The 2 cons you mentioned about the instability of the machine & the vertical moment arm can both be simultaneously fixed by just resting the plates on a low stool to create a more horizontal lever arm at the start of the range of motion. This hack also decreases the need for so much weight. You're welcome. 😊
@Ryan Treadaway: Use the block pin and hang a little weight disc onto it which prevents the lever from going to the 0° hanging position. This changes the whole resistance curve ... and you do not need a "fancier" machine. Just found this hint on RUclips today ... It's a "GameChanger" ! :D
Hey Ryan love the channel! Quick tip what you should try is adding resistance bands or connecting it to your diy pulley system it’ll works wonders. If you decide to go with the bands Connect them to something that’s solid and won’t move which will help you get resistance of the start and a stronger resistance at the top.
This helps in a way, but also exacerbates the original problem. It adds resistance at the top with much less resistance at the bottom. And thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying the channel, Oliver!
Excellent review, thank you. I just purchased one and put it together, yesterday. It is very well constructed. Great advice to remove that pin! I also use some white paint to mark my preferred holes for Extension versus Curl. Regarding the ROM/Gravity issue, I find I get the best pump using lower weight and more reps (20-30).
Thanks for mentioning the instability of this machine. Ive seen so many reviews and no one seems to mention any of this. Home gym equipment has to be safe and details like this are very important to me considering id likely be lifting at home and by myself. I know Body Solid has a version of this machine that appears to have a larger footprint, possibly for the reasons you mentioned.
Just weld a cable cam too it like I did so you can clip it to your cables off your functional trainer so you have constant tension and you can you the weight stacks
Been looking to buy this for a while, from what I've seen some people do to fix the leg extension ROM issue is swing the weight plate forward, then pop the pin. This allows to have tension throughout.
That's what I was trying to describe when I talked about adjusting it so that the weight arm didn't hang straight down. That does help but doesn't completely fix it. Even with that drawback, I'm still very pleased with my purchase and would do it over again.
I bought a used valor fitness leg curl extenstion for $160, msrp $425. I haven't had the problems of no resistance at start of motion like others said with the Titan fitness version. The valor fitness is cheaper and better tension of movement than the Titan fitness.
Great review I believe we will get it for our rehab facility! We generally do single leg work and we won't be maxing it out on single leg! Should be great
Curious if you tried that 35lb plate hack to allow the full range of motion? I have a bells of steel far cheaper rack mounted leg curl/extension but want a stand alone model but before I get it want to be able to have a more full range of motion. Search for garage gym hacks and on his channel 35lb in title will find video. I'm thinking about placing this so that for leg curls I can also attach band/cable from Athena.
I've spoken with him about it. I believe it works well. I actually ended up trading this machine for the Titan Ronin because my parents got a good deal on a selectorized leg ext/curl machine.
You are missing out on a little bit of results by not having full range of motion. You'll have this issue with basically all plate loaded leg ext/curl machines though. If you have a cable machine, you can fix this by hooking this machine to a cable.
@@RyanTreadaway oh I get it man . Just found your channel today and sub to you . I love heating peoples opinions on equipment, especially being a gym owner

@@RyanTreadaway You put your shins on the seated pad and you strap a weight belt around your calf’s and the seat. I’m also 5’6 and I own the cheap $90 Snooze version of this I bought like 5-6 years ago.
Perfect size for home use, the missing piece for me. I canceled my Hoboken Crunch membership $90 bucks a month that's crazy. I financed the machine for $40 bucks a month. Save my self lots of money and I got a leg extension and leg curl 2 for 1.
Nah, friend. Lol with the exception of a few spots, I have hardly any separation at all between any mats. So to me, it's not worth the time or the money.
I definitely wouldn't say that. There's no guarantee a v3 will ever come. Really, the only big downside is the quick release pin but you can just leave it out permanently and that solves the problem.
That's not an option for many people. If you're renting, plan to sell the house, or generally just don't want to put holes in your concrete, bolting isn't the automatic solution.
@@briandaniel931 the point I was making is there's no reason for the base of the machine to not extend to the end of the weight sleeve. They obviously understand there's a large percentage of people who don't plan to bolt it down or else they wouldn't have put the weight horn on the base.
Great review. It's on sale for 519 currently. But my friend, my dear friend. Get a tan. The skin you're dwelling in has no melanin. You're glowing the whole video.
Will you be picking up the Titan Fitness Leg Extension Leg Curl v2?

I like this idea. I like it a lot. Thanks for this. 💪
Could you elaborate on what you mean? Do you have a pic of your solution?
@@bocephus33 Another option is to put a 35# plate on the removable pin so the loaded arm rests on the plate instead of the pin
A picture of this would help. I like the recommendation
I’m unclear
Being able to adjust the back rest into a lying hamstring curl would be an awesome upgrade
I agree!

Underrated channel. One of the best
Put the pin back in and put a 35# plate on it now your initiation is further into the moment arm. You can do it for both exercises.
I've tried that. I actually ended up trading this machine though. I have a paramount selectorized machine.

Hm.... interesting... I have been looking at this machine... So in your opinion,, you believe the Valor is superior to this Titan Fitness? Thanks..
I'm curious as well. I've not used that machine. Just based on looks, I feel the Titan is superior. But I've not used the Valor to compare.
Best review I’ve seen on this machine. How’s it holding up
It was holding up amazingly but I recently traded it for a Titan Ronin. Lol

Could you do hamstring curls with this machine? Just wondering.
You can!
Great review I believe we will get it for our rehab facility! We generally do single leg work and we won't be maxing it out on single leg! Should be great
Excellent!
Another way to offset the balance problem would be to bolt the machine to a plywood platform cut to fit the size you need.
That would work but would be extra cost and hassle.
nice review. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you?
6' 1" and thanks!
I used to have another brands machine like this. I just always left the quick release pin out and it never bothered me.
Same. The only time I put the pin in was the first day and then again when making this video. Lol
As always, excellent and thorough review!
Thanks, Trey! I appreciate the kind words!
have you tried banding the bottom leg roller to support bar in the back? I wonder if that would work to help with the tension at the bottom

Se trabaja bien las dos piernas por igual o me da la sensación de que trabaja un poco más la del lado de las pesas?

Only Olympic plates ? 1inch?
