I prefer the 10 over 8 year. It has more depth and flavor imo (Ginger, All Spice, Cinnamon, Vanilla) and the price for the Diez in the US is around £32 / $42. Cocktails I’ve used the Diez in include: Cuba Libre, Old Cubans, & NuiNui/Popule

I've had the 8 several times and I'm currently enjoying a bottle of the 10 but when that's gone I will go back to the 8. The 10 is nicer but not enough to justify the higher price IMO.

Thank you for this video! For quite some time, I've been eyeing the Bacardi Ocho as a possible rum-and-coke and casual sipper. I also appreciate the price point on this rum. Sounds like it is going to be just right for me.

I was lucky to get a bottle of the 8 on clearance when Tesco had a range change and got it for £19. Amazon had the 8 on offer recently at £25 also. Still early days in my rum journey but glad I’ve got it

Thanks for the video, great comparison! Probably should've watched it before I went ahead and bought the 10 year haha. In Finland the 8 is 35€ and the 10 is 45€ and it had a "limited supply" note so i went with that! Its a lovely sipping Rum, haven't tried mixing it yet but I was definitely thinking of keeping it simple, as you mentioned a Rum Old Fashioned or Daiquiri, but I'm happy to have this on my shelf and I'll go for the 8 next time 😊

Haven't watched the video yet but Im jumping straight in and saying 8 is my preference. Bit too much wood on the 10 for my novice palate.

That's crazy here in Canada it's only a 5$ price difference. Just bought the 10 year yesterday and I'm pleasantly surprised at how different the taste is from 8 year. I had assumed it was the same rum but older. The 8 year is higher proof and has more spice to it, but the 10 year is fruitier

Hi Steve! Great review as always. The only thing that has discouraged me from buyin' the 8yo so far (we ain't got the 10 any more) is my friend's words that it smells of "newly laid goudron"🤣🤣🤣 Is it really so?🤣

I totally agree that any improvement you may find with the 10 just isn't worth that huge price differential. Having said that, I'm not a huge fan of the 8 and think there are better rums out there around that price-point.

I prefer 3 to 5 year rums. I love the 4... I use it for cocktails. I actually don't like the 8 at all. I like the 10 better but at the price I'm going Appleton 12.

I'm watching from Brasil and here the 10 years is twice the price compared to the 8 years 😮.

I always somewhat steered away from Bacardi for the smaller batch producers like Allenton, Plantation, Flor de Cana types of rum believing they were better, but what I learned over time is they are just different in the way they are produced just as the Bourbon I drink. So I gave these a try and I truly like the richness and fuller body and dried fruits that is in the 10yr over the 8yr. And I have gained a much greater respect for Bacardi as a true sipping rum. I am a 100% sipper of all my bourbon's and rum's. Also the prices difference here in the States where I live is only $8.00 @ $36.00 so for that small difference, to me it is well worth going to the 10yr.

If diez was good enough for Maradona it's good enough for me.

here in germany you are actually looking at 30 euros so 25 pounds for the 8 year old. for the 10 year old we are looking at 45 euros if it isnt sold out. Anyways never been a fan of bacardi rum except when I tried the 8 year old and for the price of 30 euros it was actually very nice would recommend if you can get it at this price. Personally with that huge mark up for 2 years extra aging I dont think Bacardi 10 year old is worth the money, for 45 euros sure but not for 60+

Does anyone know, if the aged bacardi rums (4yo, 8yo, 10yo) have added sugar in them?

Minimal to not a lot. Certainly not heavily dosed. But they don't declare anything. Thats just Hydrometer tests, so never 100% accurate.
