since people have been asking about the theories here's a quick resumee of the theories I mentioned in the video:
JENSEN THEORY: basically Jensen survived the bus crash last season and Tom is investigating him. This theory exists because of the last scene of season 1 hinting (basically guaranteed) Jensen surviving. Because Jensen is a wanted criminal who has been exterminating animals he wouldn't hesitate to k*** Tom as revenge and so Tom decided to cut all contacts with Jake and Miriam because by investigating a dangerous criminal, the criminal could likely hurt Jake and Miriam to reach Tom and he wants to prevent that.
TRAUMA THEORY: this one is a little more vague. It's about Tom having a trauma about opening up to people and these people hurt him that prevent him from being straightforward with others. it's suspected it's tied to an abusive dad since on episode 5 from last season he made up an excuse to not call his family and the greetings confirmed he loves his mom it's possible his dad was abusive and whenever he tried to understand him he always failed. so basically when he opened up to Jake last season and he suddenly believed Ellie over him this trauma resurfaced and now he can't face him anymore.

Maybe he lied to avoid facing Jake, simply. Ik he's been wanting to talk to him, he mentioned he “didn't have the chance to” so it means he wanted to talk to him eventually, but maybe he couldn't bring himself to. Not only that, but maybe he still has feelings for Jake, but the wounds are still fresh. They haven't talked for two years, surely they didn't have time to heal. It's like having to let go of someone without even saying goodbye, it just hurts. Possibly, Tom thinks of Jake as the same Jake he used to be in season one (although he's been getting better with his paranoia this season). Idk if he's lying or not, but if he is, I'm sure it has to do with Tom not being able to either admit he's not ready to date. Or maybe Tom just not wanting to date Jake atm, thinking it might hurt him AGAIN. I don't think Tom lied to avoid hurting Jake, he just ADMITTED to still liking him, and wanting to talk more and patch things up. I think Tom isnt ready to face him, isnt ready to fix things with him yet. I think this mightve been self defense and he didnt have time to think over his words, so he's just living with the lie for now, telling Aiden too. That's if hes even lying though.

what pisses me off about tom doing this is that he chided jake for horrible communication, and now he's doing exactly that when jake is clearly trying to change. tom should just flat out say if he's not interested in jake anymore instead of ghosting and avoiding him. at least jake can hang up his feelings and move on.

I completely disagree. If I was Tom, I would hate jake. Jake was constantly getting manipulated into distrusting Tom instead of trusting him. Tom doesn’t owe Jake ANYTHING. If Tom wants to lie and not talk to Jake, then that’s his choice. Maybe he doesn’t feel comfortable talking to Jake because Jake is VERY irrational and easily manipulated. Jake even got so jealous he took out James. Jake really needs to move on and he can only blame himself this relationship with Tom didn’t work.

I could instantly tell Tom was lying, there is no way he could of gotten a boyfriend when he’s acting to Jake that way, and the fact he was tearing up also made me feel bad but I think if he still didn’t like Jake he wouldn’t of acted that way so I think Tom is somewhat scared to get into a relationship with him again due to past issues as he said to Aiden, Jake is a sensitive but sweet person.

Since I have experience with Tom and Jake's situation (I would explain the whole story but that would be long and that's not what the topic is right now so il just explain what I think.) I feel like the reason why Tom could be lying about having a boyfriend could be one of three things.
1. He got over his feelings for Jake and only wants to be his friend, (which is most likely not the case)
2. He feels the same way but doesn't want the same situation from the first season to happen again.
3. He still has those feelings but panicked when Jake said he wanted to them to be something more because that would be kind of rushing it like last time then things would fall apart again (cause of the game)
This is just what I think since I understand the situation clearly from my past experiences.

Remember when Tom was always lying in Season 1 when he was still a spy. He was so bad at lying and yet the other scouts always believed him. I thought they were so gullible and dumb. And then this episode aired and so many in the comment section weren't sure he was lying. That's when I realized how Tom's bad lying in season 1 was realistically effective in real life.

I believe the Jensen Theory. There is no way Tom is just suddenly ignoring the two people he was closest to the last season for no reason or simply because he no longer has feelings for Jake (if that’s the case, why ignore and ghost Miriam as well)? There is something bigger going on, I definitely do think Jensen survived and is wanting revenge on Tom, and would be willing to hurt Jake and Miriam in order to get to him, so he cut contact with them and is trying to push Jake away in order to protect them.
