I think this series is a great idea especially for "newer" players to get reviews on different discs. Can't wait to see the mid's and drivers episodes.
Hunter is a vibe. Get a Honeybee stat! Make it fly and they smash....gravity,yeah,but, protege, and pinnacle hunters for throwing out the window. Hey hey hey.... love you!
I like seeing your thought process. I love a bead, but totally understand it's about personal feel and preference for every hand size/shape. Keep up the series, big fan!
Wicked excited to see what your bag looks like going into the new season. Having the freedom to choose any disc really lets us see what pros think the best on the market are.
I just switched to the new P2s for all of the reasons you described in terms of why you like the alpaca. But like you said it's down to plastic - the slight tackiness of the new D-line plastic is great for me but I could see why some would prefer something slicker. I really enjoyed hearing your thought process around which discs you liked and didn't like. Very helpful for players of all levels. Can't wait to see the rest!
Wish you would have used the nomad at 40ft. Also surprised you didn't compare it to the judge. I use both they feel and putt identical. Judge little heavier in the flight plate. Nomad has a touch more high speed glide
Awesome.man!! Love that you taking the time to go through these disc both backhand and forehand and commentary on them.Awesome really like this type of post very helpful to average players too!! THANKS MUCH!!
As you mentioned, there are several other Gateway putter molds in the same plastic options as the Wizard. The worlock is a beadless wizard, may be more what you like
I think the one you're missing on this you might dig is the Bullet from mint. Straight, high glide, Handles drives. Great for putting. Base plastic is gonna be a touch more US than the premiums.
I thought the Voodoo has a very different profile than a wizard (I throw a Voodoo for straight approach shots but putt with something else). Its way "rounder" that a wizard. I believe if you want a Wizard WITHOUT the bead, then you're looking at a Warlock aren't you (I'm no Gateway expert).
I use a gravity plastic, and I definitely use it for 35-60 footers over the voodoo, which I tend to keep in C1 unless I'm confident about a lift in the wind
I like that the Hunter doesn't start to fade out until later in the flight. A tiny anny release, and I can throw it dead straight at 45ft. Or I can release flat and aim right edge chains, knowing it'll drift into chains at the end of flight
R-blend Alpacas are my favorite C1 plastic. I did however just get some sweet Ninja stamped Glow P-blend to bag for outside circle and throwing putters 😁
He wants to lean more towards his sponsors Infinite or Thought Space if he can. The fact he kept switching putters while at DD should tell you he wasn't finding what he liked from his previous p2.
I hope to see you trying some more Discmania for the other slots in your bag! I’ve recently swapped to mostly them (and a GG Emperor after watching you throw it. That disc is amazing).
I think the Berg could be best circle 1 putter if you can get use to hand feel. I've been putting with Envy because I prefer shallow and beadless. It works great, but thinner putter gets more spit-outs especially with mvp rubber rim bouncing off pole.
I missed a lot of putters, but I wasn't able to grab every single one! The Alpaca will not be dethroned though, I am only gaining more and more confidence when I use them!
Just what I needed I can't seem to settle on a putter I can putt pretty well inside circle 1 and at c1x regardless of disc but for distance I lean towards my innova xt nova its got a lot of glide stays up but tends to get understandable with an aggressive putt
I'm a Wizard guy, but if you like beadless you should try the Warlock, I'm really surprised those haven't caught on more as a much cheaper alternative to P2's or Lunas.
I'd love opinions about a putting question. I finally just got a stack of the putter I like so I can practice and save time walking to the basket. But they're slightly different weights and some different plastics. Am I messing up my consistency by not having them all exactly the same or is it no biggie.
@@Malakaizonker You haven't felt the new blend of Lucid plastic, then. Go find the newest pink emac truth, and a pink MD3 and you tell me its not the same plastic. Please.
@@Malakaizonker Check it out. Both have the same slippery feel. Same exact plastic. Same thing with the cloudbreaker 3's basically being Gold Line from Lat64, except the CB3's are a special blend and slightly gummier.
So my question is, if you're sponsored by infinite and you were choosing between Alpacas and P2s, would you be obligated to choose Alpacas because it's made by infinite (since they're the same mold)? I know it's an open bag, but I feel like the point of similar molds is so you choose their disc over the same mold competitors
@@WhalePants I'm not sure how the P-blend feels, but I also don't really like the Flex stuff. however, the rainmaker has a much nicer Flex plastic, it doesn't have that tacky feel on the flight plate like I think you mentioned in the video. It's more of a smooth rubbery blend. But the effort of getting those wouldn't be worth it unless your buddy Eagle can hook you up.
When you check out driving putters - or more specifically approach discs - I recommend including the Gateway Devil Hawk and the Prodigy A2. DH is like a much more OS Berg. A2 is the first Zone to actually be better than the Zone.
I’m a DM guy of course but this was excellent. Always good to learn how other discs fly even if I may not throw them. Digging this partnership with Infinite. Subscribed!
Ever since I switched to the nomad, my putting has been on point. I dont want to sound biased because I throw all gyro, but that little bead has never bothered me and it's very consistent. I'd give it some more time if you're willing.
I switched putters so many times with DD. It wasn’t a putter problem, they have some amazing putters, they just didn’t work for me personally. DD and I are on good terms.
@@WhalePants good to hear, you're one of my favorite athletes and I am Team trilogy always so that would have been a bummer!! Looking forward to your future with an open bag! Good luck man!
To me what i think is. I just watched Dickerson interview with Johnny disc golf. Besides the Buzz. His putter of choice is the Chally os. a Xl on fairway besides the undertaker. I have seen this trend where the Pro are probably being told to throw these disc. With Eric he prob can throw what the hell he wants.
If you don't want a bead or beadless putter to effect your choice in a putter you like, place your finger up on the edge and not towards the bottom edge. It's less than a centimeter adjustment and an adjustment that will last the rest of your golf career.
I used to putt P2s back in the day, the Alpaca is basically a P2. Trilogy doesn’t have a disc close to a P2, so I’ve spent years searching. The Alpaca is pure quality and is deserving of the spot in my bag, sponsor aside.
@@WhalePants Idk man. The Faith from Latitude 64 is a lot closer to a P2 than the Alpaca is. Infinite hasn't gotten them yet, but the new Sea Otter putter from Wild Discs would be a good beadless stable putter option worth checking out too imo.
@@Thisnameisnottakenjk you’re not wrong, I was using the Faith for the tail end of this past season. But the Faith is still not an alpaca or P2 and that difference will show in my confidence on the green as well as in throwing putters.
I’ve been putting with the p blend alpacas since early last summer, because it reminded me of the P2 which is what I used when I was with innova! I freaking love the alpaca. It feels like home
I think this series is a great idea especially for "newer" players to get reviews on different discs. Can't wait to see the mid's and drivers episodes.
My favorite headless putter ever is Gateway Warlock. Give it a try.

