The only downside to your insight (which is not your fault at all) is that about 5 months ago I purchased a 365 day plan from Amaysim which uses the Optus network, so that basically renders this phone unusable for me until I can switch in June 😅
@@jamiemartin9322Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer to discover after the fact. I was fortunate, as I was coming out of contract only a couple of months ago. I'm only paying month by month now, which is much better value.
For the physical keys registering multiple inputs when typing, have you tried TT9's built-in Accidental Key Repeat Protection feature? It can be found under TT9 Settings > Keypad.
@@de_soot Update. I've just enabled the 350 ms option and can confirm that it appears to be helping with the matter. The only side effect is that it requires me to slow down my input somewhat. Perhaps it would help if TT9 was updated in the future to offer an even faster option? Say 500 or 750 ms? For now though, yes, I have just typed this entire response without any accidental key repeats. Thank you!
@@McKeeToHappiness No problem! Another thing: if the maximum delay of 350ms is too slow, you might want to try to see if a lower setting like 250ms will work. The lower you can get it (20ms is the minimum) while still not getting any key repeat issues, the less noticeable the delay will be; and the faster you can press the same key and not have its input ignored by the Accidental Key Repeat Protection. Hope this helps!
@de_soot Yep. A total brain fast on my end. I was thinking around the wrong way. I've now found a sweet spot at 50 ms, which allows me to type at full speed with no errors. You're a star for pointing this out. You've just corrected the only issue I had with this phone. Thank you so much.
Hi! Great reviews!! Got mine last Monday. Fantastic phone, though a bit delicate! Problem: the Japanese store did not set the phone to english before shipping it to Perth. Everything was in Japanese!! I had to boot it up via a Japanese person, in systems, languages. Telstra volte works fine. My sim card is not recognised in my contacts. Can't seem to import them to the device. Can you give some advice please? Have done a system upgrade. Have you encountered problems in terms of Japanese language? Do I need to reset the phone? How? Regards, Jeannine
Hello and thank you for your generous feedback. I'm happy to hear that you've obtained your own Retro II. It is unfortunate though that you are experiencing some language troubles. Whilst my phone did arrive already set to English, I am admittedly fortunate to have a Japanese wife who can bail me out of trouble if language was an issue. That said, if your previous phone was a smart phone and you still have it available, I would recommend using it to help translate any menus that you might be struggling to navigate. The Google translation app should achieve this for you quite easily. You can use the phone's camera to translate your Retro II in real time. I unfortunately can't offer any advice for the SIM contacts issue though. I hope that I was able to help somewhat. Thank you

@@saadqayyum4739 Generally speaking, for a typical day of unregulated use, I can comfortably get through the day without any dramas. I'm probably not using the phone as much as some others might be, but that's kind of the entire point of owning this phone.
I didn't mention it in the video, but for anyone who might have been wondering, yes, the F22 Pro did work fine under the Optus network. For reasons that I still don't understand, it was just the Retro II that was being fussy. In the end though, everything worked out for the best. As I was at the end of my contract, Optus was going to put my prices up going forward, so not only am I happy with my new phone and the service it runs, but I'm doing it at a cost of about a third of what I would have been paying with Optus. Good riddance, I say 🎉
You’ve convinced me to get it mate. I live in Melbourne and also with Telstra right now and it’s a relief hearing you had no service problems

Does the banking card like NFC work and goes Google map work ? Thanks
@@AlexAubert-e2x Hello. GPS works perfectly. I don't use any phone payments, so I can't comment on that, sorry.
does the phone still work on telstra in 2025? i own one but need to switch over to telstra since optus obviously doesn't work on it 😭
I'm on Woolworths mobile, which operates on the Telstra network. It works perfectly.

Will it work properly in Mexico?
Thank you for your comment. You will have to check what bands your specific service provider offers and compare this against the Mode1's bands. Thanks
What’s the battery like, what do you do on your phone e.g watch 2 hours of RUclips and scroll on instagram etc…
