I’ve put ~1000 rounds between my 2 Lancer 5.56 mags. 0 issues. Used to have constant double feeds, about 1-2 every 100 rounds, when using the gen 2 P-mags so I switched, and haven’t had a malfunction since I switched. I highly recommend the magazines, those metal feed lips are golden

Out of curiosity, I purchased one of the clear smoke colored mags early last year. It's been through two classes, alongside the windowed pmags that came with my rifle. Besides normal dings and scrapes to the body, it's functioned normally and didn't experience the issues you encountered. It's been dropped on concrete floors from an indoor range and dusty/sandy ground on outdoor range. I've purchased two more since then and they've been running just as good.

You do know a certain range of Lancers were recalled due to the sticking follower, don't you? It was all over the web and on their website. They will replace them. Sometimes it's better to check with the manufacturer when you having a problem before you make a slam video. That's the profesunal thing to do...

You make a video about the failure of a magazine that the manufacturer has already sent a recall out about. Instead on contacting them and getting yours replaced, you run to the internet and claim said magazines will get you killed...!! Most in the AR world regard Lancers as very high quality mags. Yes, they did have one batch get out with tight followers but quickly remedied the situation and sent out recall notices. All your video does is make you look like tacticool nutjob. I do know how to spell professional. The misspelling was in reference to the BATFE Officer who said he was the only one profesunal enuf in the room to carry a Glock fotay and then shot himself in the leg. Basically the same thing you did with this video.

    • @Adamorevo

+M4RIN31 I have not seen Lancers with anti tilt separate from the rest of the follower. If he states Lancers will get you killed, some will assume all Lancers. If he was informed and stated the recalled magazines will get you killed, he would be correct. The problem occurs when videos show Lancers being dropped fully loaded onto concrete with and without rifle, then this guy says dropped on carpet. Something must be explained for such extreme differences. On one side of the extreme you have repeated video proof on the other side you have carpet without proof. Why listen to this guy for information when he does not research himself. You can say well its just his experience and opinion. To that I will say, well lets listen to those with better experience and informed opinions.

I bought three around june 2016 and all have ran flawlessly. took them to a small local match and kicked the empty ones out of my way several times, in fine grain cali dirt, and had zero problems the whole day.
    edit to add:
October. one mag has a "sticky" follower IF its fingered down and slightly tilted, BUT no failures to feed in actual use. they still have not been cleaned and wont be unless I notice a real problem.

it's true... i bought 2 on recommendation from a friend of mine tubers like nutnfancy; but on the second round it jammed, un jammed it got a round in battery and klank... happened again, this time a double feed... i had to yank the mag out to clear it as the second round was vertically still in the mag and lodged behind the first round that got jammed at the breach... i maintain my ARs meticulously... ive ran 600 rounds in my sig m400 since i bought it in May of this year with magpul pmags without a single jam or failure of any sort... i picked these up cause of the recommendations and cause i wanted a clear mag to help keep track of how many rounds are left since i typically go with my son and we'll trade off every 10 rounds or so and it's just easier if you can see through the mag... im stickin with my pmags...

Wow. I keep magazines about 2/3 full including the L5AWM lancers, I went right upstairs grabbed one, pushed the rounds down and sure enough.....it stuck! To be fair, the 30 rounder stuck the first try and about every other try. The 20 round magazines worked fine, couldn't get them to stick. The 20s had Fiocchi 50 grain V max in them, the 30s had some hollow points I picked up a few years ago when I would buy whatever I could find. Would have to go through my log books to see which ones. i use Lancer L5 AWM transluscent 20-rd and 30-rd mags and have never had problems. they seem quite well made and tough.smooth feeding too, BUT, if you slow charge your rifle the top round will pop out of the feed lips and lay uncontrolled in the breach area. it will still chamber just fine but that could be a problem in certain situations.
just DONT SLOW CHARGE YOUR RIFLE!. snatch the charging handle to the rear and let it go flying forward under full spring power like your suposed to.
you wont have problems if you operate the rifle properly.
as far as broken mags from drops i can only say ive never had a failure from my Lancers or other mags after a few drops to include full 30-rounders on asphalt. but thats something that can just happen to ANY mag.
the Lancer 10-rd mags however, do have a problem as of Jan,2018 anyway.
the 10-rd mags cant latch into the magwell with 10 rds loaded if the bolt is closed in battery. the mag is too short to hold 10 rds and depress that extra 1/16" or so to latch with the bolt closed. they work fine with 9 rds loaded or with the bolt locked open like if you just emptied a mag.
yeah thats a boneheaded move on Lancers part. they could have made the mags 1/4" longer with no problems. its not like it HAD to be as short as possible.
maybe theyll reengineer them but for now id go Magpul for 10-rd mags.

polymer feed lips? I know lancer uses metal feed lips in their mags. lancer did a recall on these mags and has since resolved their issues with this product, I can't condemn a company for a mistake they owned and fixed long before the consumers even took notice, plus lancer is the mag of choice for many sf and seal team operators as well as LEOs all over the country. But I hear you, if you're having good results with pmags why fix something if it ain't broken right?

