My Minimalist Wedding | Why I Chose a Forever One Moissanite Ring | Forever One Moissanite Review

  • Hey, guys! Here is the first installment of my "My Minimalist Wedding" series! I have been wanting to talk about why I chose moissanite for my engagement ring with my fiancé, and I wanted to show others looking into the Forever One Moissanite brand what a ring set with it looks like! When I was looking, there weren't a ton of Forever One Moissanite reviews, so I think this could be helpful. :)
Thank you for taking the time to watch this video as always! I know the decision which gemstone someone picks for their engagement ring is so personal, and I hope that comes across in the video. I always like to be as transparent as possible in where I choose to go "more minimal" in my decisions.
For me, a diamond would have meant that my fiancé would have had to put hard earned money into something other than a home, and even though we love our tiny apartment- we truthfully want to own a home together more than anything!
For us, a forever one moissanite was the best value initially, but the stone has surpassed all of my expectations and I am TRULY in love with my ring! I hope this helps you if you are beginning your minimalist lifestyle, or are thinking about choosing a forever one moissanite!
    Some more information about moissanite:
    Moissanite Education: bit.ly/2t2JSSv
    Moissanite vs. Diamonds: bit.ly/2ukw0SZ
The history of the Marketing of Diamonds: bit.ly/2sSWcX3
There is a TON more info about moissanite and diamonds, you guys! I am only scratching the surface. I have nothing but love for all of you, whether you chose diamond, moissanite, or any other gem stone. I simply wanted to say why I chose moissanite, and how it has fit into my minimalist lifestyle!
    xoxo -Barnetta

I love moissanite and diamonds but at the end of the day they are just something pretty to look at. They have hardly any utility at all as you can wear a plain band to signify your marital status. So I chose moissanite because I don't want to drop so much money on a ring. I still haven't purchased a home yet!

It's a lovely ring and obviously makes you happy, which is what's important. I chose not to have an engagement ring and instead we invested the money in our first home. After 25 years of marriage, I have never regretted that decision.

Erin Brodeur ~ there are NO RULES in today's world, so buy yourself a Solitaire and wear it, hon! There are a plethora of beautiful rings they are continuously coming out with. Once you start buying Moissanite, you won't stop!!! They are making the stones SOOO BRIGHT in today's world also, whereas just two years ago, larger stones had a greenish or a yellowish hue to them. Treat yourself and buy yourself some Moissanite!!! You will NOT regret your decision!!!

Honestly, every moissonite I've seen looks super fake in person. If you don't mind that go for it, but if you want to pass it off as a diamond, save your money for the real thing.

We didn't get an engagement ring (yet the proposal was very romantic), eloped, for our honeymoon went to a romantic cosy cabin in the woods and went for a tattoo instead of a wedding ring. It was (and still is) perfect for us

My stone is an aquamarine and whilst I LOVE it I am irritated at times with the high setting catching on little threads or towels ect. My ring is 14 years old and I always smile when I look at it.

I love my moissanite. At the end of the day, who cares if it’s a real diamond or not? What the ring symbolizes is far more important.
He did splurge a bit on my ring setting, as it’s a Virragio. But it’s absolutely blindingly gorgeous and I get compliments all the time on how gorgeous and sparkly it is. No one even knows it isn’t a diamond.
And it was a fraction of the price of a real diamond.

This video is such a breath of fresh air. Myself and my fiancé chose a Forever One Emerald cut moissanite for the same reasons you gave- the unique sparkle, the value, and the current state of the diamond industry. It is so important for men and women to know that there are alternatives out there. You have to pay for a wedding and other big expenses in life, so it's not necessary to go broke on the engagement ring. Your ring is absolutely stunning! Cherish it forever.

If they do notice a difference they aren’t going to say anything because it’s rude. I have a friend who has a moissanite and my other a natural diamond. IRL side by side it’s easy to tell apart. I like the crushed ice look bad the rainbowish sparkle. Though this forever one does look less rainbowy but not sure if it’s video and IRL the refractions are easier to tell.

I have moissanite for my engagement ring as well and lab created diamonds for my wedding ring. It was important to me to not spend an obscene amount of money on my jewelry, but also get materials that would last the test of time. I also didn't feel comfortable getting something that wasn't a white hue in color; I just really wanted something that would mimic that diamond look. I get complimented all the time on my rings and they sparkle so much brighter than diamonds.

I got my fiancee a Forever One moissanite ring, and she loves it! I agree with what you said about the marketing campaigns regarding diamonds. Not only that, but companies like De Beers artificially inflate the prices, so I decided not to buy into that whole system of diamond marketing. Plus, a moissanite from a lab is guaranteed to be ethically sourced, and you don't have to pay extra for one without flaws, because every moissanite that gets sold is flawless!

Moissanite is better in everything except hardness... so if the fire, clarity and value is better why ignore that? I bought my wife a diamond it was stolen but this time around I discovered moissanite... I like them better, because objectively it does the job better... if I was filthy rich I might still go moissanite because of the fire.

