TL;DR yes it can! This thing is an absolute beast in the snow. I rented one over the weekend in Colorodo and of course my plans were all changed with a snow storm that dumped about 6 inches on us. This thing acted like there was nothing on the ground. The wife and I were so impressed we are considering buying one and she doesnt impress easily.

I have the hybrid and I have a few gripes. The hybrid is not a happy car in the cold when you're going over 110km/h on the highway, I find that the transmission needed another gear or two as it revs really high in generally, but when its cold sometimes it won't kck into the last year. But the thing I hate most, is the recessed wiper blades, that sit lower than the small front interior vent that is used to heat the windsheild. Meaning that when ice builds up, nothing melts off your blades, which has caused me to pull over a few timmes while on the 401/402 here in Ontairo to clean them. Having said that, I absolutely love this car coming from a Tiguan which was a lemon. But I'm definitely looking forward to spring to enjoy this car fully again.