I happen to have a psoitive experience with the Lancers.
PS: Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for that video. I just watched a few vids on the Lancer mag and ordered 2 from Midway USA. Glad I watched your video before the order was processed and I was able to cancel the order. I will stick with Magpul or my trusty GI mags.

lancer has recalled and replaced the problem mags. it was a manufactures problem with a particular manufacturing run, those magazines have been recalled from the retailers so if u order lancer mags the retailer shouldn't be sending you the problem mags as they would have none in stock as they were recalled and replaced. As long as u r not getting the production run done march 2015 if I'm not mistaken you should have no problems with lancer mags, they shouldn't "get you killed"

Carlos Matute Not concerned about them getting me killed, as my M4 lives with a Magpul stuffed into it. I just don't like hearing about problems like this. Therefore I will stay away from that product.

After reading many of the various reviews, comments and experiences here regarding these mags, my question is: Did YOU ever contact Lancer and discuss your issues with them regarding the performance of their product? If not, and since you do not state that you did, you are really yelling "Fire" just because you encountered a lit match. Please update your video if you ever do get any feedback from Lancer regarding these mags.

I haven't had any issues with Lancer L 5&7's. HEXMAGS are a different story, I bought a dozen last year, the rounds were loose and the follower stuck. No problems with PMAGS or USGI so far, although its obvious if you dent the body of a USGI mag the follower wont go below that point. If you dent it while the follower is down with a fully loaded mag, its garbage unless you use a slap hammer from a body shop and remove the dent.

I've dropped several Lancer mags and have never had any problems. I use Lancer exclusively, because the lips of magpul warp and have had several failures to feed with magpul. Lancer magazines are far superior than the magpul crap. I also know of police departments that use lancer, so good luck with your rant.

I just got some of these the L5 AWM's and the problem I am having is that they are just too tightly fitted to my mag wells. I don't imagine there is enough difference in tolerances from one lower to another for it to make a difference but when I try to eject the mag empty they will not fall free. I have to pull them out and it takes a firm pull to get them out. I am told these are not as thick (outer dimensions) as the Magpul P-mags. I have been using GI mags for years with zero issues. These Lancers are said to be closer to the outer dimensions of those mags. and I thought that would be nice for how they would fit in my pouches, but I never thought the mag well would be an issue. Anyone else experience this?

RETENTION!!! Stop throwing your mags on the grownd. even the best built mags will eventually break when you keep throwing them on the ground. plus if a major event happens and you have all sorts of ammo but you keep thowing your mags on the ground and get driven out of the area your not going to habe mags for your extra ammo

    • @Tactisloth
      @Tactisloth 5 лет назад +2

And if you stop to retain that empty mag instead of loading a fresh one right away, you won't have a chance to load extra ammo

You guys are both right...depending on the situation.
Don't be slaves to a certain instructor or "tactical theory" and apply a single action to every single situation you encounter, your squishy think blob doesn't just keep your ears from touching, it can help you bring in information and make behavioral adjustments to the world around you. Retain your mags...don't retain your mags...let the situation decide.

Ive had the same experience, stored loaded and desert sand got in and it causes me ftf with guns that don't get ftf's. my mags are new within the last two years as well. I've treated my pmags and sure feeds the same and they never get gritty and unpredictable like the lancers.

Bro, you got yours from China. You need to get the one made in the USA. All my works like a Champ. Drop them, ran over with my car, throw them 40-50 yards, put them in water and mud, even set it on fire. Still works like brand new right out of the box. Getting rid of all my magpul and switching to Lancer mag.

To date i have not had any problems what so ever. I have used them in SWAT training etc etc with no failures. Granted ANY MAGAZINE will fail if feed lips are bent or broken, same goes for followers. Anything made by man can be broken so with that in mind i take care of my stuff so when i go hard they work and replace what does not. Not all of my mags are Lancer & with just 3 of them out of 30 i am good either way.

I never had the chance to use neither the Magpul nor the Lancer, they didn't exist when I served in the army, but I remember the US GI mags, some Israeli aluminum mags, some brazilian mags and some Taiwanese steel mags that I used while on patrol in tropical/jungle conditions and all of them suffered the same problems. The israeli and taiwanese were specially high quality, while the others were surplus mags that we tried to avoid, but the humidity, dirt, lack of cleaning and other factors didn't help much. I think it has something to do with the climate. I don't know, it's just my opinion.

We've been using them in SF for years, no issues. He shoots like Costa, which means he's never been in combat and is full of shit. Maybe he was in Coast Guard Special Ops too... I love when a fat guy who has never been in combat makes videos like this, telling those of us who have actually been downrange for years, what will and will not get you killed. FYI, I used them at Range 19 as well.

If you trust ALL in one weapon, you are going the wrong path... Primary weapon fails, go with secondary, if that fails?, use a 3rd, if that fails, use your knife, if that fails?, MMA/Survival instincts, if that fails? You should have carried a Glock for your Primary, 2nd and 3rd weapon because your primary weapon will never fail you LMAO.
I appreciate the review though, I believe it was a bit harsh if the company have not tried to correct the issue before your youtube review? That’s what we gun enthusiasts do, we use and abuse the equipment and if it fails let the company know so they could improve their product. I’m sure Lancer does not have any issue taking the mags and refunding your money or replacing the defective mags... but keep up the great job on the reviews, I subbed and liked!

If Lancer mags don't, that bullet button will. Check out JTactical's Hellfighter Mod Kit...
Oh, and modify or get mags that don't hold the bolt back when bolt catch is removed.
