I really don't like adventures, not the story of them, that's great, but the concept of time limited rewards as a whole. I was really hoping that the adventures would eventually all be re-integrated as tall tale books or something, y'know? But so far it seems less and less likely. To be blunt: I LOVE this game, but just because I couldn't afford an XBOX or a laptop that could use Steam, I don't deserve the chance to experience anything before A Hunter's Cry? I mean, I only found out about the Golden Sands thing 20 minutes before it ended! I just don't think that it's fair, but not for purely selfish reasons, I imagine someone else had an even more unfortunate experience than me. Your thoughts?
Well said. It really feels like they had nothing planned for Flameheart's victory. The fact it hasn't been acknowledged by a single NPC in the game, there's no world changes aside from the Pendragon painting, which took over a month to appear and the hard pushing for Pendragon in the trailer, the Herald of the Flame. Chris Allcock even hinted that Flameheart was gonna betray his son just screams how hard they were pushing for a Pendragon dub. When the results drop, we don't even get to see how badly Pendragon lost. Then, Adventures get delayed, the temple tease just evaporates and all the teasers are out of whack. Tinfoil hat moment, but Lost Sands felt like it could go either way but Return of the Damned looks to have re-written what was being planned. Great video, I'm hankering for some new story after nearly 3 months.
Ah yeah the NPCs not acknowledging anything does my head in. Yeah I was super excited for story stuff after the orb teases and that was ages ago and nothing has really happened?! Fingers crossed the break has meant they've been able to re-evaluate. Thanks @AShinyRay 😎🤩
I think they were waiting to lost sands results to be finished,to focus on beggining the RotD stuff,if you hear, there is a new music at the the secondary Island of the reapers hideout, which usually means something going on there
Adventures are a blight, not everyone has free time to experience the content in the small window it is available, they should have just been added to tap tales
Brutal honesty, while I love the game, the time limited story stuff caused me and a lot of friends to stop keeping track of the game, a few stopped playing all together. The time limited stuff makes people who have, say RL jobs or other things they have priority over the game, can't actually enjoy the story aside from getting to hear about it third hand after it's already done and gone.
I agree. The world of sea of thieves is so amazing and it's such a shame to not make that accessible for all players, no matter whether they were online on a specific week or not. Sure.. reward players who are committed but don't penalise those who can't be online 24/7 in case something happens.
A lot of people are hoping that the adventure team are helping to bring A Pirate's Life 2, I personally hope they're doing some retroactive work to allow some old adventures to be accessible. I understand if ones like defending golden sands or fighting for pendragon/flameheart need to be just a summary but lots of them could easily be mini tall tales and I'd love to experience the ones I missed.
Yeah there were have to be different options for ones that are decision points for sure... But a brief summary of what happened would be better than nothing! The fetch quest style ones with dialogue would be easily replayable like the tall tales now.
I can’t say much on it but from what they said in the insider forum (only a description of what’s to come, it’s not in insider build yet), guilds will be very… interesting to say the least. I hope it’ll work out
@@heyitznova4929 the Christmas livestream video From Sea of thieves showing what’s to come literally brings up Guilds. And i didn’t say anything specific about it at all. We all have known that guilds are coming for months. Where have you been? Stuck under the boulder on Boulder Cay?
Though its somewhat unrelated, I do still love how in lore, the Reapers are the bad guys and Athena are the good guys meanwhile in game, Reapers are some of the friendliest crews i've met while Athena are all... weeell, there is no way to put it politely what I think of them, but in short, every single Athena crew I've come across were straight up assholes, overly paranoid and the type to gloat when they 4-man galleon a 1-man sloop, yet run away when a ship the same size comes at them. Tell a Reaper you're introducing a newbie friend to Pirate's Life, they'll apologise and let you go Tell an Athena the same thing, they'll keep sinking you even though they know it gives them nothing, and shittalk you on top of it. ...really makes one think Athena's the real bad guys. But back on topic: I would love for Flameheart to actually return to the game properly, and there are already hints on Reaper's Hideout how things are being expanded. The little uninhabited island for example now plays the theme of the Burning Blade when you stand at a specific spot near a picture of merrick. And that spot lines up perfectly with the locked door of the Reaper's Lair below ground. I do think the Reapers are digging up something/working on something, but it will probably take a few more months
Well I've heard that the devs said that flame hearts return was going to be something big. I also believe that when he does return the first thing that's going to change is the reapers hideout, I believe that eventually it's going to become a giant castle. And once reapers hideout is completed after a few months the reapers might throw a full-scale invasion but that is just my theory lol
Well said. Adventures were not the answer for how to tell a story since no replay value and in my opinion the story telling quality felt extremely low compared to what they did in Tall Tales. Belle needs help, help belle, oh no it didn't help, repeat.
