Thank you very much for showing how to do magic with this great synthesizer. What a beautiful sound you are getting out of this! It's a pleasure to watch.
Honestly if i just listen to the presets i can see and know exactly where this guys come from. Arturia is simply amazig. Thumbs up guys! Arturia never stop pease! This is exactly the type of sound i've always loved and aimed for my whole life. This is the style of music i want to create. Real music, so much more than just partymusic! ❤️🔥
Arturia needs to spread those draggable effects around to all of their other plugins asap. Also they could probably pull out those arp effects for a rather impressive standalone midi arp/sequencer plugin for their fx bundle
Probably the most interesting synth emulation done by arturia yet. Really intruiging, even more so considering the Elka Synthex is a lesser known italian synthesizer and not just another big name
I always love your vids but please consider boosting the gain on your vocals. You have a soft voice that background noise on my end tends to overwhelm. Synth levels are fine. Edit: actually it may just need the mids boosted on the voice, bass is pretty strong.
Here's a video idea / question I have - the V collection has a whole lot of synths, including this one, the MicroFreak, the Juno, the Jupiter, the Moog, the MS-20, etc etc, and many others than seem similar at first glance. How do you decide which to pick, if they all seem to do some sort of classic analog subtractive synthesis? Like, I know Moog is known for it's incredible filter and bass, but what about all the others?
To be absolutely frank, most analog synthesizers sound rather similar. There are some differences regarding the oscillators and the filters, but these differences are relatively minor and will not matter much in a song. Which one you pick for a certain part is depending on your expectations. Personally, I associate specific sounds with specific hardware and I reach for those if I have that sound in mind. For majestic filter sweeps it is the 2600, for twinkling glassy arpeggios it is the Prologue, for lush space-leads it is the Odyssey, for woody and dark basses it is the Subsequent 37, for gnarly trumpets it is the MS-20 - and so on. Other people may have other associations.
This is more a thing with hardware synths as they have limitations that software emulations don't have to stress about like polyphony etc...Pigments is pretty comprehensive if you were looking to narrow it down to just one. But you would likely buy a few others because of familiarity or workflow to getting a certain type of sound that works for you. In this case if you can afford it the V Collection is the way to go because you'll likely get close to spending that much just buying a few synths anyway and Arturia run a business model that is geared towards extracting more coin from you😂. They do make a fine product though and i don't regret my purchase at all, expensive as it was music is my life hobby and people spend way more on other stuff so for me it was justified. Having the suite at your disposal has some crazy powerful creative potential. This said, if you really know ypur stuff you could likely honestly get away with just Ableton alone. But people's workflow and getting from a to b are different so it's more accessible to everyone. I used to use just Ableton and one synth but the Arturia FX collection really did it for me. If you are on the fence you absolutely cannot overlook DIVA either. Grabbing it when on special is a no brainer.
Loving the quality of comments on this video. As someone with limited time for music production, my workflow revolves around working with a few synth VSTs that I know and like. The MiniV, Prophet and Pigments are the ones I've used the most. The categorised presets in each of the synths covers most bases of sounds, Analog Lab enables broader searching, and V Collection subscription enables tweaking the synths in depth. I bought a cool little midi controller specifically the Mini V which is alot of fun and has led me to explore that synth alot. I am conscious of GAS and not wasting money and time on new things when I already have a workable workflow. In saying that I'm considering upgrading from my V Collection 7 subscription (which is still going strong!) - there's alot of value if you can stretch your purchase out a few years before upgrading.
Ive heard about it and super excited to demo it as soon as I can. It's been a busy week but def expect content with that one. I've been waiting so long for a polivox emu. Wanna compare it to my analog polivox mini
Instead of paying 199 euros for arturias Elka X emulation I suggest the CHERRY AUDIOS ELKA X emulation which cost only 49 dollar and its so amazingly good and Cherry audio is very well known for delivering high quality design aswell as high quality sounds aswell in combination with expanded options integrated within their emulations ❤
I don't own any Arturia instruments except Pigments yet (+ FX Collection). I got an offer for V Collection X + Synthx for 299€. Is this as good as it gets or should I wait for Black Friday or the release of the next V Collection (which then probably also includes the MiniBrute)?
Not Even Close. Another failure in the soft synth realm. If it didn't have the Synthex lore attached to it, it would be just another soft synth that tries to sound analogue.
@@Jean-ix7lu The "in a mix.." card is never legit. There's nothing anyone can tell in a mix, ever, in any mix. Don't play it safe. If you ever have the chance to play with this thing and be able to play with a real Synthex, Live, in the same room, back to back, you will know what I'm talking about.
@@tristen_grant That is not what I said. The possibilities of altering an original sound on a mix are infinite. Nobody ever knows what the producer has really done in a mix. That's why a mix is never credible. Only the raw, live, standalone sound of an instrument is able to give a clear sonic image. And if we experience this with an original synth, the vst replications will vanish in oblivion after comparison.
I‘ve been using Arturia (complete collection) for very long time over the years now. Lately upgraded everything. But this new addition and the offer does not even attract me a bit. I do not know, how this can be any innovation soundwise or such in any other direction. I am starting to get bored. Rather the sound is disappointing me somehow. And I tend to dislike it. It sounds like cheap and average digital emulation to me, having some modern real analog hardware synths that would fit this kind of subtractive synthesis much better. I would not even try to replace their sound with that emulation nor would I attempt to replace any of my loved VA synths (hard or software) in this category with the new item. Sorry, I have to pass this time.

best synth emulation by Arturia.... lovely sounds
Nice review. Love the multi arp...wish they would release that as a standalone midi tool.

They should put this arpeggiator into the next version of Pigments.
You release the video faster than Arturia is sending out their promo emails (didn't get one yet)
haha, guess im jonny on the spot lmao

Jon, have you seen the new synth from Cherry Audio "Atomica"? Polivoks emulation, sounds very similar

Seems like it'd be hard to come up with new stuff in soft synths; Arturia seems to always deliver the goods.
the osc pwm from the other osc, ring mod and the arp truly make it an interesting synth
there are some great emulations by arturia but i think this this and the new mini moog really stand out!
what do you mean sorry

it's $99 if you have an account already
