I just found this video &I appreciate it. I have just bought the Sony RX10 iii camera to use in my retirement. I am a complete beginner to photography & was looking for a video to take me through how to set up this camera from the 1st time you turn it on. And I did get some help from this vide. Thank you
I have bought, tested ,sold, or returned close to 25 cameras in the price range of $300-$2000 in the last 3-4 yrs.. I wanted this camera 4 yrs ago.. I think my GAS is over now ( gear, acquisition, syndrome ) .. Went to Best Buy to pick up a used rx100m3 but it was sold.. So upset until the salesman told me they just got the rx10m3 as a return and got it for $250 of msrp... I can't believe how awesome this camera is..
i own one and it complements my sony a7s which replaced my nikon d4s. i am still amazed by the a7s'performance in low light which outperforms the nikon d4s every single time i do a boudoir/erotic shooting. now THIS model, the all new rx10 III is one amazing piece of hardware. excellent low light performance (of course not comparable to the a7s) and the lens is just great. the camera feels good and excels at everything i have done so far. this is a very general posting, so if you want more information just ask :)
What a great review, after looking into this and breaking it all down via various sites and places your detailed review just pushed me over the edge with this great bit of kit. Thanks. Also, I have to say, your review style is truly second to none, subscribed, thank you once again.
Looks to be a great camera, and as someone who is getting tired of lugging a DSLR and lenses around, it does seem a good choice for almost every situation you encounter. It is expensive-though when you consider that quality comes at great cost when purchasing a DSLR and at least two lenses, then it is still a good deal-but will be even better by next year when the price falls! As for the smaller sensor, well some of the images I've seen from the RX10 and RX10ii are remarkable and could put some DSLR owners to shame-including me. Having a camera like this which you can just grab and go is great. I really don't see how ANYONE could be disappointed with any aspect of it, considering it's quality and convenience. Thank you for the review :)
I'm all in for an all in one package, so this appeals to me for sure. I have a DSC-HX300 with a 24mm to 1200 (50 optical zoom) and I wondered if a RX10 m2 would be suitable as replacement or the RX10m3 would be better. Torn and I don't really 100% know if the 50 optical on my HX300 is comparable with the RX10m2 and M3s reach. Not 100% on the optical vs MM zoom.
Recently purchased an RX1R used...and LOVE it! Sold off my A7ii and am thinking of getting the RX10iii as a complement to the RX1R. Do you really think that would provide a good combo? I am having a hard time giving up all of the vintage FD lenses I used with the A7ii, but am looking to simplify and have the ability to carry as much capability as possible...without lugging a huge case around :) However, I'm concerned with the image quality of a 1" sensor, and printing up to 16X20 prints. I have the RX100ii and love it for concerts and low light footage, but don't want to compromise too much image quality with the RX10iii. On the other hand, it may balance well with the exquisite IQ of the RX1R. Sorry to ramble on, but any perspective and opinion would be helpful! Love your reviews, BTW. Thank you!
I got the rx1 and the original rx10 for travel. Only one problem when you see the photos from both you will use just the rx1 when possible. The one inch cameras sometimes make shocking good photos but sometimes I feel they not better than my phone. I really wish to buy the rx10 iii but the quality of the photos just not good enough sometimes. I will go for a7 ii and 24-240fe lens.
Canon is the king of flip-out LCD screens (Rebel T3i for instance). Panasonic too, with cams such as the FZ200/300. Why Sony sticks to this single axis articulation mechanism is beyond me. I would buy this gem of a cam in an instant if its LCD was fully articulated. Good review.
Hi: Great video. I want to buy this camera on October 1st. If I set the aperture to F4 like you suggested, what MODE do I take photos in? I want to shoot P mode. If I shoot in P mode it will adjust shutter speed and aperture, right? Can I manually turn the aperture ring when I am on the MF mode? Also I saw a video where the Aperture ring said F6 for example but on the screen on top on the camera it said something like F3. Why is that? I am buying this camera on October 1st. If I shoot in the P mode, the aperture and shutter speed are corrected, right? How do I set my ISO & for landscape/nature photography, what is the best ISO to use?
Would sure love to find a website that judge sensor/lens quality and sharpness in the enlargement of photos. Such as 8x10, 11x14 etc. So far I really like my rx10iii.
Does it shoot the UHD non-cropped and gives the entire 24mm? Is the W/T powered zoom one speed or vari-speed? Sorry, I watched the entire video and didn't find out.
Ed, I love your videos, but recently I've noticed you repeat yourself. I think if you scripted your videos a little bit more, you could keep things more concise. I don't think most people have half an hour to watch a single video...
Come on man, don't be an armchair RUclips director. He does a great job and his videos are among the best on RUclips. Don't pick him apart for nonsensical crap. You're not paying him one red cent.
Not sure how politely telling him how to improve is picking "him apart for nonsensical crap". Half an hour's a long time for a RUclips video, and the guy has a point.
I had the Panasonic FZ1000 which took decent photos. I went to dpreview.com and compared the Panasonic to the Sony RX10 lll on the studio comparison chart at ISO's of 100, 200, and 400 since I enjoy shooting wildlife at the zoo. Since both have a 1 inch sensor I didn't expect much difference. But to my surprise, the RX10 lll was significantly sharper and had more detail. I guess it's all about the lens. So I just returned from B&H with my new RX10 lll yesterday. And lucky me, it was the last one in stock! Can't wait to break it in at the Bronx Zoo! Good video!
Man that camera make sharper photos even from my Canon T6i and almost the same like Canon 6D full frame. Yes the noise is good to ISO 200 but I always shoot with a tripod and this will not be a problem for me. Even ISO 400 is acceptable than you can reduce the noise in Adobe Light room latter :)
I appreciate your video. But I would like to see more from the option's in the camera with explanation what is it. Not everybody know Sony cameras. Some people like me jump from Canon directly to that model without owned the old Sony models. I will receive my camera in 2 days and wonted to be prepared with the menu. This would save my time when I got it.
Great camera - but Ed must not have kids or lives in the south. For hockey, actually any sport, this camera fails miserably. The save time on cache’d frames is unacceptable. I could quibble with the focus speed, but that’s why the IV exists. It’s the delay of saving a burst that kills this camera for me.