It is definitely lower quality than tall tales since they push adventures more frequently than tall tales and since adventures are limited time only why would they put all the hard effort of making the really polished if it's going to be gone in few weeks? This is why I hate adventures compared to tall tales.
This! I checked out on the Megalodon adventure where 5 players were needed to proceed. By the time i was available to do it, most players either had done it, or werent interested in doing it, so i couldn't find a pirate to assist who wanted to, or wouldn't betray me the second they were out of site. After trying, and missing out on the Meg adventure, i lost complete interest in them whatsoever from then on.
As awnser to your pinned comment.. yes.. yes I do. I do not want to brag but I am a lore hound, I love the story and the secrets of this world and want to know as mush as possible. Love your videos though, keep doing what you love to do!
I don't think Pirate's Life 2 is coming. There is absolutely zero signs of that. I don't even think we'll be getting new tall tales. These times are over. I think they are redesigning adventures somehow and this is the way the story will be delivered.
Captain Wolff here, I really dislike them waiting for so long to achieve anything in this game, story wise. Pirates Life was really cool - But it didn't changed anything in the game itself. The same with the Storyline of Shores of Gold - I didnt played it even tho I'm already on the game since it had the closed Beta - But I know that nothing really changed. I really liked the Introduction of the Tall Tale of Flamehearts return, where we released him into the world and he was a threat (even tho he was only a head in the sky). I liked the event, because he talked while you fight the waves of his ghost ship. This tall tale, with addition to the world event felt REALLY nice. Now we have adventures, where choices mattered. Golden Sands got rebuild because we choosed to. Flameheart got resurrected, because we choosed to. That was really great. Sadly for newer players or players that got left out on the adventures, they couldnt look up what had happened. They just saw changes on golden Sands and I think most of the newer people, dont even know that Pendragon is in the damned region. Adventures WHERE great - Also the time limited nature of it, in my opinion, was great. You HAD to play, when it mattered. You had the be PART of the threat. I really liked that. I dislike that players cant replay it (without them getting the reward) or have any means to see what happened. No one will have the event with the Shrouded Ghost - They will not know how epic that was. I know of a game that has changes in their world, tied to events in the game with time limited choices for the player, the same as Sea of Thieves had. You HAD to be there, to change the world. BUT - And here is the BIG BUT - You could replay it, because it was part of the Questline. You would always arrive in the world that already had the choices been made but you could get to the place where the events had happened and you could replay it - You would get sent back in time on your own server - Where you could ONLY do the storyline. Once you get too far away from the path of the story, you would get a warning and you could decide to stop playing the quest or you could just get back and play the story further. I think, the move Rare should do about that is to add this exact theme. Change the Adventures into Tall Tales. When you choose to play them, you get send back in time and relife what has happened. No events, No Treasure and no other mechanics would be available - Once you sail out too far out of the path you get send back to the outpost without anything - You would simply "join" a new server with a new ship. This would make it possible for players to enjoy the story while still maintaining the open worldness of Sea of Thieves. And yes, this would make it possible to have a "PvE Server" thing - But it doesnt matter because you could ONLY play the adventures. I don't know how they would tackle the PvP Adventures tho (Since you will not join into a Server with other players). I highly think this would be the best way to give players what they want, if they dont know the story behind it. Maybe it would even be possible to add Cinematics this way - Because you are on your own server. New released adventures on the other hand would play out like normal - You join the game, start the adventure and play them out like you are used to - You are in the "Real time", so any threat can happen - Other players, skeleton ships and so on. This change would only happen for the adventures that already happened - So the true Adventure would only be possible for players that are playing at that time where any adventure drops. What do you guys think about this?
I've always liked the idea of a story mode in sea of thieves which gives players the chance to experience the story aspects of sea of thieves without any interruption. How it would work in theory and in terms of development I'm not so sure. A lot of suggestions I've seen for how things should be fixed would be almost impossible in a multiplayer game. Games with character choices are mostly single player experiences because what happens if my crewmate chooses something different? It's complicated. All I know is that the story needs to be more accessible for new and returning players.
Ah see that sucks. It's such a shame because some of them were pretty cool but they were so short lived! I feel bad for players who've missed things and it must just be confusing because nothing would make sense if you weren't there.
Rare definitely need to work on getting a bigger portion of the player base engaged with the story. It's not as immersive as it needs to be. Pirates Life did this well. I just wish they could tell their own stories that way.
Devs need to improve their processes regularly. Rare crunched Anniversary and later adopted the Seasons model of other Live Service games. This seems to be about the time were it's happening again. With "Guilds" and Dark Deception, Rare seem to be behind scedule and I rather see them adopting then crunching the people that work there. Right now, the PvP guys are eating good. Best since Arena closed. I wish most NPCs had 1 dialoge option about recent events and their perspective. Maybe too much for the writers team? I'm still bummed out about the end of Merricks journey and the whole DeMarco mystery. If the "rat" is the start of mystery 2, I hope Rare learns their lesson. Even though they will still push social media to please MS.