As a Legacy fan and an Eric Oakley fan I would love to see Eric rocking a Hunter in the bag.
Excellent...Both Disc and Man...Elevated....get that guy some Honey Bee Hunter!!! Go Capt EO!!!
I like seeing your thought process. I love a bead, but totally understand it's about personal feel and preference for every hand size/shape. Keep up the series, big fan!
This video is a great example of how little your putter matters inside the circle. You nailed strong side with every disc. It's all about hand feel.

Honestly the Alpaca is awesome so thanks to all the other putters for coming out.

@@boyfromoz7 based on subjective feel, I'm in no position to tell you you're wrong, but from the factory the Voodoo is labeled as the beadless Wizard.

Hope you like some of their stuff Eric they have some nice plastic and enjoyable flights ✈️
Great video! you fogtot about the kasta plast Berg k3 tho ;) its a putting putter, approach and throwing putter all built in 1! ;)
Are you opposed to throwing trilogy in your open bag? Team Warden for life. Good luck this year! Hope you kill it with infinite!

The fact he kept switching putters while at DD should tell you he wasn't finding what he liked from his previous p2.
Beadless nomad = Pilot 😍
The envy is an amazing throwing putter, cant imagine putting with it beside a park job with it on an approach
Have you tried the kastaplast reko....very similar to the marshal
I hope to see you trying some more Discmania for the other slots in your bag! I’ve recently swapped to mostly them (and a GG Emperor after watching you throw it. That disc is amazing).
when you say discmania do you mean their innova molds, lat64 molds, or yikun discs molds because discmania isn't a manufacturer.
@@brian6speed they're making they're own molds now. Innova doesn't make the originals anymore.
Like the series! Assuming you're doing throwing putters next, you should look at the Streamline Pilot. MVP plastic but without the overmold.

You forgot the best MVP putter.. The Atom

I use the Envy as a throwing putter not a putting putter but your Envy putts were coming out so clean.

Birdie Marvel is awesome. Like they took everything good about the P2 and accentuated it.
