They're some of the best watches on the market and far more comfortable than G-shocks of any kind. Far underrated. The one you have is a little oversized but most are smaller.

There are defiantly some Ironman fanboys out there, I didn't speak badly of it! I totally get the functionality and design differences to G Shocks. I do love YIMEX as a brand. Thanks for watching!

I do really like Timex. And specially because not to many people use it like the g-shock, I like to have things that not to many people use. And I prefer Timex instead of casio. I like specially the ironman triathlon. The 30 lap and the 100 lap. I have both. But I think casio is a step forward with better materials. If Timex will make an effort to make this watch with sapphire and solar like the g-shock I'm pretty sure that timex will get more costumers. There's only one Timex that is with sapphire instead of plastic is the ironman triathlon shock. But is not solar.

Practical, functional, and it seems pretty durable. What's not to like!? It's an ultimate tool watch.
The only thing I'd worry about is the strap. I had some bad experiences with Casio's plastic straps, and this one doesn't seem much different, which means it could easily break after some time of hard usage. And it seems changing it is not an easy job, especially if it accepts only a proprietary Timex strap. Tho, since you didn't talk about that in the video, I'm not sure.
Btw, that Steeldive at the end is a mechanical watch. And that's a 👎by default.

So, during lock down I got sucked into learning about Homages. Not like deep stuff like learning more about the movements. But, learning about why a screw down crown or why sapphire is important. And I had always wanted a willard. but, I learned that sapphire and screw down are not negotiable. So, I was not going to buy a Seiko. But, the steeldive, man, screw down crown, good lume, good movement, sapphire. Technically, its a good watch.

The Ironman does deserve some respect, they must still be selling loads to keep the range going so long. They definitely have some USP's over G -Shocks. The Steeldive is a cracking watch for the price. I am not the only channel to say so. go on get one. You will love it! yes it is mechanical, I f I screwed that up I blame the e lack fo coffee or alcohol that day. Thanks for watching!

@@BudgetWatchReviews I get it that this Steeldive is a beautifully designed watch. But imagine if there would be exactly the same model, but with a quartz movement... It'll still be cracking, and also infinitely better, by any metric possible... more practical, more durable, more accurate, with no additional service costs...
I mean just imagine that. Wouldn't that be much better and more enjoyable for everyone?
It's so frustrating to see so many beautiful mechanical watches on the market, but without quartz alternatives. I know that companies are intentionally forcing production of mechanical watches, because they are many times more profitable than quartz models, so they are happily milking that cash cow. Which is crappy and a total waste, if you ask me.
But I'm helpless there. I can only dream that some day people will come to their senses and see that the king is truly naked... so we can finally enjoy in having better things.
Tho, I doubt it'll happen during my life time.
      😥

So, at this point I am concerned you have implanted a device in my head. The Steeldive 1970 is like a siren that calls to me, to get off digital. But...lets get to it. First off, thank you. If you want to send the watch to America, I will take it off your hands. Second, I think the talk of function over form is super cool and reinforcing for me. The psuedo soldier G Shock tribe often times comes to this FUNCTION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING in discussion. And the 2 of the 3 Casios I have are terrible, function wise. I mean, I have a solar square, and a solar casioak, and the buttons are almost unusable. I do not think I would buy another casio without a bluetooth connection, or a serious alternate set of buttons. And of course there are many. But, they are like five times the price of this, and this literally does everything almost all g shocks do that a normal person needs. I have no need for a altimeter in my life, and I would say that I think 90% of the world does not either. It just seems like Casio needs to separate out their professional products for people like soldiers, doctors, paramedics, firefighters....and then make things regular people use. Like computer wise, I have no need for the capability for a Mac Pro, but I would like one. But, that would be dumb. I can literally talk about this watch forever. I put one on when I was 15, trying to fit in with the older guys on swim team, and have had one on my wrist for I would imagine 85 to 90% of my life. With a detour into Swatches for a bit. I think for me, I have sort of built a set of ideas around the Timex Ironman, a solid back pack, and shoes you can run in if you need to. Thanks for doing this. I am stoked to see the comments.

Dino, I am so glad you found your watch so early in life. I wish I had, would have saved me a fortune. I think we are of a similar age, so it is the younger generation who seem to want more for the sake of having more than before. I think CASIO clicked on this very early on and have slowly feed their customers with things they make them 'think they need'. Apple is also very good at that as well, strange you mention them. I am glad there have been so many comments, you have a lot of peope who think the same as you. I will be covering some other Ironman watches in the future. Just need to clear my back log of watched first! Thanks for watching!

I'm a Casio guy, worn nothingbut casio/gshock digitals for 15 years now, but I recently resurrected an older Ironman Triathlon 30 lap oversized (43mm) and am just blown away by how perfect it is.
I actually disagree on the buttons - I find the side buttons get pressed accidentally too much - but in terms of legibility and function this thing blows most solar gshocks out of the water. Insane legibility angles, audible alarms, I can go on and on. Made a whole thread about it on Watchuseek's digital and ABC forum. I can't take it off.

Okay, so this video has really put a bee in my bonnet. I am going to let my solar Casio Square, and my Solar Casioak go. I am not a military fetishist. And the two I have have buttons that are completely useless to me. I have owned the squares before, and in one case I took it apart and took an exacto knife to it to try to make the buttons usable. It amazes me that the one casio I have, the one with the metal face thing that is not a g shock, HAS BUTTONS THAT WORK! That is the thing with this Ironman. It is everything the soldier folks want. Ease of use. It has water resistance deep enough for 99% of the scuba I can think of, they are durable as heck, the menus makes sense, and the buttons are accesible. This watch, while pointed at people who run and swim and bike, is also absolutely capable of all things needed for pretend soldiers/preppers. My digital summer has been like this, I invariably put on the square or the casioak, in the hopes of being a guy who wears this stuff. But, within a few hours, I walk into my bedroom and get one of three timex products, and put the Casio back on the shelf. I am stoked about my Casio Duro's, because I found a guy in Norway/Sweden who does bezel inserts and I learned how to take them out with some golf club thing. But, I am done. I am a Timex guy. I wanted to be a Casio guy, I did. But, the buttons are just so terrible I cannot.

Hey DIno, sorry been off here for a few weeks. It did seem to get you fired up! I can totally get the easy of use with the Ironman and as I get older I think the usefulness of those buttons will only grow. I have a square and a Casioak to review, and the buttons are pretty awful, especially if yu have large fingers like myself. If you are a TIMEX guy I get that, I am probably a CITIZEN guy, as you might has guessed. It is ok to lover what you love and stuff everyone else. Hope you are in a good place and see you soon. More videos to drop soon. Thanks for watching as ever!