Haha yeah can't say I miss that. I don't think you're alone in not being that invested in the story but I think that's a Rare problem in that they haven't managed to capture everyone in the way they tell their stories.
They need to go the way of Halo and make all season progression playable by anyone at any time. Not everyone has time or wants to play ONLY one game so they don't miss out on good story elements. It still takes work to progress the battle pass and do adventures, especially in an open PVPVE world where you don't get to choose to focus solely on the PVE for story (not a moan about PVE only, couldn't care less just stating a point)
Rare has had large story absences before: Forsaken shores - Shores of Gold Ashen winds - Pirates life Pirates life - adventures. I’ve found that if Rare is silent and the content pipe is rather dry, then that probably means they are working on something BIG. With Flameheart’s return on the horizon, the 12th adventure, and a possible Pirates life 2, on top of 5th anniversary, I think we’re probably once again going to get something huge this summer.
I completely agree. The silence is the big giveaway. I'm betting an adventure or two, followed by A Pirates Life 2, followed by a big change for Flameheart's return.
I still don't understand the reasoning behind time limited content... especially when the world hasn't changed significantly enough to affect enjoyment of the adventures. Hell even cinematics in game would help players understand what was happening.
Dang I didnt realize sea of thieves is 5 years old now. I havent played in several years so it would be nice to be able to do all the time limited story missions
Time Travel tall tales. start the tall take portal to the past, takes you along the old seas before the addons. I missed out on a lot of the story I think like pirate life its on its own with out any other players around.
I'm hoping guilds (going on the idea that there based of the three main faction) are able to build the world a bit more and introduce new characters connected to each faction because lore wise they don't really do anything
I personally don't like that much the majority of the gameplay from the tall tales until heart of fire and beyond. And I don't like not having new features over time limited adventures except the community choice, they were very fun. In a perfect world I would like to only have community choice adventures and the rest of the story from comics or cgi episodes. But I understand that this maybe isn't the best decision because adventures do bring players. And also one other reason I don't like tall tales is because they add space to the game that doesn't bring more sandbox features.
I personally wish they would adopt a seasonal model similar to destiny where there's seasonal story lines (side stories and adventures) and then a main expansion (a bunch of tall tales).
As someone who just, very, very recently started playing, it's an absolute shame there's no way to replay or be caught up on the story of Sea of Thieves. I thoroughly love this world, so much so I managed to get to Pirate Legend in a day less than a week, but it truly feels off, seeing all these things being referenced in videos and other quests, that I'll never understand in a proper, natural manner. I pray Rare finds a way to let players like me explore the entirety of this wonderful, watery world's history fluidly.
@@EllieBoopGaming Even if it was just a glorified "Here's what's happened", I'm sure it'd be particularly appreciated. I've looked about, but found no real recap that wasn't just a ten minute long video, rather than actually showing footage and the actual events, dialogue, cutscenes/trailers and adventures themselves, which I very much bet takes away so, so very much of the nuance that makes the story great. Unfortunately, all it boils down to is that I know flameheart's a 'baddie' and... that's it. Very little way to actually personally experience and learn why that is, and what led up to the events of today.
Just a quick question to the story experts: Does the Shores of gold like all the nine tall tales have anything to do with the main story like Flameheart and stuff like that?
Seabound Soul and Heart of Fire are two that link most with the Flameheart and Ashen Lord lore. There is mention of him in APL too, but he isn't quite the main focus
I may be in the minority here, but i dont think ANY content should be timed. People come and go, and someone having a late start shouldnt miss out on content in my opinion.
I absolutely love that idea @10cody7 🤩 that would be a great middle ground so that dedicated players who were there at the time could have something to show off but returning or new players aren't left clueless as to what's going on!
Honestly Rare's decision to have the team spend hundreds of hours to develop amazing narrative and gameplay content to only have it accessible to its community for 14 days and then never use it again baffles me. Just seems like such a waste and a missed opportunity I wouldn't mind time limited titles or some cosmetics, but the gameplay and story should stay in as a playable feature. It allows veterans to reminiss about nostalgic adventures, newer players more ingame lore knowledge and fun experiences. I only joined at the start of season 8 so I haven't been able to experience an adventure yet, which is a shame with how cool some of the previous ones seem (like the megadon one). With a little bit of effort Rare could introduce content that would be new to to 70% of the community, giving more time to work on their upcoming narratives and plans more.