    • @chrisdsx5
      @chrisdsx5 7 лет назад +20

If the stone has more fire, then it's just better... if people want to buy a Diamond just for the name that is fine. I would rather get the stone that sparkles the most. If the universe wants to save me like 6000 dollars at the same time I am very happy with that as well lol.

diamond has more little sparkles, i personally like the glittery sparkle of them compared to moissanite.

    • @chrisdsx5
      @chrisdsx5 7 лет назад +4

stevie green i dunno about that, from all the videos I seen I would say they are about even. And that is based finding a diamond that has the same clarity as the mossianite. So people will have to pay 7k+ for a 1 carot diamond with vs1 vs2 clarity and ideal cut. Based on the refractive index moissanite probably sparkles a tiny bit more. The main difference I see is the moissanite reflects a rainbow and diamonds reflect white.

    • @aprilheart5101
      @aprilheart5101 6 лет назад +14

As a jeweler myself, I will tell you that diamonds have more brilliance and sparkle than any moissanite, simply because of the internal crystalline structure of the diamond that allows these qualities to come through when cut nicely. But moissanite is very comparable to a diamond when it comes to the fire quality, and in most cases can even beat out a diamond in that aspect. But regardless, your ring is beautiful, and I have no doubt you will love it forever! Congrats!

I have owned Moissanite, several pieces to be exact, because it's as hard or harder than a diamonds, it's cost is lower, and it's color and reflection is far superior than a diamond, plus diamonds are a dime a dozen. Moissanite is the new diamond! I love them!

    • @Jayl__
      @Jayl__ 3 года назад +1

It’s actually much softer than diamonds. She it’s 9.25 while diamond is a 10. But the scale exponential so I wouldn’t say comparatively it’s anywhere as close to diamond in hardness but definitely harder than other gem stones and a good alternative. You can take a diamond and run it against sandpaper and it’ll be fine but can’t do that confidently with moissanite.

I think that is a very smart thing to do. If it was up to me I would want to pick a moissanite too, but my fiancé already bought the diamond ring. I totally agree with you that it is something about the history/marketing of the diamond that I do not like - seems so deceptive. Grant it, the diamond is the hardest on the hardness scale. If you really break it down, the moissanite has more fire and brilliance than a diamond. Also, it attracts less dirt/dust than a diamond so that means you can clean it less. If you really compare everything, the moissanite is a more beautiful stone, now that they can get it colorless (Forever One). Gemstones that are used for jewelry doesn't have to be harder than a 9 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness unless you are fighting in a war then, yes go for the diamond 😂. A moissanite is a 9.25 on the Mohs Scale and diamond is a 10.Till this day I am surprised that it is just the size of the diamond plays a huge role on the price determination of the ring when it should be the design/craftmenship or labor that goes into creating the ring that should be the one determining the price of the ring. For instance, isn't it harder to hand set small diamonds in a pave setting or adding clusters of diamonds to a ring? You would think. Instead it is how huge the center stone is, which is probably the easiest to set since it is just one stone. In the end, some people like diamonds and some like other stones. Diamonds are beautiful in its own rights, but it is the marketing behind it that makes me sick. For some reason in my mind I can justify a handbag. Maybe it is just the fact that I can at least use the thing for carrying my belongings vs a diamond has really no function. Also the fact that it is extremely small for that astronomical price. I think they should do a price adjustment, 5000 can get you 10 carats seems more reasonable vs 8000 gets you 1 carat that is 6.5 millimeters - not even inches - seems so ridiculous. Oh well, to each their own. I guess I would rather spend it on a handbag than a diamond...that is just me though. I actually want a lab grown diamond because it is just the geek in me that thinks it is so cool. However, the prices for the lab grown diamonds are still high because they are trying to sell it as a conflict free diamond (eye roll). I am sure they can grow it pretty easily but keeping the supply low so that the demand can be high. Morganite are gorgeous, but too soft for everyday wear. In the end, you picked a winner. Congrats!

Also can you please tell me where you got your beautiful ring? Thank You!
Plus I love that moissanite is becoming much more popular! Diamonds are nice sure and I don't hate them but if you can get something just as beautiful cheaper than why not?
At the end of the day the only thing that matters to "ME" is that someone fell in love with and loves me so much that they want to spend the rest of their life with me..
What good is a ring with no commitment, what good is a ring with no love...
Plus you can use the money you saved on great Honeymoon, House, or a Trip around the World lol.
Also the gems I'd love as Engagement/Wedding ring & that I've been thinking about are:
    *Moissanite
    *Moonstone
    *Morganite
    *Alexandrite
    *Tanzanite
    *London Blue Topaz
    *Swiss Blue Topaz
    *Tourmaline any color or /Bi-Color
    *Opal
    *Garnet
    *Sapphire any color
If there's any other beautiful gems that I missed let me know so I can check them out!
    😁😋❤

I also have a moisannite engagement ring and chose it for similar reasons as you. It seems these days a lot of couples are getting either alternative gemstones or reusing a stone from family. I'm not seeing as many couples buying a new, natural mined diamond. My fiance was also stressing way too much about the research involved with buying a diamond. Moissanites are so much easier!

