I have this same 140 engine on my 1988 Doral 19 foot. Still runs strong. My Dad bought this boat brand new in 1988. I inherited it 3 years ago. Loved seeing your video, thanks for sharing it. I love the smell of 2 stroke smoke every time I fire it up on a nice warm morning. Nothing Like IT!!
@@Mablemaddness what prop do you have on it in the video, I just bought an older boat with a 140 on it and have not tested it yet. It has a 13 1/4 - 19 on it right now. These things should max out at 5000 rpm.
@@Mablemaddnesswhat size boat? I got a just got a 18 heavy fiberglass ski boat with the 85 I wanna turn it into a 140. I got 32 mph tops but averaged 30 wide open

That's a good running Evinrude V4 140 👍
Damn good engines. Two stroke with a carberater. No BS, they just worked.
Wow...I had a 15ft Hydrostream with a 135 Johnson running a 26 pitch prop that would do 70mph...I ran many a gallon of gas through that thing
Indestructible.
I just love the colors and the look of the old evinrudes. The black and the blue. They just spell reliability and power I think
Ah ....music to me ears.⚓🇺🇸⚡
Ultra reliable
Hi, What year is your motor? Thank you
I got the same motor with what we think is fuel issues hit the throttle and it boggs and dies
I had the same issues, turned out to be the coil packs failing on mine, hope this helps
Jeesh!
What style / size of boat is this on?
The engine is a 1988, and it’s on a 1990 Larson all American 170, 17’ long
What is your top speed? Really looks like it's cookin
Dose 43 and could use a prop up

@@R1Kyle I have the exact same prop you have, but in this video it’s turning 5800rpm so I’m going to try a 21”
@@Mablemaddness Yeah that would be better as 5500 is a huge max you would want to turn that motor.
My picton 14ft with 70hp would smoke this thing
Probably would, this is a big heavy family boat, it dose 38-42mph with a couple people

@@simpleoffgridlife it’s a 18ft as well, not sure the beam but I’m thinking it’s over 6ft
