Great explanation video, thank you! Definitive a very useful addition to the V collection. Can imagine how much work is necessary to recreate this synth!
What interests me most is the 4 layer arp. I wish Arturia would have allowed separate effects per layer, which would expand the usefulness of the 2 layers and their arp layer integration. Nice synth though... might buy it! :)
Sounds Great! Is Arturia going to lower the CPU load on their plugins at some point? I would like to use these plugins live but to do so I have to have a super expensive laptop to do it or just keep them in the studio. I can usually get one or two of their plugins to run live with other vsts but that's about it. Guess I could use the Astro lab for that.
Gave my Cherry Audio version to a very deserving friend and have since missed the exceptionally powerful leads it's capable of. Then along strolls Arturia!
I ask for ARP 2600 *V4* made in collaboration with Jean Michel Jarre. Maybe even his personal 2600 modeled. He also has Moog Modular and EMS Synthi that could be used to upgrade old Modular V and Synthi V. Why Arturia have never collaborated with JMJ is confusing. His experience and his historic synths mean jackpot for Arturia.
I agree 100% about wishing for the collaboration with Jean-Michele Jarre. Yet - I don't genuinely believe it's feasible. JMJ is globally famous on an epic scale, and undoubtedly and deservedly a very rich man. I can't see this as a win-win for his side. For example - how could he possibly endorse Arturia in any way, shape or form at a live event? Why on earth would he or should he? Just take a close look at his use of multiple large touch-screens live at his recent Versailles 400 multi-media extravaganza, and the live concert in Bratislava. Arturia are light years away from that vision, creativity and functionality. And it's because of their owner/leader model. No more, no less. Profits for the owners in the here and now. Nothing new there. It's like 96% of global companies according to all the leading market research companies. It's still a great dream though 😄
@@ianmacauley4996 That's for Arturia to figure out how. They're both French, they'll come to terms one way or the other. Maybe through some mutual connections. JMJ recorded a video for Arturia a few years back, so he definitely acknowledges the company. Besides, I didn't suggest doing Star Wars laser shows with JMJ. Only upgrading the existing 2600, Modular and Synthi in Arturia catalog for starters. That's not asking much.
@@triplebeam23 Arturia is decades old now. Economy wasn't always crap. They should have done something together with JMJ ages ago. But now is never better. The software tech has advanced significantly since they first started. I love how CS-80V and Prophet V were revoiced. Mini V too.
Sounds good, but I can't help thinking all these new VSTs are a bit of a con. It doesn't seem to do much that I can't already do with Pigments, just set both synth engines to Analogue and that gives you two layers. Maybe a few features like cross modulating PWM, sync and poly spread, but I can do all of that in VCV Rack for free. This probably uses most of the same code as Pigments, just stick a new GUI on it, claim it's modelled on some exotic or rare old hardware and it's money for nothing basically. Nice to have options, but personally I can't see any benefit in paying for this. I think that sound design and imagination are more important than which soft synth you choose these days.
The question is: how well it can do JMJ's "Laser Harp" sound. None of the VST emulations so far have been able to deliver it properly (apologies if it's in the video, I couldn't watch it in its entirety)
@Arturia: please make the Layer Control Section able to be modulated. A/B select and the modes. This would be great. Also the Position of the macro buttons would be better to be in Front and Not in advanced.
Did anyone notice that it doesn´t seem possible to engage both ringmod switches at the same time? I think it definately has a synthex vibes but it would be sad, if they omited this feature, it turns it into a beautiful noise machine. Ok, the built in tutorial states that only one Oscillater can be set to Ring mod, why? @Arturia
Great overview - and I really enjoy Matt's style and technique. Brilliant Synth and I will with no doubt be buying this - going to wait for Collection XI and hope/assume it'll be bundled in for us loyal Collection 7-8-9-10 customers & supporters. And by the way - great to see your (anonymous) Quality Controllers managed to find the Stereo switch. The Mono version was a bit on the 'Pathetique' side, n'est-ce pas mes amis?😄
For a vst 99 bucks is allready overpriced. This price is to high! You almost can buy a hardware synth for it. But i must say the sounds this thing brings is great.
i just wish these guys would add a randomize button for their synths... dice roll button is super common in so many plugins now
Even better would be a randomize per section like the Korgs have. Meaning oscillators, envelopes, fx etc can be randomize independently
Great sounding synth. Another Arturia winner.

Tried the demo last night and it does sound excellent.
Love the Men I Trust thrown in there

Just freeze your track
Great Video! Thanks for it! =)

Very nice I’m hoping this will be on v colection 11

Because that shit costs money.. the economy is still crap
Do you know what Jarre also has ? A GRP A8...i would loooove to see that monster done by Arturia ... not the A4 though...i have that one :)

Agreed!
yeah definitely sounds like something you can make in even omnisphere!
CPU load seems to be very high with it
It’s a 16 voice dual layer synth
Is it possible to smoothly blend the A/B layers or automate a morph between them? Or are they simply on or off?
I know how an Elka sounds : amazing!
But why is the chorus in mono ?????

Very nice and comprehensive review. What a beatiful beast this is! Well explained and well played. Thank you so much!!

I'm going to break out my piggy bank and count the coins so I can have this wonder in my arsenal.
Arturia Please: add the Arp from this Synth to Pigments !!!
NOOT NOOT!

you cant buy Elka synth for 99.
I never buy these individually. I wait for them to get bundled and then wait for black friday or summer sales etc.
@@bateimidrashnetwork yeah. Its now 99 on pluginboutique but still its tomuch in my opinion.
D-Y-N-A-M-I-C-S....that's what's selling me on this thing!
