- World of Warcraft: Shadowlands may go down as the absolute worst expansion to date. But does this surprise anyone? The story was severely lacking any depth. The Covenant Mechanics divided players like nothing else. Then to top it off there was very little to do besides a daily chore list that if you didn't grind it out on all your alts you would fall behind.
In this Machinima, Nixxiom encounters a retail WoW player in the wild and has to explain why he would rather stay in Classic WoW rather than move into the dumpster fire that is Shadowlands.

The fact that this was actually very scarily accurate to the Plot of _Shadowlands_ makes me think that Nixxiom has future sight abilities.

I read that a lot of people bring WoD out once again...
I won't even take Garrisons into account (people spitted on it and nowadays they're asking for its counterpart with player housing) but WoD contents may have been rushed and cut out yet it has one of the best atmosphere in the whole game.
After that expansion everything went full Disney, with Legion being spared due to its solid core and the theme revolving around it.
Devs hard polished even things that were supposed to be gritty and gloomy going full cartoon on everything.
I bet some people were more anxious roaming around Duskwood and Tirisfal Glades than in The Maw.
The only plus that shadowlands had going was that every class was viable in pvp. Now in dragonflight if you aren't playing the op 4 classes you're having a terrible time

Not gonna lie the ridiculousness of crates happening to be all the way in Un'Goro was a nice touch, though I guess the camps in Un'Goro would have supplies, not gonna lie I was legitimately expecting him to get thrown into a nest only to get swarmed by raptors.

Covenants divided players, so did class order halls in legion... But you know what the best thing about that was? The death knight's order hall racial law would keep out the lesser race of pandarens.
Say what you will about shadowlands but it has probably my favorite armor designs, highest quality model and skins for all weights

Lmao! Nixxiom is the reason why the Jailer is bald, mad, and had a rebound girlfriend that sold him out. It makes sense where all the SL content went, he already finished it before we came. 😂I love it!

Recently came back to WoW. Hated Shadowlands so much that I bought Dragonflight just I could skip it. That Oribos place is the worst.
Weirdly, I didn't know what I expected, yet I was not satisfied, just like with SL.

Shadow what? Never heard about that expansion. We played BFA straight to Dragonflight.
Classic IS still better than Retail. But Dragonflight at least is getting there.

@@GUNKKA Classic is about the journey. The endgame is absolutely boring, but ironically leveling is the fun part, because you need to come together with random people to get anything done.
I liked Shadowlands.
I hated the enforced time-gating.
I also think that Blizz dropped the plot ball in order to put Dragonflight in front of Microsoft.
And I need a t-shirt that reads: The Gaoler was framed.
For me the worst was Bfa , Shadowlands unfortunately paid the price for that expansion abomination!
I don't know why some people hated this expansion, I don't have idea, my favorite is Burning Crusade,Wrath Of The Lich King,Pandaria and Legion🙂
When I got to Maldraxxus in the story, yeah no I was done, the expac was boring as hell.
What is hysterical is BFA is worse than Shdaowlands. Shadowlands wasn't great but at least there wasn't curruption, as many class balance issues, and garbage glitchy game play. I was thanking Blizzard for releasing Classic during that time. Where as when Shadowlands came out and even after it felt far more balanced and game play was relevtively smooth, as well as more enjoyable and played it and Classic. I straight quite playing Battle For Azeroth. Still not the greatest expansion but far from the worst, especially considering the worst was the previous expansion to it. Hard to mess up when the bar is set so low.
Yeah, BfA was dead on arrival. The hyped new ideas going for it were piggybacking off of the success of Legion, and half-baked at that, so when they fell short Blizz had to pull a 180 mid expansion. They just didn't have the resources to completely fix what was already coming, so the whole expansion, while filled to the brim with content, just feels lukewarm. Arguably worse than being abominably bad, because at least Cata is memorable for that. Shadowlands definitely gets a worse rep than it deserves. Retail WoW is stuck in an echo chamber now, and nothing they put out will over be truly fulfilling to everyone. The closest we'll get in the modern day was probably Legion, and WotLK before that of course.
@@sincodemayo I am actually enjoying Dragonflight thus far. Was playing Classic WotLK, because favorite expansion. Now I am thoroughly enjoying DF awaiting faction transfers on Classic but not sure I'll even go back to Classic with the current expansions's experience it is putting out.

People think Legion was the worst? Legion was the best since Wrath, idk what y'all are smoking.
@@sincodemayo The only people that think legion was good were people that didn't play it when it was current, and didn't play any xpack before legion. You can go and watch videos from when it was current to see what people actually thought about it. It notoriously had some of the worst raiding the game has ever had. It had *one* 5 man instance you could do on M+ for AP farming, Maw of Souls. And people were relvling their same class to 110 to try and fish for 4 different legos since your bad luck protection ended after 4. The paragon rep system was the worst system ever added to the game for collectors. On top of that, people that care about mounts, that do NOT care about pokimans were forced to do pokimans for 4 whole mounts. Argus, which could have been a whole xpack of content was a single throw away patch at the end of the xpack, just like the naga and black empire in BFA. You can go and play on a 7.0 pserver right now and see just how bad things are. On top of everything else was the dumbing down of pet/guardian AI. If you actually played a pet class pre 7.0 and post 7.0 you know exactly what I mean. They also revamped EVER spec in the game in 7.0 unnecessarily, making many specs no longer fun to play in the slightest, adding restrictions and taking things away from classes/specs that had been a part of their class theme for years. At the time, legion was considered the worst xpack the game had ever seen, and that was coming off of WoD. In a year from now I am willing to bet people are going to start thinking BFA was a 'good' xpack.
SL was my first exposure to WOW. I came in just before 9.2 came out. I had a good time. I stayed out of hell wherever possible.

it was bad yes. but it wasnt as bad as BOA. not by a long shot. that was even worse than wod.
I disagree. BfA was promising and actually gave you something to do. WoD had great content, some of the best in the game in terms of zones and PvE, but you spent most of your time afk in your garrison because there was so little actual content to do. Farming the same raid tier for over a year is bad design, and Blizz just put way too much effort into the garrison and not enough into raid tiers.
