    I purchased this with the trailer connector for my 2024 EV6. Install took 10 minutes and works perfectly. I love it. I wish there was an underbody light kit that works like my Ford Edge puddle lights worked. Keep up the good work with all these helpful products and vids.

    I just successfully installed this in about thirty minutes. Most of that time was not because the installation steps are in any way difficult, but because it is an awkward space to work in. For reference, I am 6'2" tall and over 300lbs, and in my late 50's. Wriggling around in a confines space is something that was much easier for me a few decades ago, but these days it's more difficult to contort myself into the correct position to get at the wiring harness. That being said, the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I disconnected my 12v, disconnected the harness, made the four taps as described, and reconnected the 12v. I saw the two green LEDs on the module, tapped the trunk open button on my fob three times, closed the door, and a few seconds later all of the doors auto locked. Three more taps on the same button disabled it so that the doors do NOT auto lock (important for situations like dropping the car at a dealership or with a concierge), and three more taps once again enabled it. As they say, 'Super easy, barely an inconvenience'. The doors not auto-locking has been my one genuine annoyance with this car, and I am thrilled to have that problem solved.

    Love the idea of this, however, I really don't like cable splices. I'd love to see an adapter that I can plug in instead of splicing wires. Wonder if it's possible to get male and female connectors to be able to do this without needing to cut the insulation of any cables. Would also mean that the mod becomes completely reversable without effecting the car. Just like the FitcamX camera.

      That’s kinda like a molex connector. Metra made exclusive car molex connectors for us at Circuit City when we were still open. Something like that that can use the existing plug and this device could be connected via an inline molex adapter that would not only eliminate splicing it would also resolve any issues regarding warranty since you aren’t modifying anything.

      I spent some time looking into it and the male side of the connector is easy to find but the female side I cannot find anywhere. The amount of time it would take me to build each connector with crimping and stripping wires, I would have to charge over $200 for each and I doubt people are willing to spend that much. Here’s the part number if anybody wants to look. Manufacturer: KET Part No: MG656961-5

    Much needed modification! I’m also for the modular type if you develop it. Leaving the car inadvertently open happens when I get out of the car, get something out of the hatch having forgotten I didn’t lock the doors first. What I’d really like is the ability to lock the entire car while closing the hatch. Maybe next gen. Thanks for another superb video. 😂

    A clever device! Good idea! However, I assume it isn't "programmable" so that you can tell it NOT to work depending upon the location (say, in your garage). That's a useful feature of the"auto-lock" in Teslas: they'll lock when away from home, NOT when at home. BTW, somewhat related, I sure an OTA update would add a dedicated "Dog Mode" to the car.

    I just bought, received, and installed. I have a 2023 Limited without the Heat Assy Box, so I had to attach the wire taps into the big white block thing as instructed in the guide. After doing all of the taps, and reconnecting the battery, I got the 2 green lights, but its not working at all. None of the doors are locking. I've also tried all 3 dip switch positions and no luck. My key fob is also different from the instructions. As I have the parking assist buttons. Any clues on how to get it to work or maybe a possible refund?

    @ioniq5guy
    Regarding the splicing snaps, do they just go over the wire and have a small blade that cuts into the existing wire without needing to solder or cut anything? Or is that another type of connector I am thinking about?
    I really need this device, I always forget to lock my car. And Bluelink notifies me 10mins after the fact. That’s too much of a delay IMO.
    Off topic but can you also look into a cupholder extension that attaches to a mini table? I use my car for mostly work (do about 2k mileage a month). A table/desk that uses the cupholder on the front (but also still keeps the cupholders lol) would be a great product for those of us that use our cars for more than just casual use. My car is my office basically.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  6 месяцев назад +1

      It's a little grooved piece of metal and the two sides are sharpened so that when you place the wire into it and clamp the splice shut it pushes the wire into that groove which cuts slits in the insulation but doesn't dig deep into the conductor of the wire. I've seen a few in passing on Amazon and Hyundai sells one that attached to the bottom of the steering wheel but I think they only sell it in Korea. I'll keep my eyes out.

    Great find and a great idea (which Hyundai should just offer lol) Quick question, so even though the 24 Ioniq 6 SEL has auto-unlock on approach this product won't work since that model is lacking auto-folding mirrors?

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's a gray area. Neither I nor the manufacturer has been able to test every car and every trim. That is my understanding but since it has auto-unlock, maybe it will? It'll likely work but you may just lose auto-unlock. You're welcome to test it out and if it doesn't work you can return it within 2 weeks for a full refund.

    Is Hyundai still going to start charging for use of the Bluelink app, (but let newer Ioniq's use the app for free - I think I heard you say this once)? Right now, if I forget to lock the door the app let's me know and I can lock it from there, but if I'm going to have to pay for use of the app, and I decide not to, then this would be even more critical. Rather than fake engine noises, I wish they would put some more work into these basic usage features!

