    In this video we take a deep look into the throw of Dimitri Van den Bergh.
    A full throw analysis on what I believe to be one of the best darts throwing actions in the world.
    If you want to know how to play darts then watch is again and again.
    My channel is exclusive to darts only content. I create my content as I simply love to play darts and want to help other dart players improve with my own channel.
    All my video's are based on how to play darts as well as advise on equipment and general darts setup with the aim to guide any new players in their darting journey as well as provide more experienced or even professional dart players with dart content to help improve.

    What makes Dimitri's throw so special is the quick pullback before the swing of the throw.

    Dimitri is this dart player I like most to watch. So classy, so good. A real master in this what he do. Gary and Dimi are my idols that I look up to. Love it. Gary is a master of the old generation and Dimi hopefully will be it in the new generation of dart players. Cheers

    Really interesting this one because I use Dimi's darts and I've never seen exactly how he grips at the rear. Turns out he uses a lot of the smooth part, there's a break in the grip of that dart right where his thumb is. That's also how I've been gripping it and I wondered if I should have a custom set made that filled in the grip at that section, because overall they are the most consistent darts for me that I own. I assumed he was gripping slightly forward of the smooth part, but he seems to actually be right on it.

    Can you tell me a bit more about his stand. For example his left food, is it completely on the ground or only the front part? And is he standing straight or does he lean a bit to the front?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  Год назад

      He keeps the back foot flat whilst still transferring his weight to the front leg. The front leg is straight and he has a very slight lean in from the wast. :)

    What I'd really like help with is that I have zero clue what the dart throw actually is... Is it a controlled throw or is a sort of slinging action? I see the follow through and it looks explosive... Should you feel like you have any control over dart direction during the actual throw or just trust that you're aiming and lined up correctly and then whip it?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  2 года назад +2

      You should have control, do not sling the dart.
      The key is to accelerate throw either by implementing a small push down the line your throwing or by flicking though with the wrist at the point of release.

    • @jordy46682
      @jordy46682 2 года назад +1

      @@Straightdarts That's what's difficult, if I flick through with the wrist, I feel like the dart is being catapulted rather than "thrown". I've only been playing 3 weeks, so I'm still completely unsure about my stance and position to throw the dart from. But I've already had 4 180's and 3 100+ checkouts (although my doubles is generally terrible) and they've all come from completely different stances and throwing actions... Super frustrating 😫

      @@brendanjordan6780 I had a chance at a 14 darter yesterday... Took me 33 darts to bring it home! 😅🙈 I don't think MVG is exactly shaking in his boots that I'm going to beat him anytime this century... 😉

      @@jordy46682 it will take a lot of trial and error, everyone is different.

    • @jordy46682
      @jordy46682 2 года назад +1

      @@Straightdarts Indeed! I think it's follow through for me and elbow/forearm position. It's just frustrating scoring 140 and then 3 on the next throw... 😅 And then 21 and then 3 times 100... I'd rather just throw 60 relatively confidently because at least I would feel my technique is stable.

    I think the best techniques for no head movement at the point of release or follow through would be Van Barneveld, Taylor and Steve Davis (snooker) DvdB is close.
    I'd be prepared to bet that there is a direct correlation between the amount of head movement vs matches and even titles won. There's a reason why guys like Taylor, Barney, Davis and Hendry became winning machines
