You could give Reed Timmer some *serious* lessons on how to cope with seeing a tornado. Utterly amazing how the sky goes from a somewhat gray, stormy sky to inky black in just ten minutes.
Many years ago, a tornado came toward Dallas and approached my apartment building. I thought it would be safer in the concrete parking structure, so I went out and sat in the car. It passed very nearby and the wind was screaming through from left to right. After it passed, the wind was right to left. Still can't explain that. It took out the corner of my building.
Think about it - tornado is drawing air toward it from all directions, so the wind direction at any given location is going to be in relation to the location of the funnel. In other words, ahead of the tornado winds will be going one way and behind the tornado they go the other way. The wind blows toward the funnel.

I uploaded a video of riding around after.. also had 200 year old oaks uprooted the morning before from what they said was straightline winds. In 24 hours we had alot of massive damage and weather
Interestingly, a police office parked by the Coosa River took a similar, long video of the approach of this tornado. I find these two long, slow approach videos just as fascinating as the dramatic closeup videos.
Wow, even over all the hail and rain falling you can clearly hear the roar of that monster as it gets closer. I love videos like this that are not from storm chasers but people who are staring down a force that could potentially take their home or life. Great courage was shown here and it was a joy not to hear a thousand OMG's or the other typical nonsense that usually comes when people are in an intense life threatening situation. Great video no doubt! Glad you were safe.....
9 twisters came out of this. And in beginning before you could tell what I was recording there were 3 that formed one. I am going to try to find the original footage to upload it in full resolution since RUclips allows it now.
In the description "Massive 1.8 mile wide tornado in Webster Chapel Alabama, New Liberty Alabama heading right towards us until a size twister moves it away." Wait......what????? What does that mean? First off, what is a "size twister"? And what do you mean another twister moved the larger one away from you? I'm not sure it works that way. Not to mention that the thing from what I could tell was taking a constant right to left trajectory and didn't appear to be coming towards y'all at any point.
Most of the comment sections on RUclips are teeming with the ignorant, uninformed, credulous and uncritical. As such, I am extremely gratified to see a fellow sentient being capable of constructive analysis. Your points are meritorious and I too felt compelled to reply and adumbrate the several rather inexplicable and unpardonable factual errors which were subsumed within the erroneous description above. Either the person posting this video was making a deliberate effort to sensationalize and embellish their content, which is both unnecessary and disingenuous or, they are so intellectually lazy that they just threw some random facts out there just for shits and gigs, assuming nobody here or very few of us anyways, would know better or care. Thank you for doing your due diligence and clarifying for those uncritical minds I referenced above and nice riposte to the moronic comment of Catherine Wyestael.

