I have roughly the same compressor and the same setup for my air guns, I did get my air tested and it is, in fact, breathable air with secolube brand oil, no CO, oxygen level of 20.4, low PPM, VOC, with no odor. For reference, my scuba shop gets CO 2ppm @ 3000psi, so this diy system works ironically better (when I tested it, who knows how low it would last). You don't actually need to have a back pressure regulator to get clean air. I don't recommend anyone to do this just for safety reasons, just get your tank filled at the scuba place. This is not economical to do you would have to refill your tanks 50 to 80 times from empty to full to break even to the scuba shop $10 per tank refill. Or even more assuming you don't have to change the expensive oil or other parts don't break. Nevertheless it is pretty cool that such a small compressor can get up to such a high pressure to fill a large 60 min tank.
It works but you need more filter stages to be ABSOLUTELY safe for breathing air. I left a comment on his "do it yourself scuba breathing" video describing the stages. If you are using it for airguns all you need is Seccolube 500 or equivalent oil, oil/water separator, cotton/charcoal/cotton filter, and a PMV @ 2k psi to pressure release valve (also acts as a one way valve). This allows you to bleed the compressor side before you shut it off.
This is exactly my set up, since I do a ton of PCP shooting and not too much scuba diving. Breathable air oil that is diester based, water & oil seperator, cotton, desicants, molecular, charcoal, and cotton. This is excluding the parts that are inside of the compressor, which don't work to remove water. I did buy a PMV valve but I found it was not necessary for my setup. I have a couple of air quality measurement tools and yes they are needed. I first fill up my PCP tank then slowly transfer the air to the scuba tank after the air quality tests clean. The PCP tank stays above 2000psi and I fill it to 300bar, so the PMV is not need in this circumstance. There is already a one way value in the compressor. One time with my set up I got 9ppm of CO, since these Chinese machines hate heat above 55c, which caused the high piston to carbon up. The carbon piston was weird, its not like normal burn on oil, it was black but had the consistently like grease. I didn't need to clean it since it was under the 10PPM of CO excepted level in the US but I cleaned the high piston out anyways to get the CO back down to 0ppm. Again what I'm doing is not recommended one bit.

@@Technie87 Yea you can do this by pumping cold faucet water and draining the warm water out as the temp stays around 45c and also a fan can lower the temp to 40c. Low temp is the best thing for these compressors.
It would be interesting to have a power meter attached so you can calculate how much each fill costs.
The oil is probably where all your cost is going to be.
Have the Same setup with numerous filters . Still got a 300ppm co content . Dangerous levels in one tank. I did allow to run to 60c though . So more research to be done. And test the air professionally ... not at depth.

Hi, can you tell me what you fill your filter with? I'm experimenting with the ratio of molecular sieve and activated carbon, in a 32cm filter, so far 70/30 is giving almost odorless air. I'm using Royal Purple fully synthetic oil. I use the air to deep clean my pool, average depth is 1.5m, max 2m. Done 2 hours so far with no ill effects, but I'd never use this air any deeper. I rent my gear when I go recreational diving because I live a very remote area of the Philippines and taking my own stuff is a nightmare.
did you ever get a test on your breathable air? these things diesel the oil in the compression chamber and actually have a lot of carbon monoxide in the air. how are u dealing with this?
There are a couple of factors that I found. All the oil will diesel if you over filll it. The ISO 100 hydrolic oil will start to diesel around the 5-6th run and its rams up quickly from 5ppm to 20ppm to 30ppm of CO, even if you keep it it cool aswell. The basic remedy is to get Seco Lube sythenthic oil or something similar, its expensive and does not create any carbon monoxidewith oxygen levels that stay constant at 20.1. The smell, when venting out water, is way better too, even the air smells the same at a scuba shop. My tests show low moisture, no dangerous ppm, no orders, and VOC was fine too. However you still have to keep the compressor cool below 55c which can be accomplished by pumping cold faucet water into the machine and out into the fasucet drain as the machine will stay at 45c and can lower down to 40c if you run a blower fan on it.
He never sent this to a lab. Have caution he deleted my comments saying this is unsafe and that he needed more filters to be sure

About how long did it take in total to fill the 80cf cylinder?
It took a few hours with stops to refill ice
If you get a chiller like cw5000 would it work continuously?
What type of oil are you using?

You should be using Triester oil , Diester is really not rated for breathing
Diester oil is for breathing air compressors and is non toxic
@@BringYourHelmet I have seen some Diester oils that say right on the label “not recommended for breathing air “Bauer compressors only recommend Triester oils
