- This is my sort of second part from Freddie's video as in its a Queen theme.
I scavanged EVERYWHEERE for any amount of John Deacon footage. Unfortunately he's is a very underratted bassist and ever overall musician so making a whole entire different clip video tribute was a bit of a challenge. But so worth it. I love this song so much. It took me soo long to do, about 3 days. Its from the Queen album News of the World. And this song has one of my favourite guitar solos. Enjoy and please comment :)
John also invented the Deacy Amp from a bunch of scrap electronic pieces. Queen relied on him to set-up and place the mics and amps on the sound stages before concerts. He was a wizard! Before joining the band he had planned to study electronics at university. He was only 17 at the time. While we know Bri is brilliant, it was John who handled Queens finances and advertising before they could affored to hire managers. His bass riffs and melodies are unforgetable. Still miss you John.
siriusminx John did actually earn his degree in electrical engineering.. All 4 members of Queen have degrees: Bri has a phd in Astrophysics, Rog a BoS in Biology, John a Bachelors in engineering and Fred was given his degree in fine arts/drama later. ❤️

Love all of Deaky's songs - even the ones that were not huge hits (like Misfire). "You're My Best Friend" still gets terrific radio play in the United States - I just heard it yesterday as I was eating lunch at a restaurant in downtown Boston. On another note, I think Deaky loved and depended on Freddie like a big brother. I don't think he ever got over Freddie's death.
I believe that he was affected the most and I think was the reason why he retired from music

The reason he is never voted top in 'Greatest Bassist' polls, is simply because he wasn't seen or heard much on stage or in interviews. He did compose some fantastic masterpieces, and should be more credited than he is in my opinion.
..But since people did not see much of him, he won't be voted high by many people.
John Deacon is so amazing. I always love watching fan vids because then I know i'm not the only Deaky fan out there. It sure feels like that sometimes because often he is the 'forgotten' member, which is quite sad to say he wrote some of their greatest hits and is a great man.

I just read that John and his wife have been married for 33 years now. THAT IS GREAT. Too many celebrities take marriage too lightly. My hats off to Mr Deacon, his wife and their 6 children.

I've always found this one of the examples that John Deacon is a hell of a bassplayer as well as a great pop songwriter. Just listen to the bass part here. So melodic, musical and groovy. A great piece of work!
This was one hell of an incredible group. I've loved them since I was at Primary School, and now, it is very sad to see how the other members have moved on. It would have been nice if they could have stayed together. I often think about these remaining members now; especially John Deacon. There is a sadness in his eyes, like he is always thinking of Freddy and the band, also a loneliness about him...something real deep. I just hope they never lose touch with one another. THANKS for the vid!
I'm a huge Queen fa, and I must say, this is the most footage I've ever seen of John lol. I always stress the fact that, Deacon is an extremely talented, and creative bassist. He is so underrated. I guess it's due to his quiet lifestyle.

John Deacon is a private man... i understand that... i just hope he knows how f*cking wonderful and influential he is.... Queen brought together four geniuses the lynch in and calming focre amongst those super powers was John....I demand he comes out of retirement we are missing a real craftsman in the music industry!

He doesn't because it brings him back memories and he just wants to live a calm life and relax after the shock of Freddie's death

kijm brooks its mostly because of Freddie's death. He's just living a calm life thinking about other things
I think that he just wants to be left alone with his family. I know this sounds kind of selfish from the fans but his wishes should be respected.

When I was. 16 I saw queen in Boston. That was. 40 years ago. After that I saw. Them. 4 more times. I took my daughter to see them. Our favorite. Song is. Don’t stop me now. Told her when I die she has to sing this song. It’s our song. Love you Freddy

@Metalboy721 John is the type of person who hates change. Without Freddie he never really saw himself with another band. He went to depression when Queen went into hiatus and was happy again touring with Freddie. With Freddie gone no more john
Sorry Korvinski...Queen did have smart guy's with degrees, but none in music. John, electronics...Brian, astrophysisist...Roger, biology (dental studies)...Freddie, art and design. Fantastic band.

I remember the first time I saw Queen on The Midnight Special. I guess it was 1977 or 1978. Bohemian Rhapsody. I Quickly went and bought all the vinyl albums. That era was the beginning of the end, of the golden age of music. I am sad for kids now a days and sad for us that know what good music is, as it seems to be a lost art. Darn near vanished from the face of the earth.
