In the book, when they tried apparating, Neville essentially cut himself in half. If they could just learn everything they need to know from some spell, then there would be a lot of deaths like that because there would be no professors to fix you, and you wouldn't have had the practice for it.

It's a credit to this animator that the amount of references that get thrown in makes me want to watch them multiple times. Michael as a Super Saiyan and the DB reference was especially good.
Gavin’s level of expectations of wizardry is equally to that of legitimately being a master of masters in terms of sorcery. To create a spell that would allow an 11 year old (as that’s the age to get to into Hogwarts) to obtain the experience they have learned over 7 years (as they graduate at 18) would not be easy and completely irresponsible. You’re essentially giving a young child who has yet to hit puberty the knowledge and experience of their adult version. Literally this kind of situation would cause more children to be like Voldemort when either their impulses or puberty strike.
The problem with HP's magic system is the lack of rules it abides by. All we are told is that wizards need a wand to cast spells, and that they need experience and tutelage to more effectively cast them. Other than that, HP's magic system never sets a limit to its capabilities, which is why people like Gavin and myself question the logic behind how the story progresses.

You take O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) in 5th year, in your core classes (Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, History of Magic, Herbology, and Astronomy) and whatever extracurriculars you take (Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies). The grade you get on your OWLs determines which NEWT level classes you are allowed to take, usually only an Outstanding (A) or Exceeds Expectations (B) on an OWL will get you into the NEWT class, though some allow Acceptable (C). Poor (D) is never accepted into class but us repeatable, and Dreadful (F) means you're pretty much out of luck. During your 5th year you meet with your Head of House (McGonagall, Snape, Flitwick, or Sprout during Harry's years) to discuss what you may want to do with your life, and they outline what grades you need to receive in NEWTs in which classes to be accepted in that job, and what you need to get on the OWLs to make sure you get into the classes you need. In 6th and 7th year you can drop core classes if they're not needed for your chosen career, and you focus on the classes needed for what you want to do in life. School stuff takes a distinct backseat to the rule-breaking Harry gets up to. Also the school stuff is *literally magic schooling* so I wouldn't say the magic isn't exactly mentioned often. The only class with practically no mentions of casting magic in it is History of Magic- which is taught by a ghost.

My favorite part of the description is at the end with the super subtle Always Sunny joke. It’s beautiful that only a couple of people will read it and even less will understand it. What a beautiful pairing of my 2 favorite things.

The whole thing about Magic is that you have a starting point and then you use magic to obtain a result. You can understand the start and the end of the magic, but you can't explain the process. It isn't necessarily breaking the rules of physics, but more like using as of then-unknown rules of physics. The moment you can explain the process in detail, it ceases to become magic and becomes science instead. The magical part is that you can do it without needing to know how you do it, you just need to know that you can.

The whole thing about Magic is that you have a starting point and then you use magic to obtain a result. You can understand the start and the end of the magic, but you can't explain the process. It isn't necessarily breaking the rules of physics, but more like using as of then-unknown rules of physics. The moment you can explain the process in detail, it ceases to become magic and becomes science instead. The magical part is that you can do it without needing to know how you do it, you just need to know that you can.
