What I love about the episode is the constant cutting back to Bebop and Rocksteady in the Technodrome basement while all the action is happening. Good episode but needed to be a two parter. It wasn't long enough.
6:00 Now that you mention it, the turtles don’t have a lot of combat ready allies in the immediate area. At least compared to other cartoons… 🤔 I doubt the Punk Frogs or The Neutrinos could make it all the way there on short notice. 😅
I love when the non-main villains band together to defeat the good guys. However, it bothered me that Antrax and Scumbug appeared out of nowhere without even an introductory episode. And that among the TMNT allies only Casey and Zach have returned. I was hoping to see the Punk Frogs again but especially Mona Lisa (One of the most wasted characters from the first animated series!).
The reason to bring back only Casey and Zach was that they were humans (so they reinforced the message of the episode). It would have been nice to have another team-up episode with other mutants.
A modern revival of this series would go so hard with better writing, consistent animation quality, and better action sequences. So much money on the table with TMNT.
@@Turo602Oh, I see, you want the old show back again. The 2012 is like a modernized version of this show with better writing, consistent animation and better action. But if you want the old show back good luck with that.
@emanueljackson1728 Never said it was likely to happen, just that they're leaving money on the table by not doing it. The 2012 show is also not that either. It may take heavy influence from the 80s cartoon but falls flat in so many areas and is nowhere near comparable to what the 80s TMNT was. It's got more in common with the 2003 series.
@@Turo602 @Turo602 The 2012 series doesn't have more in common with the 2003 series. If anything it's a mixture of the 80's show, the 2003 show, and the comics. But with a heavy influence of the 80's cartoon. The theme song, Metalhead, Krang, Hamato Yoshi being Splinter, Irma, Shredder with two henchmutants, a turtle having a crush on a human, how the mutagen works, Mutagen Man, Mondo Gecko, Slash, Dimension X, Lord Dregg, and the over abundance of mutants. All taken from the 80's show. It was meant to get fans of the 80's show on board, with a show for a new audience because that's where the money is at. But it seems nothing short of just bringing back the actual 80's show will spark some fans of the original show's interest. Also the 2012 has way better writing, action and animation than the original cartoon, let's be honest.
This is SO DEFINITELY one of my favorite TMNT 1987 episodes. Sure, it could be rewritten into a 2-part TV series special (OR HELL, EVEN A MOVIE), but the episode was really, really, really great to watch overall! I consider this the prelude to the next Shredder and Kraang episode "Shredder Triumphant!".
Loved this episode! Was so excited that Saturday morning to see all these villains together! Always loved leatherhead so he could never have too many appearances and Antrax was my biggest surprise! Loved his figure and wish he had been used more in the toon(or anything like games & comics). But yea was confused as a kid when he & Scumbug(who I thought was cool in the comics) acted like they had fought the tmnt before
I did not know that James Avery was Shredder in the show, I should have known they sounds identical. I love Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, so Will Smith had the Shredder as his uncle?
I wish there’s a episode where Tmnt encounter Scumbug , like a episode where a exterminator got turn into half human half cockroach creature by shredder and Krang to poison the turtles in the sewer, there got be a episode that won’t mind being replace like the phantom of the sewer .
This is one of those episodes where the bad guys are teaming up, it’s only that the Rat king ever came back after this episode which is a shame that the others villains never came back to get closure, this was one of the my favourite episodes, it was odd that they brought in Antrex and Scumbug were used in this episode and no where else Happy New Year
It’s always bugged me a little how Saturday Morning Adventures is described as a “spin-off universe” when nothing contradicts the events of the comics. Sure, the comic’s timeline might be vague or confusing, but there were some things in the original show that were vague or confusing too. Until officially announced, it doesn’t seem that fair to call it non-canon to the original show.
I wouldn't call it the same universe either. The most glaring difference is that Krang and Shredder are using their 8th season hideout before the beginning of the 8th season (Channel 6 building is still around).
Personally I would not ask for their help again if this is how they react to their own failure because Krang and Shredder are right, they are the ones who failed. My other issue is that we don’t see Scumbug or Antrax again in future episodes.
Love how you pointed out that the main theme of the episode was later explored in depth with Mutant Mayhem! Just to know, is Night of the Rogues worth a watch? 🤔
@@Thetruthbehindsciencefiction I have the DVDs. It may show up every now and then on PlutoTV, but if you have none of those, you could technically... download them by other means.
Thanks for watching!
Who is your favorite Rogue?
Well I guess you already know it’s the Rat king.
Of course, Chrome Dome. He and Rex-1 are the coolest robots in the Ninja Turtles universe! 🦾🔥
Whether he’s a good guy or bad guy, Leatherhead is number one, I guarantee! 😁👍🏾
With that said, we REALLY need to bring back Tempestra! 😅

Nickelodeon already did that with the 2012 series. It's the only good TMNT project they made so far since buying the franchise.
@emanueljackson1728 No, they didn't. That's an entirely new show. Not a revival of the old one.

Yeah they should have evened the odds more.

It just balls of revenge

Yes, although it may take me several month to get to them. Have you watched the Splinter 2003 video?

This is the season where the Turtles started using martial arts more frequently for the first time since season 1.
There was more violence which had been missing since Season 3.

I may do it eventually, but it would need to be more about the behind the scenes than the actual story, because that is pretty much already covered.
