Great itemized breakdown of the costs associated with living in Jersey! It's amazing how far your dollar gets you in different parts of the US, so I find these videos tremendously helpful. Thanks for sharing, I just subscribed, keep up the good work!!
NJ is good if you're upper-middle-class or wealthy. Everybody else has a rough time looking for affordable housing. I left the state two years ago after not being able to find a safe place I could afford and I make $60K a year. Every apartment in decent areas I could afford had a long waiting list.
It's what happens when "progressive" ideology take hold. You get the rich, those that serve them and hardly no one in between. California is a prime example. NJ is heading that way. I left two years ago and don't even want to return to visit. It's a dump.
In Hoboken NJ you will not get away with rent for less than 3k a month and that's for an apt the size of a walking closet. My friend has to split a studio Apt with a friend in Jersey City NJ for $1,800 bucks a month just to get by. NJ is not a bad state if you wanna live in a state where you work like an animal but you can enjoy your weekends off with unique things to do because there is always something to do in NJ.
Better schools ? I hear this all the time. Sure, if you can afford the property taxes in places like Basking Ridge, Summit, Chatham, etc, etc. Tell people living in Perth Amboy and more blue collar places like that how great the schools are.
@@danhansell2799 I agree with you and is not an education or health system that is equal in quality across the state. Belleville is $15,000 in taxes and is not the best system.
Correction: This state HAS killed the middle class. There is no middle in NJ anymore. It's now wealthy people and people who struggle every day to get by. NJ is probably the most corrupt state in Union. Starting with Trenton, flowing down into the county governments, but you'll find the most corruption in the Podunk towns. NJ doesn't lack for Podunk towns either...565 incorporated municipalities, many of them 1 square mile or less. NJ has more incorporated municipalities than the state of California which has 20 times the land area, and 6 times the population. The primary purpose of these municipalities is to provide 'employment' for someone's relatives or political friends. 20 man police departments where the cops...mostly morons...are paid $200K+ per year. Hundreds of school districts, some with only 1 school, each with its own superintendent making $250K per year. It's the reason that NJ has the highest average property taxes of any state. I live in a house built in 1927, on a lot that's 50'X100'. Three bedrooms and 1 bath. My property taxes are $10K. If we had not purchased this house years ago, and paid off the mortage, we would not be able to live in NJ now.
@@MrSloika the state is a nightmare. I feel awful for the high school kids in NJ today. If you’re single and unable to find love and have only one income, forget about having any chance of having a decent life unless you want to live in a box or feel forced to have a roommate with no privacy. So many adults are stuck living with their parents into their 20s or even 30s because they have loans to pay back and places to live are so unreasonably expensive which is so damaging to one’s self esteem and mental health. It has become horrific.
my grandma makes like 50-60,000 a year and shes been working 30 years in florida, combined with my grandpa who is a retired navy seal. do you think we could afford a 4 bedroom house with me, them and my mom in new jersey?
hi! I suggest that you take a look at apartments.com. This will give you a good search criteria and a good bird's eye view of the rentals market in these areas.
Yes! With the financial assistance of COVID 19, which the government gave and is giving to the people, the people do not want to work, there are hiring signs everywhere.
I love how people always start off by saying, what do you get for your taxes? Well, you're in close Proximity to NYC and Philly. NYC and Philly are terrible places. NYC and PA have their own government taxes. What do us New Jersians get for OUR taxes? 1 Big Headache!
Regarding New York City that is a horrible place let me tell you that is depends where you live and the environment. Do you can afford to live in Manhattan.? Also in Manhattan’s there places who buildings are good condition and other luxury both expensive as a whole Manhattan is for upper middle class and millionaires. Regular middle class is dangerous species only the poorest in government housing and the working class decent income in buildings who had to wait for years in a waiting list. Run 🏃🏽♂️
Belleville, NJ $15,0000 in property taxes, i2 family home but, you can't expect your tenants to cover all the taxes expenses for the landlord with the rent revenue is just not ethical. Also, all you smell is marijuana on the streets. Very sad.
looks so beautiful. you should show part of Newar, Paterson, Candem. Crime is very high, lots of abandoned buildings and in general, New Jersey is pathetically expensive to live. FOr example, in South Carolina you can rent a two bedroom apartment for $520.00 in a aceptable neighborhood. In New Jersy you can harly find a room for $600. PATHETIC

Benjamin Franklin said 250 or so years ago that nj was a keg tapped at both ends.

To be fair, NJ compared to other states, have better school & healthcare systems in the US. But of course, quality comes with a price.

Normally yes it's pretty easy in retail and restaurant jobs but because of the pandemic obviously getting a job is much more difficult

Yes, and on campuses as a student worker.

In NJ it all depends where you live: proximity to Philly and NYC, shores, north, vs central vs south :)
