishwasher as well and if I have dishes to dry I don’t have space on the counter to cook. Luckily I have small family just my husband and my daughter 2y old. Keep up the great work and if you share your cold remedies for kids that will be so helpful. Thank you 🙏
I figured out how to do sourdough, with no sourdough!! Just add kefir to the flour. It will ferment the flour!! I combine flour, kefir and salt (syrup optional). I make everything with it.
My husband is Scottish, and they are still used in Scotland. I'm unsure whether I want one, or a Pioneer Princess. We've been sitting on it for 3 years now. The heat would be a boon in the winter months, but summer gets really warm here in nH.
Both good options! The summer is definitely not the shining season for the AGA but we've found it bearable where we are in the midwest. We also often keep the temp down in the summer which helps.
WOW! WOW! WOW!!! I only came across your channel today, (while searching for homemade snacks) I don’t know where I’ve been, it’s such a pleasure watching your Family and lifestyle, home cooking, and estate living I’ve already spent hours watching a few episodes and I know I’m going to go through them all I grew up on an Estate and big farm in Northern Quebec, Canada to a big family and we had the exact same lifestyle but then I went off to college in Taxes and ended up falling in love with this lovely Palestinian girl and we’ve been married for forty years now and we are blest with a big family too all grown up and out but she being a city girl never enjoyed an off grid life she don’t understand it even when I take her up in the country she only wants to return to the city and while we live in the suburbs it’s way not the real life but for this strong handed manipulating girl (in a good sense) is worth giving up a thousand lives but I do miss it much and watching you is such a nostalgia such a deep emotional thing please keep it up it’s so refreshing. Thanks a trillion
One thing I always had on hand in my freezer when the children where home was healthy sweet breads. I made mine with unsweetened apple sauce so my hyper child didn't get those sugar rushes. I always got my nuts from local growers and back then had my own berries.
I love this!! I'm finding it hard to get around to bake as much as I have in the past but when I get the chance I love to stock up with muffins and things in the freezer. That's awesome that you had access to so much locally!
I've just found your channel. I also had 4 under 7. Every time I see you bend over to search in your fridge I want to suggest a larger, bottom freezer refrigerator. It will change your life.
I had no idea dulce the leche is so simple to make. I’m going to try it. Thanks for the idea. I have two milk cows and always looking for ways to use up milk.
Didn't know that dulce de leche is known in the States. I know it from my husband who is from Argentina. I only made it one time my self, as well as my husband tried it himself. The result wasn't so good, but my husband's was better. 😊 He orders it from time to time at an online trader in Germany who sells food from Argentina and Brazil. For me that one is too sweet. 😅
I don't know how common it is here but it's so good! Definitely very sweet I think making regular caramel is the norm but we love it! Thanks for watching!
I would love to have an AGA, but unfortunately, the radiant heat would be a problem with southern summers.😢 I do love the rhythm of AGA cooking, though! ❤
My dream would be to have an AGA oven like this ❤ im going to stay positive, and begin the hunt for my own super deal! And i am definitely going to try the eggnog for breakfast idea, the kids and i love it too! So so good for you when you make your recipe also!
Awesome video. Thankyou for sharing so much information about your Aga. We have been trying to find one for the last several years now. Does your dutch oven fit inside the Aga with its lid on?
I enjoyed your video and the information you gave. I had never heard of an AGA stove. I do have one off topic question... What did you use to finish your wood countertops? I recently moved into an old cabin that had unfinished real wood countertops. I like the looks of yours and wondered how you accomplished that. Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your videos
It's Tung oil and has been such a game changer for our butcher block counters! We actually have a whole video on this. ruclips.net/video/2CZ7OiobUQY/видео.html
I just found you yesterday and I love your channel. I never heard of the AGA until yesterday watching your videos. Does the AGA make your house hot running all of the time?
So what do you do with the chicken feet? HINT: They're seriously good simmered in Sesame oil, with Teriyaki sauce and a bit of grated ginger and Sesame seeds. Then just suck the meat off the bones until you're full!
Hi! Ours is actually gas. You can use a steel wool or something pretty abrasive to clean the heating plates. The enameled part we just out a towel. It’s not bad but does require regular cleaning like any other oven. Hope this helps!
I’m loving watching your episodes. I do a lot of the things that you do in the kitchen but with conventional appliances. My kids are grown and grandkids are getting older so we are only feeding the two of us. I enjoy seeing your family on here and at church on Sundays.