Thank you for your review, hoping there is a mark 4 review coming up.
Can this camera do a high res photo grab while shooting 4K video ?

Great review. One correction however, the RX10 III flash is not bounceable.
2:22 : 1 and 2 gen RX10 had only 1-stage ND filter I believe.

Would you agree that this bridge camera is over-priced???
Not when you consider what it is capable of.

His name is Ed.
Good catch, I typed that on my phone :/

Tom Cass Does that include yourself? :)

Great review. I have one on back order and I am hoping its ships tomorrow :)
Thanks for this useful video.
What you say about the camera have not weathershield?
Thank you for your great review, it DID help me a lot. BTW, I love this camera!
do you think it can record motorsport , like supermoto, i just want to edit short movies as a hobby =)
Maybe do some slowmotions too
Absolutely. I used mine for some car drift stuff and it's great.
Please how do i shoot 120fps on this camera?
A great camera and a nice shape too/ The 4k is amazing and the sony imaging is crisp as hell. No wonder their sensors are in Nikons.
why not touch green ?
Stunning Video for someone like myself about to hit the Buy Now Button and Buy the Sony DX10 mark III well worth viewing Thank you !!!
interesting that a7r2 doesnt have a side screen whereas rx10iii has
Hi. In Video settings. I don't have the 30p 100. And 30p 60. Only have the 24p option. On my RX 10 mark 3. Can someone please tell me why that is?
how's slow motion?

Sony shouldve put the a6300 guts with emount interchangeable in this body. That camera would be perfect. And most likely it wouldn't overheat.
Thanks for the review. I am have a better understanding of how to use this camera.