I think she actually believed what she typed for the description, and also misspelled side with size, and she obviously has no idea how the "mechanics" of a tornado work. You said that you were going to explain about the proper way tornados form and behave, but all you did was insult the people with your big word babble and not explain anything! I've studied meteorology for 25 years and I can tell when someone is uneducated in this kind of thing and you thought she was just trying to get likes. Why don't you explain how it works, like you said you would before trailing off into verbal diarrhea, and not even finish explaining the reason why you were actually posting! Let's see if you really are as smart as you are advertising yourself to be. or are you sensationalizing that as well, the way you think she did with her description of the video? Coz you got pissed at her for suspecting her of that, but its ok for you to lie and sensationalize your intellect when its all bullocks?!?! You must be an American!
@@AngelWhisper_7 I believe that I can reasonably infer from your pompous attitude of conceit towards Americans, the time stamp associated with your post, as well as your familiarity with and use of the term bullocks, that you come from a Commonwealth country. I would further venture to say that you're likely from the UK as it is now often times the case, particularly since the Trump presidency, that the historical predilections towards fraternity and camaraderie, born out of our common language and heritage have receded in favor of an attitude of haughty condescension which seems to presuppose that merely by virtue of being British, you acquire some intrinsic cultural superiority vis-à-vis those across the pond. It seems to me that there is nothing more contemptable or indeed, no greater exercise in pomposity, and self-deluded grandeur than to denigrate others on the basis of what is essentially a birth right. You're probably from Staines on account of both the crudeness of your thought process as well as the inelegance of your prose. Now as to the substance of your imbecilic contrivance of a comment. While you may not like what I asserted above, it happens to have the merit of being true. There were many erroneous factual representations made by the person who originally posted this. That is an incontrovertible fact and it did seem to me that those errors were of such a conspicuous and self-evident quality that they suggested a lack of diligence or negligence on behalf of the uploader who ought to have made some minimal effort to factually corroborate that which she was disseminating to the public. None of what you say thereafter is even responsive to my comments above. I'm not sure what you are referring to what you reference the mechanics of a tornado, as I say nothing about such mechanisms in the comment you replied to. You likewise seem to be confused about my motives and purpose. How is it that you can contrive to discern that I am "advertising" myself to be smart? All I have done thus far, in this particular thread, is express agreement with the initial comment above that there were indeed considerable factual discrepancies in the description offered above. If you really had taken exception to the substance of what I stated you wouldn't have been so incensed by the manner in which I choose to articulate my thoughts. Clearly you are attacking the form of expression and not so much the underlying sentiment. The fact that you didn't even deign to respond to the gentleman who initially made the same observations which I merely agreed with seems to be rather strong proof of this. Finally, how is that you think you can reasonably posit that I am an American on the basis of what I've stated? Are you going to now try to convince me that whatever contemptable qualities you ascribe to me are representative of an entire class of people living in the US? How presumptuous of you to make such an irrational conclusion without any evidentiary basis at all. I await what I’m certain will be another semi-coherent rant replete with vitriolic vituperations and all manner of slanderous insinuations.
Impressive video, but this part of the description is incomprehensible: "heading right towards us until a size twister moves it away." I think you're referring to the sideways vortice? what some don't know is that the super tornado outbreak of 2011 was deadlier and tornadoes did a lot more destruction than the first super outbreak back in 1974.
@TJ89741 Exactly. The substantial amount of 'urban sprawl' between 1974 and 2011 made it much more likely that long-track violent tornadoes in 2011 would hit areas of high population density. I recall a person interested in comparing the two super-outbreaks superimposed the April 3/4 tornado tracks on a 2011 map of the U.S.A., and noted that a larger number of tornadoes in the 1974 super outbreak would have hit population centres & those that did would have caused more destruction in the towns/cities they hit. So, it is quite possible that the April 3/4 super outbreak would have been deadlier than the April 2011 super outbreak if they had occurred at the same time.
Omg! That sucker appears to be spinning in place! Can you imagine the damage it's doing over there? And, it's multi-vortex, too. Oh my gosh! MONSTER! I hope all your loved ones, survived, including their animals. (HAHA! I've commented twice, and didn't know it. First, from seven years, I suppose; and today, 5-01-21. This monster was just, as scary the second time, as it was the first 😳!)
Why do people constantly make shit up with tornado videos on here? Not an EF5, not 1.8 miles wide, definitely wasn’t anywhere near Alabama or the Carolina’s. Good grief.
This is the rainsville tornado right? Never seen this video before if so this an the smithville tornado were the strongest of this outbreak in 2011 hacklesburg was third followed by a close Tuscaloosa monster still one mean looking sob ultra violent tornado
Hackleburg was the single most powerful tornado of the day. Smithville maybe had bursts of explosive power that superseded it momentarily and caused incredible damage, but the Hackleburg storm travelled 132miles with 50miles of uninterrupted EF5 damage... it's probably the most powerful storm for 100years...
No, one of the side twisters I mentioned caused it to turn, thankfully. It would have hit us and was 1/4-1/2 mile away. We can still see the path across the field o. The mountain. . I went out the back door and tried to film more but felt the temperature shift and a swirl pick up and wasn't pressing my luck. We immediately left out on search and rescue and was up for over a week with almost no sleep, pure adrenaline trying to dig friends and family out. We we're blocked in, in every direction within about a mile of us. Literally oaks twice the width of my Grand Cherokee were across the roads. Everyone was on foot and fire and rescue couldn't get to the ones stranded. We are in a valley and mountains on all sides of us. Luckily only 9 people were killed in our Community but close to 200 were killed throughout Alabama during this one.
So you’re standing east of the highway, right? This is what hit Mamre and continued south west of silver lakes? I think this is the one that hit right beside our house, if so. We were very grateful when it was all over, no loss of life on our property.
I felt like the government looking at the reflection in the window to see what they're doing..... most of us have cell phone so the government already knows what you're doing
1. This is the Shoal Creek/Ohatchee tornado which was an EF-4, not an EF-5 as you erroneously state 2. The tornado travelled approximately 100 miles from just SE of Clay, AL to North of Lake Creek, GA and neither began in Mississippi or reached its terminus in either North or South Carolina as you suggest 3. The tornado was 1760 yards wide (1 mile) according to the relevant data on the NOAA webpage for the survey completed for this storm, again, substantially less than the 1.8 mile width which you claim above 4. I assume you mean a side twister, also known as horizontal vortices, and not a "size twister" which is not a phrase in use in the vernacular of meteorological phenomena 5. Notwithstanding the many considerable factual errors which seem to be too conspicuous for any sapient person not to observe and remark upon in an effort to correct them (hence this post), you did an exceptional job at recording this storm and I commend you for uploading this to RUclips.