Hi. Really like your videos. I was wondering how your AGA is powered? Electricity/calls gas/oil/wood? Unfortunately I haven't one but I have used one and I really do like them.
If you ever reno your kitchen I respectfully suggest you move your fridge away from your Aga. It must be very hard on your fridge that it is hot 24/7. I buy everyth8ng cheap on Kijiji and FB market place and i renoed my whole house including all 3 deep freezes, 3 frodges, double oven and all appliances, cabinets and countertops. You are smart to get aga used and house foreclosed. I do the same -pinch a cent in half. Pat on your back. Can you feel it? 🎉❤❤❤🎉😂🎉😂
We had an aga the very same as that for years and I still miss it. I wonder why you put your refrigerator beside it though. It’s always hot so it’s not going to help your refrigerator . It will have to work extra hard to stay cold. Just wondering g? But love the AGA cooker .
Hi! Yes, having our fridge next to our aga is definitely not ideal. We tried to figure out a different configuration for our kitchen but this was our best layout option (in spite of the fridge being by the aga). Thanks for watching!
Good questions! Maybe a few degrees at most? We have AC and keep it set at 78 degrees so it rarely needs to run much unless it's really hot outside. It probably costs an extra 10-15 dollars per month on our gas bill.
Thanks for the information and inspiration. Having 4 ovens sounds great. One question, do you ever need more than two “eyes” on your stove. I often find I’m using three and on special occasions I’m using all four of mine at the same time.
This is a good question and something I was concerned about before we got it too. It hasn't been an issue! The burners are quite large so there has been times when I have 2 smaller saucepans on one burner at the same time. Otherwise, I usually only have things on the plates on top for a short time and then to keep warm ill transfer it to the slow cooking or warming oven. Hope that helps answer your question!
Loved this video! I want an oven like this but I’m concerned it would warm up the house too much in the summer. We are in Arkansas and it get soooo hot here
It's definitely not for everyone. A lot of people will turn it down or off in the summer if it's too much. Where we are in the midwest, it's been very bearable.

One of my fondest memories is when mom would let me lick the spoons after helping her ❤ I’m Japanese, but was born in Brazil. We Brazilians love to put doce de leite (dulce de leche in Portuguese) in everything! In the middle of cakes, as the filling for donuts and so on! It is very sweet though.
It really hasn't been as bad as we thought it could be. It increases our gas bill maybe $10-15/mo but in the winter our heater runs so much less so it's somewhat offset then. Thanks for watching!
It's really not bad. Our gas bill is maybe $10-$15 higher each month. But it also cuts our heating costs down as our heat rarely runs unless it gets below freezing. Thanks for watching!
Ours runs on gas. We have a few dedicated videos on them that answer lots of the basic questions if you are interested in learning more! They definitely aren’t for everyone but we love ours! Thanks for watching!
This. I almost fell when I saw the price of new ones- I had no idea such an expensive stove existed. I thought ones that were over $10k were dreamy but a ton of money. Then I looked at used ones and they are more reasonable. Saw some for like 7-8 k which is still a lot but more easily attainable
Where we are in the midwest, it's bearable. We will often turn it down if we aren't doing major cooking and that helps a lot. We do have an oven in our basement in case we ever wanted to turn it off completely (a lot of people do this) but we haven't found the need to do that yet. Hope this helps!
Venting with windows and fans, excellent heat dissipation. planning helps too, imagine nice skylight for natural lighting and ventilation. In the day we had a screened porch for canning cooking in summer (still very hot in humid south). I use a Burns Milwaukee Solar Oven with great summer cooking success. This is becoming a favorite channel. Reminds me of Jane Shuttleworth - Mother Earth News - In Action!
I wouldn't say unbelievably hot. In the winter and cooler spring and fall months, it's lovely and really keeps are heat from running much at all. It can get warm in the summer but most days we turn it down so it's not as hot but still usable and it's really not bad at all. We do have air conditioning as well. Thanks for watching!
How did you afford your stove? I have shopped for them and can’t find one for less than $30,000. Edited to add: ah….you got incredibly lucky. That makes more sense😊I have wanted on for over a decade….one day if I become a millionaire somehow.