I had this reaction when I found out Heart of Fire's story can't be completed because the follow up was an adventure and not a tall tale. So I get to see Jim become corrupted but not the fallout of that.
I'd definitely recommend doing the tall tales to give yourself a decent understanding of what's going on... But yeah, unfortunately how it is now, if you missed the adventures then you're likely going to have missed important stuff 😞
Ah I love Jack Sparrow... But I do think Rare have a story and universe that's on a par with the greats like Pirates of the Carribbean and I want to hear more of that story!
pvp players are the vocal playerbase and are the ones that attract the most twitch viewers, it's no surprise the game has had less story content and less pve content the past while, sans QoL updates I don't like it either
@@N3ROWASHERE Where does skill come into play with what I said? I'm fine at pvp, I just wish the PvPvE game stopped forgetting about the E just because of twitch streamers.
What happened to the story? Simple, they ditched Tall Tales in favour of the crap rushed adventures that are 2 hours sailing and 5 minutes story telling
Are you missing the story progression as much as me?

The one thing I hate most in a game that has story is when important story content is limited time only and never playable again after time is up.
I still don't understand the reasoning behind time limited content... especially when the world hasn't changed significantly enough to affect enjoyment of the adventures. Hell even cinematics in game would help players understand what was happening.
Absolutely subbed
Dang I didnt realize sea of thieves is 5 years old now. I havent played in several years so it would be nice to be able to do all the time limited story missions
You should tell #sotPodcast about the need for the SoT storyline continuance. ❤
Time Travel tall tales. start the tall take portal to the past, takes you along the old seas before the addons. I missed out on a lot of the story I think like pirate life its on its own with out any other players around.
Falcore updated today. Go check it out. I think Flameheart is coming in one or two seasons
I hope so! I want some progress story wise 🙏😁
I'm hoping guilds (going on the idea that there based of the three main faction) are able to build the world a bit more and introduce new characters connected to each faction because lore wise they don't really do anything
It's about to go down, the calm before the storm 😅
I agree. I wish they could make a campaign style quest which would lead players (new and returning) through the major story beats.
I need to defeat flame heart burning blade, once more and can’t until he’s resurrected 😂😭
You can defeat the burning blade if you do the world event that's a small green tornado !
Just a quick question to the story experts: Does the Shores of gold like all the nine tall tales have anything to do with the main story like Flameheart and stuff like that?
Seabound Soul and Heart of Fire are two that link most with the Flameheart and Ashen Lord lore. There is mention of him in APL too, but he isn't quite the main focus
we all cant wait patiently for season 10 can we haha
No patience whatsoever haha. To be fair, I'm loving season 9 and still have plenty of CoF's to steal so I'm good for a while haha
my guess next adventure is comming in 2 weeks
I’ve not played any of the adventures, some of us have work to do and can’t spend my valuable time on gaming when the game devs dictate
I agree. Time limited content that's as important as story just isn't a great idea in my opinion.
Just seems like such a waste and a missed opportunity
I wouldn't mind time limited titles or some cosmetics, but the gameplay and story should stay in as a playable feature.
Laughs in insider
Just joined the game. Shame I missed the first part of the story.
I'd definitely recommend doing the tall tales to give yourself a decent understanding of what's going on... But yeah, unfortunately how it is now, if you missed the adventures then you're likely going to have missed important stuff 😞
@@EllieBoopGaming I guess I will get on with some tall tales. Cheers :).
I’m missing the lore but to be honest, I kinda hated the adventures. They should have been a new run of tall tales that don’t leave after 2 weeks
What evidence do you have the Pirates Life 2 is coming?
That was 6mo ago, already. Dang.
Yeah I know right? It's gone quick because the seasonal stuff has been good lately but storywise it's dead as a dodo.
People asked for more PvP and less story, so that's what they're getting.
great job rare stopping the major story of the game for some stupid jack sparrow 👏👏👏
Ah I love Jack Sparrow... But I do think Rare have a story and universe that's on a par with the greats like Pirates of the Carribbean and I want to hear more of that story!
*very disgruntled on Insiders* You Honestly don't want to know what's next.... No one is ready for it! (I am not spoiling anything)
pvp players are the vocal playerbase and are the ones that attract the most twitch viewers, it's no surprise the game has had less story content and less pve content the past while, sans QoL updates
I don't like it either
Git gud lol
@@N3ROWASHERE Where does skill come into play with what I said? I'm fine at pvp, I just wish the PvPvE game stopped forgetting about the E just because of twitch streamers.
What happened to the story? Simple, they ditched Tall Tales in favour of the crap rushed adventures that are 2 hours sailing and 5 minutes story telling
nedo
sea of thieves youtubers trying to not use that horrific emote to act like they are talking impossible challange
But like... I am talking though... 🤩
pretty unrated creator i will say