@@andrewtm85Resorting to the ad hominem attack is incontrovertible evidence of both the lack of substantive points which you can adduce as a riposte to my own well articulated critique as well as being indicative of an intellectually lazy and weak mind. Anyone who looks into these videos for hobbies or for research purposes will have already looked up the info for the tornado and will see the good intent behind info that may be wrong. The storm system did carry into the Carolina's. Depending on which source that is looked up, the information for the width could range from 1760 yards (1 mile) to 2600 yards (1.4 miles).

@@joevgirl beautiful place but totally understand
Wow, that had to be scary. Like how dude said "they confirmed tornado", and lady says" ya right here." It got serious fast. Great footage and video
You know a tornado is violent when you see horizontal funnels sticking out from the main tornado. Glad it missed y'all home.
What a awesome chick!! I wish my wife loved severe weather even a third as much as this cool lady!! Get em girl! Nice video.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone give a tornado a gender!! 😂😂. Great footage!!!
It's funny I always refer to them as female.
I've heard it many times

Wow, even over all the hail and rain falling you can clearly hear the roar of that monster as it gets closer. I love videos like this that are not from storm chasers but people who are staring down a force that could potentially take their home or life. Great courage was shown here and it was a joy not to hear a thousand OMG's or the other typical nonsense that usually comes when people are in an intense life threatening situation. Great video no doubt! Glad you were safe.....
Great video. Thanks.
I could tell that tornado was violent it had horizontal vortices.
9 twisters came out of this. And in beginning before you could tell what I was recording there were 3 that formed one. I am going to try to find the original footage to upload it in full resolution since RUclips allows it now.
Usually its EF4+ with those
Aren’t you supposed to be away from the mirror door during lightning storm?
Holy hell it's coming straight at you!!!
Yes it was. I was so thankful it turned.
Was this the same Hackleburg/Phil Campbell EF5? What a monster.
They stopped using the F scale in 2007. In the description it would need to be EF 5

@@jeffputz1853 Ok Mr "I'm going to use some words that most people dont use in everyday life and make it seem like I'm so articulate and educated to the highest levels possible, meanwhile I'm just your regular run of the mill egotistical idiot" All I see is an arrogant ass who is just bullying the poster of the video and other people who commented.
Impressive video, but this part of the description is incomprehensible: "heading right towards us until a size twister moves it away."
I think you're referring to the sideways vortice? That didn't have any bearing on the direction of the parent tornado, nor did it appear to ever change direction from what I could detect.
dear w bonner first off sad for yall losses in alabama my condolences in huge tornadoes like this one move right to left yall were safe however if it looks like its not moveing it may mean its comeing right at you vortexa has a video of the golden spur mobile park video you can see the little funnels inside the big one comeing right at him tornadoes often come from the sw and go ne but they can go anny damn direction they want looool lightning hail and high winds can kill too not just tornadic winds streightline winds can go to 100 mph or moore hail can reach softball size debris from tornadoes can kill too theyve found stuff 200 miles away from tornadoes weird as hell loool yall stay safe head storm warnings it may save youre life scincerely david marshall
At 9:36, you can see a horizontal vortex at the top of the funnel. I definite sign this tornado was producing EF-4+ wind gusts in there.
Made a thumbs up to almost all Comments. Then I ran out of comments to acknowledge. Great Going
Those storms, without the tornados, were the most violent savage things I’ve ever experienced.

