- With the White Sox looking to build a new ballpark in the South Loop for the future, Chuck Garfien goes back to the past, speaking with author Ken Smoller about Comiskey Park and why it holds such a special meaning for White Sox fans all these years later. Smoller has written a companion piece to the popular 2023 documentary "Last Comiskey" with never-before-seen photos of the old park at 35th and Shields. They talk about the book, the ballpark, the final season in 1990, whether Guaranteed Rate Field will have a similar effect on Sox fans in the future, and more.

It’s a fantastic doc and brought back awesome memories can’t wait for Last Stadium
It never should have been torn down.
Never change and it never been torn down
As a young kid in the 60's, as I recall we could get into the old park for very little money if we were wearing a little league uniform.
We used to go roam the park, and go down to the picnic area to try and score free food, and look out for the family (alcohol fueled) fights that would sometimes breakout, especially during double-headers.
Go-go White Sox!
I am 70 years old and I remember the smells - cigarettes … beer and going to twinight doubleheaders etc
I was born in 1980, but I remember Old Comiskey, and those hard green seats
Would love to see compilation of home movies and other video stock from 1959 World Series. Official film fun, but has to be more out there.
Being born in 1995, I was never able to have the Comiskey experience
I'm 41 years old, never been to old comiskey. I loved new comiskey before the renovations other than the upper deck. I miss the blue seats, the original scoreboard, the horns and the old batter eyes. I hate guaranteed rate field and the tacky outfield area.
I'll probably always call it that, even if they realize their latest stadium dream
I miss Comiskey Park so much. So pissed when they demolished it. I didn't go to the new park for 10 years. Still don't like the new ballpark.