I do have a (small) diamond in my wedding set, but I stopped wearing those rings altogether 20 years ago due to constantly banging the high setting into things and damaging the gold. Bought myself a plain gold band, which I still love, but sometimes I want to switch it out for rings with pretty gemstones. My CZs don't have much clarity and I'd like to find a more believable alternative in possibly an eternity band style. I dont know anything about Moissanite but your ring is stunning and you made a beautiful choice! I completely agree with the logic of putting that money towards a home!

I gained a lot of weight since I got married. I have started losing weight through weight watchers so I don't want original diamond ring resized until I see where I end up. I haven't been able to wear it for a few years now, which makes me sad. My husband said I should get a larger size ring so I can feel good with a diamond in my hand in the meantime. We don't have a lot of money to spend and I'd have to get a composite diamond ring if we went for diamond. I am really leaning toward a moissanite ring

I'm lucky enough to have a moissanite, a lab-created diamond, and a real diamond (inherited from a relative). They all are beautiful, in their own way, and have good and bad points. Moissanite is amazing - because of the crystaline structure of it, it actually sparkles more than a diamond. It's almost as hard, and about 1/10 the price. It's a great way to have a decent sized diamond and not have to mortgage your house to get it.
I also have a lab-created diamond, which is a real diamond, but grown in a lab instead of mined. I am concerned about the damage mining does to the Earth, and people risking their lives to get me a diamond. Lab-created diamonds aren't any cheaper than a mined diamond, but at least I feel its the better choice environmentally.
Finally I have a very old (150+ years) diamond that I inherited. I like the idea of "used" diamonds - and it's something I highly recommend when you're shopping for a wedding ring. They are much cheaper than "new" diamonds- and they already are mined - so they aren't contributing to more environmental damage. Check the used wedding ring websites for great deals.

I'm so grateful I came across your video! TYSM for sharing.. I've been going back and forth between a white sapphire and moissanite for my engagement ring and now I'm convinced to go with moissanite. I wanted a white sapphire as it's my future fiance's birthstone which is also my alternative birthstone (my birthstone is diamond but I'm not willing to have him spend double on a diamond only for it to be a 0.4ct). I read that white sapphire gets dull and murky quickly over time.

Just a warning, I bought an eternity band off the direct website and hate it. The prongs are raised and sharp so my hair and blankets get caught on it. That's the only downside from buying from a website is you can't try it on.

I never heard of that ring it's pretty and I feel like it shouldn't matter who has the biggest diamond ring .What matters is the person who wants to be with you for the rest of your life.

I think my moisanite has much more sparkle than my real diamond! Doesn’t ever get cloudy either. I resold it after 2 yrs for more than I paid.

    Thank you!

I was engaged without a ring...I had said since I was a little girl no diamonds...when I was little I liked sapphire...my husband told me he could not afford the Lady Di ring...very happy to say when he picked out my ring it was my dream...a small marquee sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds...no money wasted...years later as a gift from five students...when Prince William was married I received my Lady Di ring as a thank you gift...Avon special...my daughter was one of five students...again special and a great cocktail ring

That is a very beautiful stone. It certainly gives the same feeling as a diamond and does look like a diamond. It would have been a very practical choice for me if it had existed when I married.

Until De Beers started to advertise diamonds as THE wedding ring stone, most people had plain bands for their wedding ring, and coloured stones for the engagement ring. The idea of diamonds for weddings is pretty much entirely a modern fabrication, to keep up demand for the diamond cartel.

Personally, I am not interested in having a large wedding (leaning towards eloping) and have always been intrigued by diamonds. BUT the savings of moissanite are incredible and the seem fairly indistinguishable from diamonds to most unless they are being held side by side. I am honestly torn on what to do.

I’m choosing a moissanite for my wedding ring. The ring that I loved is $61,500 and that’s just too much. The same setting and moissanite stone is about $7,100. For me, there’s no point in buying a diamond that looks horrible because it’s what I can afford. Also, getting a diamond from an ethical source is expensive too. I love flowers more than life, that’s where my money is going.

I wish I would’ve gotten moissanite. I could’ve gotten a bigger stone for sure. My hubby spent 10k on a platinum 1.25 emerald cut ring. It’s beautiful and I love it so much, but wish I had learned about these stones when we were ring shopping.

I'm a new jewelry designer and I've been excited about Moissanites - I think they're our generation's stone - diamonds cost SO much. Do you tell people it's a diamond? How do you feel about telling people that it isn't? etc.
You mentioned you talk to friends about that you're happy with your choice but if someone mentions the size or the cost on the street (a stranger) do you tell them?
PS my brand is Isa Foxx I would love to see what you think of what I have so far from one jewelry lover to another!

Moissanite is technically a partial diamond, it is made of carbon and silicone where a diamond is 100% carbon. So, if we were to look at it like gold, 24 KT being the purest, a Moissanite would be like a 14KT.

The only reason I have a diamond is because my mom had one she didn't use anymore after she upgraded her ring! I probably would have done an Old European Cut Moissanite if I didn't get the diamond!