She has more balls than most people do
So, I live in Moore Oklahoma and I just learned something new about tornado. This one was a she, so they’re dual gender like humans. She was moving pretty slow, probably why she was able to reach a EF4 rating.
what some don't know is that the super tornado outbreak of 2011 was deadlier and tornadoes did a lot more destruction than the first super outbreak back in 1974.
Thank goodness the tornado was not coming toward you all.
Fang Lightning and Thunder. Too called' mostly cloudy. A tornado is outage powers
I hope you all were alright! God Bless
Why do people constantly make shit up with tornado videos on here? Not an EF5, not 1.8 miles wide, definitely wasn’t anywhere near Alabama or the Carolina’s. Good grief.
Is this the Rainsville tornado?
Incredible video, thank you!
It's actually the Shoal Creek F4 with 180 Mph winds
Impressive how cool as a cucumber they were. They should be chasers.
I would love to be and thank you
Great video but…… it was definitely a boy! Lol awesome footage!
Where is New Liberty?
Jacksonville, al
Southeast of Gadsden, AL
I wish we could've watched it longer. Did it hit your house?
@@joevgirl great video footage of this monster thanks for sharing.

Been watching video after video of this tornado - starting before Hackleburg- and not one tornado siren.
After watching a couple of videos from this lady. Seems that she might have some sort of mind control powers when it comes to Mother Nature.
That was one fucked up day.
1. This is the Shoal Creek/Ohatchee tornado which was an EF-4, not an EF-5 as you erroneously state
2. The tornado travelled approximately 100 miles from just SE of Clay, AL to North of Lake Creek, GA and neither began in Mississippi or reached its terminus in either North or South Carolina as you suggest
3. The tornado was 1760 yards wide (1 mile) according to the relevant data on the NOAA webpage for the survey completed for this storm, again, substantially less than the 1.8 mile width which you claim above
4. I assume you mean a side twister, also known as horizontal vortices, and not a "size twister" which is not a phrase in use in the vernacular of meteorological phenomena
5. Notwithstanding the many considerable factual errors which seem to be too conspicuous for any sapient person not to observe and remark upon in an effort to correct them (hence this post), you did an exceptional job at recording this storm and I commend you for uploading this to RUclips.
You want a cookie or something? Did it hurt your feelings bc the person happened to be wrong with the information?
It’s one thing to state the actual facts but stating them in the way you did, towards the filmer , makes you seem like an arrogant “Putz”.
@@andrewtm85Resorting to the ad hominem attack is incontrovertible evidence of both the lack of substantive points which you can adduce as a riposte to my own well articulated critique as well as being indicative of an intellectually lazy and weak mind. It didn't "hurt my feelings" as you ignorantly insinuate and had you actually bothered to carefully and completely read the entirety of what I had written I clearly make the point that I am interested in correcting misinformation for the benefit of individuals such as myself who prefer an accurate and consistent adumbrating of the facts as opposed to a highly misleading and facially erroneous description, such as it was originally written. Please do illuminate for me the evidence which you can cite to substantiate your claim that the manner in which I articulated the actual underlying facts was either "arrogant" or befitting someone who happens to have my last name? Thus far I am astounded by your own ignorance, impetuosity and rather imbecile attempt to engage with someone who has thus far only been culpable for having made a good faith effort to clarify and improve upon the highly deficient information above.