    The activate and deactivate codes (press the "trunk release" 3 times rapidly) should be different. Say 3 times to activate and 4 times to deactivate. That way you can set it to what you want without knowing the current state.
    What I really would like is what is in the Prius. Press the lock button with the door open and the car will lock when the door is closed. ((Big thanks for finding this!))

      SEL contains both connectors so you can install whichever way you choose. You just have to pull the side panel in the trunk to gain access

    We have a 2023 Ioniq 5 in Canada with around 15,000 miles on it.
    I, too have issues with the locks but not the same as you. We have to park the car on the left side of the garage and so approach it on the right. As you would expect the doors unlock. To get to the drivers door we circle around the back to get to the left side. Just about the time we ‘round the corner’ the doors re-lock. On arriving at the drivers door you have to touch the drivers door handle or use the fob to unlock. WTF? This is just plain stupid but according to the dealer ‘normal’
    While on my rant we love being able to use Bluelink to warm the cabin and the steering wheel but can’t for the life of me understand why we can’t warm the seats.
    I think it is a great driver but the ‘user interface’ needs work
    Keep up the good work

    I wish someone could just figure out how to program the software to do this without additional hardware. Also, when talking about what could possibly happen with anything wiring related, my first thought is something like a fire or short. If the manufacturer can find you have caused damage to something they can certainly void the warranty for that particular issue. Magnusson-Moss isn’t the catch all protection some people think. Just like retuning an ECM on an ICE vehicle can void the warranty on the engine, I would be leery of splicing into wires in the event something did go wrong. Pressing the indent on the door handle takes all of 1 second and isn’t that inconvenient.

    Hi. I just bought an EV6 and I came across this video. I would like to do this and buy your kit. I have a question though. All I have read says an EV6 GT model. I could not afford that model, so I got the Light model without a remote trunk. Will this work for a Light model and if so, what install model would it use? Could it be the trailer hitch type? That seems easier to access. Thank you for your help.

    This is a cool mod. Personally I probably won't install this because I like the approach auto open and don't want to lose this functionality. I wonder if this device will lock the doors when the car is in utility mode? I like to use utility mode from time to time and the only way to lock the doors while in utility mode is to use the physical key which is a bummer.

      I lock on utility mode by lowering the driver side window, exiting the car, close the door, then reach in open window, lock the car, and flip auto close on the window (and remember to remove your arm - also hold your keys in the other hand). Any way then I only need to use the physical key to unlock in utility mode.

    Rant inside. I have a couple questions, first of most being why does this device need to exist? I don't mean that in the negative way towards the device maker or you Corbin but it's insane that these cars don't have something as simple as auto lock. Literally basic and a pillar of theft protection, especially with all the hot water from the immobilizer drama why the hell wouldn't they do this? The second question is why again, seriously think about it that's actually insane. I'll have a list of things below that bother me. My third question is if you can set the delay before it locks, I'd love that and I just want to say thank the manu for the product and corbin for kitting it out.
    Now on to the fun part, I love this car but there's a couple goddamn things that are so dumb:
    No auto lock, not timed, not proximity, zilch.
    No digital key 2 even on 24 my, promised software update but that might not materialize. I6 already has it, stupid we dont.
    USB A ports in 2024? Are you joking? This isnt 1997.
    No profile linking to keys, or profile linking to hard buttons, literally WHY.
    Speaking of profiles, why can I only have two of them plus a guest, what if more than two people drive your car?
    No rear wiper will probably be addressed next year but the fact we don't have one is stupid.
    No integrated dash cam even though it literally already exists in the Korean market and all the hardware is there, it's just a software update away (same with auto lock cuz it's available in Europe). This drives me mad because there's no development involved they already have it.
    No sentry or gear guard mode, again after the theft thing especially why??????
    Why can't my brand new expensive shiny 2024 car do deep platform updates over wifi? Why do i gotta go to the dealership?
    No wireless Android auto or apple carplay, I don't care whatever contracts or excuses they have it's dumb we should have it.
    No Android auto or car play information in the front screen or heads up display, my dad's 2020 Honda pilot that runs a jank version of Android 4 can do this, no excuses. Also makes it so I got to use the worse inbuilt nav if i want information where my eyes are instead of lala land all the way off on the touchscreen.
    No ccnc system upgrade for even brand new cars, feels terrible buying a brand new car with tech that's already smacked by much cheaper one (kona ev).
    I still love this car but holy hell are these things completely inexcusable, especially the fact everything but the ccnc upgrade and USB c ports seems to be just a software update away from being available.
    Each of these things isn't really annoying but the fact they're mostly all software and could and should have been fixed by now makes them way worse.
    Rant over, thanks corbin for the device and guide though.