When I told my husband that I wanted one, I prefaced it with "this is completely impossible and will never happen but..." and amazingly here we are. I'd definitely look used because you never know! :)
When we got our kitchen redone I seriously considered the AGA. The learning curve on how to use it is steep but so worthwhile, especially in winter since it does double duty as a heater. But this extra heat in the summer and the high cost of running the AGA are what convinced us to go with induction instead. There’s definitely a lot to consider with them and can understand going a different route. Thanks so much for watching!
Do you really cook meals that good everyday?

What a wonderful way of life. I hope you inspire many young families. I feel guilty recalling all the processed junk I fed my kids growing up.
Thank you! We ate a ton of junk growing up too. Always learning! ❤️
I still love how your children get so happy with your eggnog 😀
Eggnog days are always good days at our house :) Thanks for watching!

Just add kefir to the flour. It will ferment the flour!! I combine flour, kefir and salt (syrup optional). I make everything with it.

Oooh! Those look like great options too!
I would love to have an AGA, but unfortunately, the radiant heat would be a problem with southern summers.😢 I do love the rhythm of AGA cooking, though! ❤
They definitely aren't for every climate! Thanks so much for watching. It is such a nice rhythm if you cook often.
Dinner Looks delicious !
Thank you! ☺️
Love the aga stove!!

I hope you find your own deal of a lifetime!! Thanks so much for watching and the encouragement!
having an AGA cooker in the south would be best in a Summer Kitchen... AC runs most part of 6 to 9 months a year
Definitely better in some climates than others! Thanks for watching!
happy holidays y'all
You too!! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video. Thankyou for sharing so much information about your Aga. We have been trying to find one for the last several years now. Does your dutch oven fit inside the Aga with its lid on?
Yes! We have a very large dutch oven and it fits no problem! I hope you find one!
The Aga is a British institution, albeit we're putting in a solid fuel (wood) Rayburn, the Aga's little brother. Wonderful
Good video. Excellent demonstration of the stove. I would definitely get an AGA. Do you often cook with the plate covers down?
Thank you! 😊 If you want to use the stove top plates, you’d have to open them but we often use the oven with them down.
I enjoyed your video and the information you gave. I had never heard of an AGA stove. I do have one off topic question... What did you use to finish your wood countertops? Curious about the AGA cooker. Is it electric or gas? Being on all the time, how does that affect your utility bill? Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
It's gas! It surprisingly really hasn't increased our bills too much. Maybe $10-15/month.
The question I have about using chicken feet for broth is, how does one get them clean before cooking?
They have a skin on top. That comes off with hot water. I eat the chicken feet. I actually love them so after the both I enjoy eating them.
Everything is thoroughly rinsed before cooking but that's all we do!
So what do you do with the chicken feet?
HINT: They're seriously good simmered in Sesame oil, with Teriyaki sauce and a bit of grated ginger and Sesame seeds.
Then just suck the meat off the bones until you're full!
Sounds delicious!
Great video
Thank you!
Loved this video. Is your AGA electric or wood? Do you have pros and cons on any of the heating sources? Are they hard to clean?
Aw! Thanks for watching and leaving this comment! It always feels so funny to me when real life and RUclips merge 🙃.
Please tell me more about your stove! So curious, I have never heard of that type of stove, would love one
It’s an aga! We found it used on Facebook marketplace. We have a few other videos dedicated to it if you are interested in learning more.
Hi. Really like your videos. I was wondering how your AGA is powered? Electricity/calls gas/oil/wood? Unfortunately I haven't one but I have used one and I really do like them.
Thank you!! Ours is gas!
Love your videos! Where are your little stainless steel cups, covers, and straws from?
Thank you!! I believe the stainless steel cups were from amazon and the silicone straws came from a lid/straw set called siliskin I believe.
Love that range! What kind of fuel does the AGA use
Ours runs on gas, which is most common but you can get converters for other fuel sources I believe.
Ballerina Farm has an Aga. ❤ love your video
Thank you!
How long does the granola last in the jars?
It will last for at least a month just fine in the pantry, ours doesn't usually make it any longer than that. :)
How much does it increase the house temperature in the summertime? What is the cost of supplying it with gas if it is on the entire time?
Good questions! Maybe a few degrees at most? We have AC and keep it set at 78 degrees so it rarely needs to run much unless it's really hot outside. It probably costs an extra 10-15 dollars per month on our gas bill.
Thanks for the information and inspiration. Having 4 ovens sounds great. One question, do you ever need more than two “eyes” on your stove. I often find I’m using three and on special occasions I’m using all four of mine at the same time.
I was wondering the same thing
How does someone clean it? The compartments that is?

What do you fuel your Aga with?
It's gas. :)
I notice you don’t have upper cupboards. Where do you store your dishes and glassware?
We don't! It's just how it worked out when we renovated our kitchen. Some of our bigger lower cabinets store our dishes and glassware.
Do you process the broth or just keep it in the fridge and use it up.
Greetings from North Bay Ontario.
Hi! We just keep it and use it up within the week!
Thank you.
One of my fondest memories is when mom would let me lick the spoons after helping her ❤
I’m Japanese, but was born in Brazil. We Brazilians love to put doce de leite (dulce de leche in Portuguese) in everything! In the middle of cakes, as the filling for donuts and so on! It is very sweet though.
Such a sweet memory! I bet that is delicious! Our kids would love that. I try to keep our dulce de leche consumption to a minimum but it is so good!
What is the red pot you use? You made rice in it. Is the top a pan also? 😊
It’s a le creuset that I got as a Christmas gift and yes, it’s a great little saucepan and the lid is also a little fry pan! Thanks for watching!
So if the aga is on all the time does it run up a big electricity/gas bill
It really hasn't been as bad as we thought it could be. It increases our gas bill maybe $10-15/mo but in the winter our heater runs so much less so it's somewhat offset then. Thanks for watching!
Are Aga's expensive to run? Has monthly utilitie bill increased?
We were very surprised at how minimally our bill went up. Maybe $10-15/month.
❤
Does the AGA stove work from wood?
Ours is gas!
We asian loves chicken feet...ummmm yum
So good!!
Do u can on your ada?? Its pretty sweet.😮
Yes!! It works great for canning!
Does the broth go in the fridge or can it be canned?
We put it in the fridge and use it within the week. You could pressure can it also.
scalloped potatoes?
What fuel does the AGA use in the US?
Ours runs on gas. That's the most common here.
If the AGA is "always on" as you say and all compartments are always at their designated temperature, you must have a astronomical energy bill????
It's really not bad. Our gas bill is maybe $10-$15 higher each month. But it also cuts our heating costs down as our heat rarely runs unless it gets below freezing. Thanks for watching!
Is the aga being on all the time using propane or electricity I don’t know anything about them
Ours runs on gas. We have a few dedicated videos on them that answer lots of the basic questions if you are interested in learning more! They definitely aren’t for everyone but we love ours! Thanks for watching!
Where did you get that stool that the kids are standing on?
Oh, good question! We got it as a gift when are oldest was a toddler. It says “little partners” on it. I’m guessing from Amazon.
I thought an aga looked interesting. $35000!!! So, i will just envy yours....
Check used - they are out there for much less!
Celsius ?
Fahrenheit. Thanks for watching!
No waste pineapple skin and rice drink.
Doesn’t it get awfully hot in your kitchen in the summer?
It hasn't been as bad as I thought it might be! We do have AC and try to keep the oven turned down if it's going to be really warm out.
I’ve been interested in the AGA for awhile but I wonder how it is on the hot summer months.
I came to the comments to ask the same thing
I'd love an AGA cooker, but, it costs more than my truck 🤷♀️
It’s wild how expensive they are new! I’m still shocked by the crazy deal we found on ours. Thanks for watching!
Doesn’t the AGA heat your kitchen and make it unbelievably hot? I love the way they look though.
Güzel video için teşekkürler efendim RUclips kanalımdan selamlar
You could benifit😢 from some knife skills
Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
A $33,000 stove.
Gimme a break. 🙄
We found an amazing deal for a used one locally :)
Dosent your husband have a job and work.????
Yep! Our online business (blog and RUclips channel) is our full time gig. Thanks for watching!
It’s always on? Isn’t that dangerous for the children…. Yikes :(
It’s not hot enough to the touch to burn you! All good there ☺️
yuck, you lost me at cold eggnog for breakfast...
A really unnecessary comment.
Ok then bye
To each his own, but we thoroughly enjoyed it :)
@@FromScratchFarmsteadI’ll have their portion please. ❤
Your knife is dull, dangerous when dull.
It could use a sharpen for sure!
Sorry but it's called an ARGA
Thanks for watching!
Not sure where you’re getting that from….the company is AGA. I have never heard it pronounced with an “r” but that may be a regional thing.
